Re: What you will Endor

Joe looks to the little lady with some concern, as he doesn't want someone who's done nothing but help him out (and their tenseness so far has been understandable) to be sad.  "If it's something Shayock isn't cool with talking about, I figure we could let her keep it to herself.  Least we can do, though if it was anything we could help with I'd rather know."

Shayok looks at Lucky and says, "Self-imposed banishment. Long story." She looks at Joe. "Thank you."

Re: What you will Endor

"Sounds serious," Lucky answers Shayok, "Let's step out into the fresh air."

He offers to carry the IV bag for Joe.  Once outside where she's hopefully more comfortable, Lucky inhales deep to enjoy the smell of the woods.

"It's beautiful here," he says, "So full of life.  It makes me feel at home.  I came here hoping I could maybe help preserve life.  I get the feeling that you're of the same mission, Shayok.  Am I right?"

Re: What you will Endor

Joe nods in regards to Shayok, "You're welcome."

Joe can carry his own bag of substitute vital fluids thank you very much.  Mmmm.  Delicious Bacta.  Or whatever.  He follows along outside though, somewhat curious why is still finds the outdoors vibe pleasant after 'five minutes along with nature.... ohgodnature'stryingotkillme'.

"Nothing so noble on my end, I just crashed."

Shayok says, "...I wouldn't call it a mission. For me, anyway. I just help when it's needed. Outside of that, my 'mission' is simply the study of herbs and what I can do with them."

Re: What you will Endor

"I'm curious what is your profession, Joe?" Lucky asks.

He looks over at Shayok.

"I'm a bit of an herbalist myself.  Was raised to be a shaman, but life took me on a different path.  I generally rely on herbs for healing when the fancy stuff wouldn't do a better job.  What kinds of stuff can you do with herbs?"

Re: What you will Endor

"Varying forms of technical repair. Ship hulls, hyperdrives, droids, cyber maintenance,  If it's something you'd need to get fixed up by a tech guy I can work with it." Not to mention slicing, but he tends to only do that in cases of 'we'll probably die if I don't override this door/turret/life support system'

He considers the forest view, "Though, currently unemployed.  who knows, maybe if I get back into space I'll go back to the salvage side of things to clear the space above.  There isn't anything up there that would cause problems unless someone pushes it, so groundside is good beyond some scattered harmless lightshows."

Seriously.  Wouldn't be much left to have a right before end credits party if the space debris were that bad.  And if so, the planets shield building remained and could be put back into operation.

Re: What you will Endor

Shayok answers Lucky with sincerity, "Anything."

She looks at Joe, a good portion of what he said not translating. "I don't understand. You fix things... I don't really get what it is you fix. Lucky's magic thing told me the ewok words for flying fortress, propellers, golden gods, fixing the gods, and something about lightshows being abroad..."

"There's a reason I mentioned a 'flying house' earlier, yeah," Lucky says, "And by 'anything' do you mean you have herbs that make you able to reshape the sky?  Make the sun rise or set on your whim?  Gain all knowledge?  Become invincible?  Live forever?  And I don't mean in the 'in your mind you imagine those things as if they were real while under the influence of the herbs.'"

Re: What you will Endor

Joe finds himself in the company of a fellow literal man.  So he doesn't exactly disapprove of Lucky's questions.  "I fix these, yeah."  This said as he pats the side of the ship (provided if its near by.  otherwise he just points).  "Just because it's not alive, doesn't mean if can't get too worn out to work right.  Or crushed with logs in certain cases."  Haha!  Go forth! Blaster proof death walkerohcraplogs*SPLOSION*

  It's Loooog, Looog, it's big, it's heavy, it's wood.
It's Loooog, Looog, it's better than bad, it's good!

"Not exactly as important as patching up people like you two do, but it has it's moments."

Lucky shakes his head at Shayok.

"Lightly frustrated with the limits of language," he answers, "For example, where I come from, shaking your head means 'no.'  I've gotten into the habit of headshakes to mean 'no.'  When I hear 'anything' I think it means 'more than you can imagine.'  I don't believe herbs can do anything.  But I might be wrong.  If I am, I'd like to see.  But even if not, I'd like to know specifics of what you can do with herbs."

Re: What you will Endor

Joe shrugs, "I don't want to make fun of you, I'd feel like a jerk and you don't deserve it.  Well, unless it's the harmless sort of sarcasm."  Oh no, you're adorable.  how will you deal with this tragic situation!?

