% = Tree branch canopy that falls half as low as the top of the trunk and 1.5x as high (+3 to +9 for small and +4 to +12 for large). Canopy provides cover and functions as difficult terrain for flying creatures trying to maneuver through it. You can brachiate through the canopy with a successful DC15 Climb check. One % is soft cover, two % is standard cover, three % is improved/superior cover and four or more % is total cover.

Grunyar, i'm not seeing your character sheet stats and whatnot that you need to post in your first post.

Please make sure that they are there and in a private message to me, Ugrim, and not the GM. (the GM can see it anyways)

This is the only chance you will have to edit you first post without fault. Make sure you do it right.

everyone else is good to go. Just wait for my say so and you can begin slapping eachother silly.

Still adjusting from his recent polymorphery, Ario has nothing snarky to say but focuses on gathering power and keeping all of his legs moving in the right directions.

SUMMARY: Ario takes a 5' step toward Grunyar and powers up.  If Grunyar is diagonal, Ario's 5' step towards Grunyar is by way of toward Hiro.  Ario then charges his elemental powers and chugs something.

OOC: So... we all failed to post starting positions w/ initiative.  I marked all of Ario's potential squares - if the next player (or the third if the next player is diagonal) could delete the wrong squares, I'd appreciate it.  To be clear, I don't want to 5' step toward the empty square.

There is indeed 1 prep round, Hiro.

Your movement is technically legal seeing as you did not run or charge and only used a move action. so you really only have a standard action left.

Grunyar tips his hat at the Monk unfolding large raven wings from his back and takes off flying ending up out of the monks reach he hopes with a Rod in his hand. Once settled he casts a spell and disappears from sight with a Grin and a Chuckle like the cheshire cat.

Sounds like 4th edition rules to me.  http://www.d20pfsrd.com/gamema...bat#TOC-Action-Types  You get 1 standard, 1 move, 1 swift/immediate, and some frees.  The only up paying is, as it says, using a standard for an extra move.  Further down, under swift actions it also says "You can, however, perform only one single swift action per turn, regardless of what other actions you take."  Unless there's a house-rule about "up paying" I missed?

Re: Juggernaut #11: Hiro vs. Grunyar & Ario

You know, this is an interesting subject.

quote:
A swift action consumes a very small amount of time, but represents a larger expenditure of effort than a free action. You can perform one swift action per turn without affecting your ability to perform other actions. In that regard, a swift action is like a free action. You can, however, perform only one single swift action per turn, regardless of what other actions you take. You can take a swift action anytime you would normally be allowed to take a free action. Swift actions usually involve spellcasting, activating a feat, or the activation of magic items.

by the rules you can only take one swift action a turn. The strange thing is that it also says you can take up to one swift action without affecting your other actions in that turn. So perhaps the ability to use move and standard actions to activate swift actions is also a thing?

The problem with suggesting that this is possible is however extremely terrifying. Take for example a spell caster who maybe has a bunch of spells quickened, If we allow move actions to be used for swift actions, then said spell caster now gets to cast three spells a turn. One swift spell, one swift spell as a move action, and then one more spell as a standard action and frankly thats donkey balls.

So honestly i think the restriction that swift actions can only be used once per turn is as far as it goes. Maybe if there was a further restriction that the same kind of swift action can not be used more than once per turn, then I'd be ok with move actions being used for an extra swift action.

But as it stands, seeing as i see nothing in the RAW and there is no house rule i can find in the arena, swift actions are a once per round thing, period. To allow more than one a turn could lead to terrifying consequences and i certainly am not going to be the founding father of that idea.

If GM Arkrim wants to add something to the rules about it, thats on him, but my ruling is that swift actions shall be limited to swift actions and only swift actions and no higher action may be repurposed to allow a second or third swift action in a turn.

I can't find anything to dispute this - I know I read somewhere that you're limited to a single quickened spell per turn regardless. I can see how in some cases it could be abused to trade a Standard for a Swift, so we can drop that part of my turn and carry on. Anything else I would do at this point would be metagaming since I know what Grunyar did on his turn, so let's carry on as normal.

Sorry about the Hiro figured it was going to go your way, or atleast in that a standard action could be traded for another.  I would be ok with you going ahead and taking your action save its not a move action to climb tree :)

Hiro, can you see reach through and see through earth?  Because otherwise my ac is at +4 for cover and if you can reach through earth but not see through it, I think you have a 20% miss chance for concealment.

Re: Juggernaut #11: Hiro vs. Grunyar & Ario

I just re-read the cover rules as I was about to link them for you.  I'd have cover against ranged, but in adjacent melee, you get to pick the square you attack.  (Which doesn't make sense to me as there's a size penalty to AC for being a bigger target, but that's RAW.)

Ario takes 49 damage (flesh of stone charged and activated gives DR 6/-).  I'll have my full post up in within an hour.
