Viroviacum; the Temple of Pluto.

The second oldest of the three temples here, built long ago when the town’s cemetery was opened, this is a dignified looking building containing a large ceremonial room, and adjacent memorial rooms, store rooms, and work areas.  Xybezza’s home is behind it.

After the battle, Xybezza assembled what she could of the memory moss contained her memories.  She also has the moss that was used to take the memories from the others who were “interrogated” by the Blackguards here.  Carefully nibbling on pieces of moss, she restored what she could of her memory.  She does not know if she has it all- how do you really know what was forgotten, and what was never there to begin with?  She might have doubts the rest of her life.

And what to do with all the rest of the moss?  What's lost inside those jars?

But she is certain of the next task she must accomplish:  identifying the dead, and there are many.  The bodies Swift found on the top of the Temple of Juno were just the beginning.  Other bodies were placed in buildings around the town

Re: Viroviacum; the Temple of Pluto.

In addition to the mundane but important priestly business of helping the dead find their way to the afterlife, including the Blackguards and other enemies, Seti meets with Xybezza and Rita to help them put the pieces together of what may have happened here, and elsewhere.

The memory moss is new to him, and he asks in detail about how it functions, where it came from, and how it may be controlled, or not. Seti is slightly nervous about letting Scolo run about unhinged, but he won't argue with the wizard about it. He suspects that Scolo's powers are now tied inextricably with the chaotic realms, such that it could damage him not to connect every so often. Also, this provides some opportunity to assist Xybezza. Seti does not know the extent of the artifact's powers, but it seems quite likely that it would aide in memory loss or thought clarification. He loans it to her during their work.

He shares with the priestesses the highlights of his recent journeys - the establishment of the settlement in Lingones, the recovery of the artifacts, and his search to find Scolo. He confirms that the army has possession of Melissa. He is surprised to find the Blackguards here in concentration. That alone is troubling.

Re: Viroviacum; the Temple of Pluto.

Rita will do her part to bring the dead to the Temple of Pluto.

"If anyone can identify these people, it is the survivors. These could be their friends and relatives. Once we gather all the bodies here, we should approach the survivors and give them a chance to identify friends and loved ones--if they are strong enough emotionally to handle it," she suggests to Xybezza and Seti.

She also expresses surprise at the fact that Scolo is on their side now.

"Wasn't Scolo working for the Huns, creating those iron warriors for them? How did he end up changing sides?" she asks Seti.

Rita shares her recent adventures with Xybezza and Seti.

"Have you been to Arras since the attack on our Temple there?" she asks Seti. "I know my father was injured, and I am concerned about him.

This city seems to have been some sort of center for demon summoning,"
she explains what her group found out. "We do need to be sure we get all the blackguards. One got away when we were rescuing Xybezza."

She reminds Xybezza that the memories in the moss might be very unpleasant. "I don't think you or Seti should eat that moss any more than you think I should eat it. I'm really not sure what we should do with it. Maybe Scolo might have an idea. Or we could give it to King Theoderic and let him decide. Perhaps Melissa could be interrogated specifically about these to see whether she knows anything about them."

OOC: To what artifact is Seti referring in the statement:  "Seti does not know the extent of the artifact's powers, but it seems quite likely that it would aide in memory loss or thought clarification. He loans it to her during their work."
Is this artifact something Rita has heard about or seen before? As a player, I don't know what this artifact is.

Re: Viroviacum; the Temple of Pluto.

After receiving some healing from Rita Vagrenk thanks her and shadows her to the temple of Pluto. It was still dangerous though it seemed like the worst of it was over. He'll assist her as best he can in any tasks she may be trying to accomplish.

Regarding Scolo Vagrenk whispers to Rita at an opportune time.

Re: Viroviacum; the Temple of Pluto.

Seti explains a bit more, "I think Scolo works for Scolo, even now. His mind is quite different than yours and mine, and he seems to have relatively little interest in whether the Huns rule Gaul or not. His extensive work with Chaotic realms and magic have taken a toll on his sanity. However, I think the threat against his life, as the Huns tried to assassinate him, has given him a sense of direction for the moment. Also, the torc restores his sanity, when worn. I'm a bit worried about him running loose in the city without it." In a very rare show of humor, he twirls his finger by his temple, illustrate that the mans brains are indeed scrambled.

"I, and a few companions, recently recovered this torc, amongst a few other items," he says, holding forth the tiara-shaped object, "from a shipwreck. Some years ago it was bound for a temple of Minerva. I was guided there by divine inspiration and by rumors that the Blackguards were going after it as well." He offers it to Rita and Xybezza for inspection. "It seems to grant clarity of thought to the wearer. I feel it likely has other powers, unknown for now. The Temple of Minerva in Arras seemed to feel it had more value in the field than in their trove. Since meeting Scolo, I have requested he wear it most of the time, for our collective safety."

"I was on my way back to Arras when I recovered the torc, and I arrived not long after the attack. I am still trying to figure out exactly what happened, but I am fairly certain that it involves Zerova, the Blackguards, and likely a spy inside Arras. Some form of fiery elemental demon was summoned to the temple mount. Melissa, the captured Blackguard, suggested that Pelion was not the target - merely a victim, but she did not offer much useful detail. I stayed in the Temple itself and found nothing out of the ordinary there." With a comforting pat on the arm, Seti reassures Rita, "Your father is fine, and he has bravely taken over the duties of the Temple, while waiting for his status to be officially confirmed, which seems likely. I don't think he is in any more danger than everyone else in Arras, and perhaps ourselves."
