Escape from Tatooine

By the time you navigate the canyon and the waste the twin suns of Tatooine set the twilight sky ablaze with fiery colour. But even as darkness approaches, Mos Eisley is alive with activity. People are running everywhere, preparing ships, gathering belongings, paying off debts. Even the locals move quickly, securing doors and windows, transporting families and possessions to safer quarters. It appears as if a mass exodus of visitors and residents alike is imminent.

Re: Escape from Tatooine

It was a long and suspenseful flight down Tusken Canyon and across the wastes, with Lyla warily watching the walls and dunes for danger. But they were lucky not to be ambushed by Sand People or Kast's goons or even Stormtroopers, and got back across the desert unmolested. Lyla directed a direct course back to Mos Eisley while they listened to Tallon reminiscing. She didn't think much of his claims. The time to move against Palpatine was right at the beginning, before he entrenched his power, not after decades of tightening his grip. It was the tale of an old warhorse who wouldn't admit he'd been defeated or been a coward. Woulda coulda shoulda.

Unfortunately, they were now in too much of a hurry to swing by Oasis and check up on the Dim-U community. That was a pity; Lyla wanted to meet them again. When they were closest, she activated her comlink to contact them, so she could pass along the news. 'Dryon? Bless the Bantha! It's Lyla Rahn again.' She realised they'd only last met than morning. It had been a long day even for Tatooine. 'I just wanted to let you know those bounty hunters shouldn't trouble you again. You should be safe... But there might be some other trouble coming, so keep your horns down, stay in a herd.'

There was something else they wouldn't have time or resources for: the water silo, full of liquid gold. Lyla couldn't think of anyone else on this rock she'd rather share it with. 'Look, we found something: there's an abandoned water silo outside Mos Eisley, yeah, up on Tower Ridge, beside the old transmission tower. Thing is, it's full of water and no one living owns it. I want the Dim-U to have it. It's flooded and, uh, there's a couple of bodies floating in it, so it'll need pumping out and filtering, but it'll water your fields and bantha and your people for ages... Walk with the Bantha.' Now she was done with Tatooine.

Finally, they were slipping into Mos Eisley, now a wretched hive of activity. Lyla knew a desperately flight when she saw one. She leaned out of the speeder and shouted to some slower-moving passers-by. 'Hey! What's going on? Why's everyone leaving?'

Re: Escape from Tatooine

"Suppose a new Oasis... hrmmm... opened up in the sands?  Or discovery... hrmmm... of gold?", answers Oglo with dry optimism.  Turning to darker suppositions, he adds, "Or come to town... hrmmm... Vash the Stampede has?  Or empire built another... hrmmm... planet-destroying weapon?"

Re: Escape from Tatooine

As they got closer to Docking Bay 94 and their goal the Alabak’s Gold the streets of Mos Eisley were crowded with people. They had to slow their speeder just to navigate the streets. As they went passed the General Store they had visited when they first arrived Lyla saw the Shistavenen Kal Lup standing outside the store watching the activity with interest. When Lyla called out she yelled a reply “Imperials are coming” she waved. Stopping the speeder and taking a moment to talk to her Kal Lup explained further to Lyla “the spaceport has been ordered closed. The Prefect and his stormtroopers are trying to secure the city as best they can. They can’t be everywhere. Still, an Imperial Star Destroyer in system adds a lot of weight to the Prefect’s commands. Most of the visitors have decided to obey the Imperial edict, but that doesn’t mean they can’t be ready to leave at a moment’s notice”
