Re: Weston Auto Salvage

Brainstorm turned, looking pissed, and the hold on Mirage loosened a bit.

Even as, in the real world, Dragon Fist had everything ready, two wires leading to Nokomis' hands, all he had to do was pull Mirage out of physical contact with her, and let the lightning rod connect.

Re: Weston Auto Salvage

Dragon Fist knew that it was ready. "C'mon Mirage...time to bring the lightning..."

And he pulled her away from Stormwalker.

Re: Weston Auto Salvage

"Brain!" Mirage shouted through clenched teeth.  She could appreciate what Nokomis was doing but Mirage was supposed to keep Brains attention away from Stormwalker and that was just what she was going to do.

"Come on, Brain.  I've wrestled with kittens tougher than this.  The real Brain was tougher than this.  Is this silly whip the best that you can do?  Man up and show me what you've got."

Lucas.  Do it.  Don't worry about me.  I need to keep the contact to keep Brain distracted.  Fry this guy.

Dragon Fist then let the lightning rod connect, and he looked up to see the lightning. Hopefully it could come down now and fry Brain...

Re: Weston Auto Salvage

When Lucas connected the lightning rod, it gave the seething electricity in the air a grounding point.  It arced to the rod in a bolt that made the ground SHAKE with the volume of the thunder, and that energy POURED into StormWalker.  If he hadn't pulled Mirage away, it might well have killed her!  A psychic scream of agony was clear, even as the current was pouring through StormWalker's flesh, not seeming to affect her at all.  Until her head jerked to one side, like something had hurt her ear on one side.

"Stormwalker..." Dragon Fist said as he knelt next to her. "Stormwalker...are you...yourself..."

He looked towards Mirage as well, and nudged her gently, hoping she was all right.

OOC:  Why is it that I can picture DF cradling a limp Stormwalker in his arms and nudging Mirage with his foot?  :)

Dragon Fist had roughly pulled Mirage off of Stormwalker, breaking the mental contact and pulling her back to the real world.  It still took her a few minutes to blink her way back to the real world.  She propped herself up on her elbows, shaking her head.  She felt dizzy, off balance, like her mind was too big for her head and spilling out her ears.

"That was...Did it...work?"

Re: Weston Auto Salvage

StormWalker hadn't yet moved, but then, the lightning rod was still hooked up, so touching her wasn't wise yet.  SHE might be immune to electricity, but they weren't.  Then she brought one hand up rubbing at her ear.

Dragon Fist looked at Mirage.

"I think so..that was quite a jolt though."

He then turned to Stormwalker, noticing that she was moving.

"Stormwalker?"

"I was hoping that the jolt would short out whatever it was that was sending Brains commands into her mind." Mirage slowly rose up to her feet, the tears and marks in her dress fading and repairing themselves.

"It should have worked, but be ready for anything."  Once more Mirage thought about what she had been able to do, diving into the mind of another and pull Dragon Fist in with her.  This was new.  "Maybe I should try searching through her mind once more."

Lightly, Mirage touched her fingers to Stormwalkers head, trying to find her way back into the womans mind.

  She found her way in immediately.  And did not hear Brain's voice whispering in her skull.  Rather, she heard the sound of wind, blowing over sand dunes.  {{Thank you.  Feel free to make sure he isn't hiding somewhere in here if you can?}}

Dragon Fist nodded, then remained ready to support Mirage in case she needed any help.

Though it looked like she had things well in hand with this new talent of hers.

"Alright.  I'll poke around a bit and see what I can find."

Mirage started to check around Stormwalkers mind, searching for any sign of Brain.

She sat back, and a breeze played gently with Mirage's hair as she moved through Nokomis' mind.  Brain seemed well and truly vanquished, this time.  At long last!!

Dragon Fist quietly knelt next to Mirage as she did her mental magic, hoping that Stormwalker was free of the madman's grasp.

Re: Weston Auto Salvage

Mirage sifted through Stormwalkers mind, searching for any sign of Brain or the villains commands.  She was new at this and her searching was less than graceful compared to someone who would be more experienced.

Mirage smiled as she felt Nokomis play with her hair.  It was strangely calm now in Stormwalkers mind and Mirage felt the calmness seeping into her own mind.

"It feels nicer in here, Nokomis.  I think that you're free of Brains influence.  How are you feeling?"

"Very glad I'm on your side, and glad I'm immune to electricity, and Brain wasn't!"  She smiled, and rubbed at one ear, adding "You're even more amazing in the flesh than you are in news reports and police files."

Re: Weston Auto Salvage

Mirage smiled and glanced over at Dragon Fist to see his reaction to hearing how amazing he was in the flesh.  It did not occur to Mirage that Stormwalker would be referring to her.

She rose up to her feet, still feeling calm from Nokomis mind.  Perhaps it was the aftermath of being hit by lightning.

"Hopefully that will be the last that we hear of Brain.  It's a real shame about your hair, darling." Mirage brushed a hand through Nokomis hair.  "With a bit of brushing you should be able to work out the static.  I suppose one may have to suffer style and fashion for vanquishing evil."

She chuckled, and let Dragon Fist help her up before she ran a hand through her hair, and said quietly "Well, I'll admit, I decided to move to Weston to try and offer my abilities to the Legacy.  Id you'd be willing to have me as one of you?"

Dragon Fist looked at Stormwalker for a moment. "Well...you've got my vote. Mirage, what do you say?" he asked her, but he was pretty sure he knew what her answer would be.

Re: Weston Auto Salvage

Mirage gave Dragon Fist a sidelong glance.  She wasn't sure that there was a Legacy anymore.  Friday was gone, Hunter was in and out of trouble and had a family now and Hotwire had taken a sabbatical.  Dragon Fist was spending more time with the NADs while Mirage was doing her normal thing.

"If Dragon Fist vouches for you, then I guess I can trust his judgement."  Mirage was playing to her character.  She normally would have shrugged off giving an opinion and would reserve judgement until she had a chance to see Stormwalker in action.  However, Mirage had been in the womans mind and there was no indication of any malice or foul intentions.

She smiled, and slid her mask off, since they already knew who she was.  "Thank you.  I hope that I can live up to it.  And my day job compliments it nicely.  I can arrest them for us as soon as we bag them!"

"That will be very helpful. And you have an impressive mark on your resume with helping us to finally put Brain out of commission."

Re: Weston Auto Salvage

Finally putting Brain out of commission?  The guy blew himself up like some psychic suicide bomber.  While Mirage still counted it as a victory, it was a less than satisfying victory.  Still, a villain was punished and he would never try to enslave anyone ever again and that thought made Mirage smile.

"I'm sure that we'll be able to give your day job plenty of work then." Mirage said with a soft smile.  "I'm looking forward to seeing what you do for an encore, darling."
