Re: OOC Discussion 4

Upon consideration, Grunyar, I may be passing on the special summoner fight, at least until my winter break from classes, when I'll only be working part time and my immediate family is out of town visiting extended family.  It takes me almost an hour to do a post with just 2-3 summons active, and with potentially 5+ of them active, as well as reading your monster descriptions... I just can't commit to the 2-3 hours per post currently with full time work and a family... (nor am I particularly interested in spending 30-60 hours total on a match for 600 xp/gp :-P).

For Hiro - I'd be up for that after I hit level 7.  At this point it would just be "Could Hiro kill 9 CR 2 monsters, 1 per round" or "Can Hiro kill 18-45 cr 1/3 monsters, 2-5 per round".  Either way, I think the answer is a resounding 'yes'.  Change it to the 9 Cr 3's, or 18-45 CR 1's that will be available next level, I think it would at least be worth trying once.

Re: OOC Discussion 4

No problem Thraxis it takes me just about as long or longer to post, I understand.

I think a battle with hiro would be fun, I think I would need some serious dice roller love to beat hiro at this level.

Yeah, even at 7 (or even 9, maybe) I don't think I'd win, but at least it would be more entertaining.

I'd like to know the secret to dropping Hiro his furry of blows is just awful.  Hate Monks...JK lol :)

You and everyone else ;)

Might be kind of a fun challenge to see if I can burn through all of somebody's summons... anyone up for it?

I happen to know several such secrets, but like hell if I'm going to give them away. Hiro earned that title. If one of you wants to take it from him, you better damn well figure it out yourselves you glorious bloodthirsty bastards, you.

I say this in love, as I love the arena and all it's bloodthirsty bastards. :P

The worst part of Hiro's flurry is all his tripping glory. I'm going to have to try a trip build one day and see if I beat everyone as well :)

There's also the question of 'defeat him while at what level' -- at my current level I couldn't do it in a regular match, though I might have a chance if circumstances were favorable to me, if I was also level 11 I'd very likely have a better than even chance.

And I could definitely build characters that'd I'm pretty sure would beat him, though probably not at level 5.

Of course, the secrets of exactly how I would do such things can be told only to my fellow guild members.  *grin*

Re: OOC Discussion 4

Anyone can challenge the champion and apply negative levels to "level the playing field".

Or you could just fight in more duels until you're a high enough level. :P

Re: OOC Discussion 4

Yeah, Hiro taking negative levels might allow me to win now, though I'm not sure about that.  Things would still definitely favor him, I think.  My being able face him on more even ground if I was higher level is in large part due to abilities my class gains later.

Sadly life is keeping me too busy to really fight in matches much now, but this should change in three weeks.

Negative levels is an idea

Speaking of guilds is Shadows Caress recruiting, if so how much to gain entry and what are the prereques?

If you're a caster (and you are), the Thaumaturgical Alliance caters to your needs ;)

The only requirement is to be a spellcaster of some sort. Joining fee is 500gp (though you're welcome to donate more), then 5% of wins and draws, 0% on a loss.

Thank you for the offer will have to think about it.  I think my alignment may prohibit my entry.  Is it just CN, LN able to join or is it those two and NE, NG?

Re: OOC Discussion 4

We have no restrictions on alignment, other than the basic rule:

Alignments:
Guild members must be within 1 alignment step of the guildmaster. You may change your alignment at no cost upon joining a guild.

Josep is True Neutral, so anything that has neutral in its name is ok (LN, CN, NG, NE, and of course TN)
Remember you get to change your alignment for free if you want to when you join a guild.

Shadow Caress has a 500gp entry fee, though it is Latro's decision as to whether you get in.....

Re: OOC Discussion 4

 Dear GMs,

I don't know among you will have to time to set up and play out a Monster Hunt for Thaumaturgical Alliance in the very near future.

We have a couple of questions; notably:
  - how do you determine our group ECL (and thus gp/xp)?
  - how many gladiators can we have against one monster? (we were hoping 5)

Both of those are answered in the match type listing, but I'll be nice and summarize:

1. Average level of participants, rounded normally. Awards are calculated the same way a PvP match is, but you get items instead of gold.
2. 1-4 players in the match

Josep! You should hold out for a monster hunt with Latro and I... after he's out of his match we can have a guildmaster team-up :)

Re: OOC Discussion 4

I might let my guild members go on the monster hunt without me and take you on it actually!

We need to write a backstory for it. An ancient evil has risen. Today, sworn enemies become ally for the very survival of the arena... I can see the teaser already.

Re: OOC Discussion 4

3 guild masters enter.

Each competes to defeat the most monsters wave after wave and puts their very different skills to the test. That sounds awesome!
