Re: Monster Mash #5: Ankou vs. Edward vs. Grunyar vs. Thraxis

ooc: I think the Hag's command will be severely limited by two things. A - means of communication with the dinosaur and B - ability of the dinosaur to comprehend what he's being told...
Gunyar, I think the only effect of the spell is that Ankyolsaurus cannot attack the Hag (until the Hag herself attacks him)
If you have an other take on this, let us know.

OOC: Per the spell it is an opposed CHA check so it would be equal to a Handle Animal/Performance check.  My plan was just to tell it to attack one of the other beasts no complicated strategy and it can decide which to attack just not me :).  Any objections?

Re: Monster Mash #5: Ankou vs. Edward vs. Grunyar vs. Thraxis

Handle animal would be the skill to direct a dino, or a speak with animal ability or spell.  The hag doesn't have either and since the dinos don't have tricks, the handle animal DC would be higher than she can hit.  Given a lack of other means to communicate with animals, I think she's limited to being safe from each of us she casts it on.

The Cha check is explicitly to persuade them to do something they wouldn't normally do.  It could only happen once you have a way to communicate.  It would have to attack one of the others (or just defend itself) anyways.

ROLLS:
23:03, Today: Thraxis rolled 17 using 1d20+14 with rolls of 3.  Ankylosaurus Attack of Opportunity on War Bull.

23:03, Today: Thraxis rolled 30 using 4d6+15 with rolls of 3,6,2,4.  Readied action dmg on war bull.

ooc: Yeah, Grunyar pointed out that it would need to use up my move in another thread, which in this case doesn't hurt anything as it was unused. For the interrupt here, War Bull takes 30 and needs to make a DC 25 fort save (23 printed +2 increased str) or be dazed.

Re: Monster Mash #5: Ankou vs. Edward vs. Grunyar vs. Thraxis

Stegosaurus saw his distant cousin use his tail to stun their common enemy... and he was glad that he was not the one under the heavy keratin flail. This was as good a time as any, and possibly better than most, to come up close with the Ankylosaurus.

Stegosaurus moved forward, pushing rubble with his feet, and swung with his own tail. It was not as impressive as the one his heavily armoured cousin was sporting, but it did have a certain momentum...

-> Ankylosaurus is hit, takes 37 damage and is not tripped.

We are our own ref, so in the name of rushing to finish by 11/5, I'll go with this:
I agree with that unless the charm caster is the only target available.  (That'd be either at end of match or during down time waiting for zombies, not for simple loss of line of sight/effect.)  If the charmer and charmee are the only active combatants, arena immunities should apply, as it keeps the charmee from taking any attack action.

Re: Monster Mash #5: Ankou vs. Edward vs. Grunyar vs. Thraxis

Edward was exactly right.  Creatures provide cover, but it is only soft cover (no bonus to reflex saves).  Also, as less than half of the Ankylosaur is hidden, it's only partial cover.  Normally that reduction can only be made by GM ruling, but we're our own ref's, and this is the poster child of clear cases.

http://www.d20pfsrd.com/gamemastering/combat#TOC-Cover

Ankou is right about the stun, but it doesn't matter too much as you missed.

Also: Really guys?  Are you waiting to attack the hag until we're all unable to attack it?