"Though I am also more used to 'anything' meaning 'whatever you can think of' myself.  I figure there at least are a lot of things you could do with herbs I didn't think of though?"

Re: What you will Endor

Shayok hrms. "OK. I can do many things. I can make you fall in love with a predatory beast and make it fall in love back rather than it eating you. I can make wounds heal, cause plants to grow where they shouldn't, cause you to itch, make you ill, cure illness, make things flammable, make things immune to fire, make a tree bloom, create new plants, restore endangered species... you know. Many things. Too many to really list. And since "make you think the sky is falling or that the sun is setting" are among those things, it is as though I can do anything."

Lucky ahs.

"That's the answer I was looking for.  You're much more capable than me, then.  I only know a few healing herbs and little more.  I'd like to learn more if you're willing to teach."

To Joe he answers, "Admittedly it's often used as an exaggeration, but dealing with translators and new cultures leaves me with less of a frame of reference and I need more clarification."

Re: What you will Endor

"I'm admittedly curious about getting things to grow where it's not likely if that's doable for growing food.  But I somehow get the feeling that would be a bit beyond me."  Fixing a Hydroponics section on a long-haul ship isn't quite the same thing as having a legitimate green thumb.

"Though, do you have a favorite kind that you get a chance to use often Shayok?"

Shayok answers Lucky's question first. "I can teach some, but not all." then looks at Joe to answer him. "I do have a frequently used and favored use for herbs." She displays her flower-crown. "Making flowers grow."

"Well isn't that sweet!" Lucky says with a smile.

He leans over to sniff the flowers, staying outside what he considers an acceptable bubble.

"Well your flowers are lovely.  They compliment you well.  I'd love to learn growing flowers from you.  But I do need to visit other Ewoks to see if there's any immediate need.  So... maybe you could tell me a little more about this self-imposed exile.  I don't want to offend anyone when I visit."

He smiles at Joe.

"I like your idea, too."

"I guess at the very least knowing if you don't want us to mention you can't hurt.  I'd offer to help you with whatever while Lucky does his thing Shayok, but I'd probably just slow you down for the moment" Must. Pay Back. Tiny lady.  Though, paying back Lucky is also on the schedule.

Re: What you will Endor

Shayok answers, "What I did has to do with the fact I'm a girl. You don't look like a girl, but then you aren't an ewok either, so maybe you're a girl and I don't know it. I doubt you will offend. But if you take me to a village, I can go with you. I am so far from home by now, I won't be recognized and I can help you with social barriers. Just be quiet about what I can do. If you say anything about how amazing my skill is, I will simply slip out and you won't hear from me again."

Lucky ahs.

"Understandable," he says, "Thank you for offering to help.  I might not be a girl, but in my world the roles are reversed from most other people I've met.  Men are expected to be gentle, quiet, nurturing sorts in my world.  Women are aggressive, protective, and outspoken.  I've broken so many gender rules from so many cultures it's hard to keep count.  I might be an understanding ear if what happened to you is anything like that."

To Joe he says, "I think you have a lot you can help this little lady with.  Introducing her to technology that can help her profession not the least of which."

Re: What you will Endor

Kyle may not be a Darkthorne, but certain parental trends common to Darkthornes may or may not have been involved in his life.  "And that would definitely fall under 'what you don't want us to mention'.  Would it be better to not refer to you by name, or is it safe for you if we call you Shayok?"  Joe.  Not wanting to make life a hassle, even by accident.

He turns to Lucky and says "While it is an interesting idea, unless there was a convenient source of parts available her way is definitely the better way down here.  Even if I was a half decent teacher and she took the time to learn, not much good knowing how to use something that isn't even there."

"Guys aren't supposed to have glowing weapons or telekinetic powers or all kinds of things I do," Lucky says, "But it's gotten to the point where while I may make some people uncomfortable back home, and mind you, that's IF they know about my abilities, they don't bother hassling me about it any more.  Well not much.  No more than an unhappy glare.  What sorts of punishment would you face, Shayok?"

To Joe he answers, "Well I was thinking more long term.  And judging from the stone-age tech I've heard these folks have, even something as simple as a pocket knife would be a huge deal.  You could start small and work up from there."

Re: What you will Endor

Joe blinks at the last comment from Shayok, and has a more simple view comment than Lucky regarding it.  "I may not know all the details, but I'm going to jump to the conclusion of 'that is stupid'."

To Lucky, he answers "I'm not exactly a culture expert, but I'd prefer not to introduce completely new stuff out of nowhere unless they were okay with it, or it was a difference of life and death for them."
