Pokémon: Hot Summer Day

It's a summer day in the Cerulean City, temperatures are up to 93 degrees Fahrenheit. Many of the humans in the area have decided to go swimming in the nearby river. Maverick and Lucky are not here at the moment (for reasons that could be given later when Lucky's player arrives, if he wishes).

Hanging out by the Pokécenter is a glaceon who looks absolutely exhausted. (This pic is perfect! Though imagine instead of ice and water, the glaceon is resting on grass in the shade)

Re: Pokémon: Hot Summer Day

Superbird is convinced that flying type is waaay more annoying to deal with than water types.  After all, the ceiling is much higher up than a pool is deep!  And that's if your indoors.  Joe meanwhile, is at the beach cause hey, beach.  Why not?  He's not quite literally Red White and Blue patterned today because while he's got Red swim trunks and a blue T-shirt on, he's actually got a sun-tan as opposed to cave nerd white skin ;D

His pity radar is tingling though, as he looks over to see the particularly Meh'd out Glaceon.  So he wanders over, and says "This may be a stupid question, but you okay?"  Double stupid because he probably can't read the subtitles.

Re: Pokémon: Hot Summer Day

Problem with Superbird's assessment is that glaceon isn't water. It's ice. Which flying types are weak to. Water types also know ice moves at times, so even then... but that's beside the point. Superbird is super! So none of this matters! ...because he's too lazy to fight anyway.

The glaceon looks up at Joe lazily and head-shakes. "Glay..."

Superbird thinks you can take your logic and Rock Paper Ghost chains and send them a polite but disapproving letter.

Joe meanwhile, gets about the kind of answer he expected.  "Of course.  You here with anyone?  I'd figure if so we should find them.  Otherwise if you don't mind sharing space with soda cans I got a cooler over there." Joe thumbpoints to mentioned plastic cooler O Ice and delicious soda.

The glaceon perks up! It rushes over to the cooler and jumps in! "Glay!" wallowing a bit in the ice with the kind of look someone might get while getting a good back massage.

The glaceon snatches an ice cube into its mouth and then paws at one of the cokes.

Meanwhile within earshot, and in easy visual distance, a sciency looking type is putting dealing with the final calibrations on a rather large looking machine wet up on a flatbed truck.  Reb/Blue/Yellow vetrens may recognize the machine from a visit to Bill's, as it sports a central console with two large tubes at either side.

"I have no idea why Professor Bill was so quick to give up on this device.  Something that can turn humans into pokemon is a great invention and sure to bridge the HUman-Pokemon gap once and for all!  Now if only I had a volunteer...."

"At last, Scientific evidence bringing soda is good for health."  Joe, lookin at the big picture.  He heads over to the beach blanket and umbrella oasis at a more casual pace, sitting down and commenting "I got some straws if you wanted a soda." Still no crazy straws though.

He kerblinks at sudden impending doom(light variety) sense, and looks over in Koo's direction.  "But if I do not have opposable thumbs, how will I properly open soda cans?"   Again, Big picture.

Again, some pokémon have opposable thu-*gets kidnapped by nonsense police for using too much logic*

Glaceon wiggles an ear at the mention of a straw and Joe protesting to losing his thumbs. "Glay! Glay!" the glaceon says, nodding and pawing at the coke. The ice fox demonstrates by nawing on the can that it does NOT have opposable thumbs and thus, can not open said can.

The sciency looking person glances over.  Sciencey regulation glasses get nudged back up on their proper resting spot and he hmms.  "I see.. I should invent an automated can and bottle opener for pokemon that don't have thumbs."  Or nice people could just open said containers.

"I suppose for now if you were to have no thumbs, I'd be happy to open your cans for you, if you'd be willing to volunteer for a testrun of this machine."  He comments to Joe, "Think of it.  Being a pokemon, to see the world through their eyes, to speak with their voice, to understand what it means to be a pokemon.  Through science!"  Well he is nice enough to walk over and open the ice fox's can.

