In reply to Thalia (msg #12):
OOC: Mirror image will be more effective. When you have to pick among images, maybe you won't use that true strike. As for the spell in the spell compendium. I have never seen it and had no chance to get it. Tarlassana is an evoker and she figured you for some touch attack spells but not 3d6+18 per blow. That is a 2 hit KO no matter what her AC is. I perhaps could have kept distance better and used my 8d6 scorching rays or my Scintillating Sphere but I knew you have some electricity resistance (wasn't sure how much, at least 5 as aasimar) that my usual tactic of stormbolts wasn't going to work well.
what I would like to know is how did you manage to use a shield wand. Shield is not on your spell list (I was going to use magic missiles until you rendered them impotent. 4d4+4 each and 170' range). Wands can only be used by characters who have the specific spell on their spell list. Paladins, Aasimars, paladins and clerics of lathander don't have it on their spell list (come to think of it, you can't use a fly wand either. Was this whole battle won using two wands that you can't by the rules used (would have kept you out of range thanks to my fly spell).
If so, we will have to have a rematch.
Wands use spell trigger to activate (bold and underline is mine):

Spell Trigger
Spell trigger activation is similar to spell completion, but it’s even simpler. No gestures or spell finishing is needed, just a special knowledge of spellcasting that an appropriate character would know, and a single word that must be spoken.
Anyone with a spell on his or her spell list knows how to use a spell trigger item that stores that spell. (This is the case even for a character who can’t actually cast spells, such as a 3rd-level paladin.) The user must still determine what spell is stored in the item before she can activate it. Activating a spell trigger item is a standard action and does not provoke attacks of opportunity.