Re: Pokémon: Hot Summer Day

The glaceon sips happily at the coke, letting out a generic squeal of happiness, eyes closed, big smile. Then opens its eyes to look at the two humans, wondering why it is one wants others to be pokémon without wanting to himself. The glaceon also thinks loss of thumbs is a good reason NOT to be a pokémon. But share these thoughts? Sadly, the glaceon does not speak English unlike 4 known other culprits (Meowth of Team Rocket, Lucky (conveniently a meowth evolution), Chalice (Tim's vaporeon character) and Hyper (Tim's Raichu character who really only knows the bare bones basics of English).

The glaceon figures it'll just enjoy the coke while the humans sort out their... unusual topic.

Another required adjustment of glasses.  Really the Science-Gaming Nerd Guild requires that all glasses be adjusted, nudged or otherwise slightly moved avery few minutes. The sciencey guy grins and shows off the machine.

"Well I would test it myself, but!  Someone has to be able to moniter the various gauges and readings, and power flow signifier thingies.  After all, it isn't as  easy as turning an on off switch."  He sighs sadly, "It never is.."  Well he might be exaggerating a bit, but to the unfamilier the console might look a bit complicated.

Bill gives a time and day to Kallen and says, "Well right now, I'm busy. But I'll trust you to keep an eye on Azure here. Catch you tomorrow!" he runs off. Because let's face it, the entire point of the translator was so Azure didn't have to keep going "Glay" and barely interact.

Azure says, "Nice guy." as she watches him leave. "Day is hot. We should find cool place."

He grins, "Bill's great.  Sometimes too much in a rush, but he's got a good heart.  And yeah, if I were a pokemon trainer, I'd be trying to get one of those for all my pokemon after seeing Azure here demonstrate it."

Wait, bad comparison as that is hardly approaching pointless.  "Yeah, if it wasn't for the questionable water proofing I'd suggest we both carry my cooler while she rides on the way there, it's got wheels on it... nevermind how useless they are on sand.  Though I could empty out the melted water first or something."

A beachside roller rink makes a surprising amount of sense.  You got an indoorsy area that also often has food and arcades and other 'Whee! I'm at the beach but I don't feel like being outdoors right now!' entertainment.

Hmm, if not for the really asking for trouble nature of it in a city full of super powered crazies, a certain arcade owner in a different setting would consider expanding like that.

Anyways!  Joe indeed helps carry along his own cooler.  "Feel free go grab a soda from the thing Kallan."

Kallan does indeed reach for a soda, also attempting to sneak a petting of the glaceon too.  "Ah well.. that's because we humans don't have a lot of fur, and we don't have feathers or scales, so we have to wear clothes, atleast most places.  And places like the beach here, people can get away with wearing the minimum amount of clothes without getting in trouble."  Usually.  Never know when a Krabby's going to think a swimsuit string is some kind of tasty worm or something and yank on it.  >.>

Thing of it is, birthday batter / birthday cake ice cream doesn't have chunks at all and is always creamy. At least in the player's past half-dozen times having those flavors.

Azure gladly sips at a shake while people crowd around and ask about the technology. They ask other things too, like what do Pokémon think of fights, why do they try to hurt people who try to catch them, and other semi-stupid yet not questions.

Azure says, "I don't mind fighting. But I thought the point of fighting is to defend yourself. So the pokémon who attack people probably feel they need to defend themselves."

Well it's my only one.. never used it.  Anyway.  If you're okay with it, you could use it to be.. captured, so you wouldn't have to worry about anyone else trying to do it to you.  I'm no trainer or anything like that, and I couldn't imagine what it must be like being all cooped up inside such a tiny device.  In otherwords, I wouldn't try to force you to battle, neither would I try to keep you inside the ball, unless it was meant to save your life."  You never know what kind of crazies are roaming out there.

"I think you're a great person Azure, and I know I'd enjoy hanging out with you for as long as you wanted to hang around a science dork like me.  There's no rush, no need to say one way or another if you're comfortable with this.  And I'll understand no matter what you decide on."
