Xin may have caught the eye of the wrong lady as from across the arena a hagrid old ratfolk waves back at him, smiling through rotted teeth as she strokes the head of a small dinosaur at her side.

"I hope you youngins know how to keep an old woman entertained. Consider this your community service."

Madam Opal begins in Square A10

Re: Monster Hunt #15: Welcome Home Traveller

Apparently, the monster trainers were fresh out of beasts if they were throwing normal training automatons at you...

A human-sized training dummy waddles into the arena with what appears to be a clown face painted on it and a glowing gem sticking out of it. With an eerie jagged smile and blank lifeless eyes, it cracks its mechanical knuckles and makes a strange metallic clattering noise that almost sounded like it was...chuckling to itself?

"Time to tenderize some meatbags..."

Re: Monster Hunt #15: Welcome Home Traveller

It had been quite some time since Opal had set foot in the arena. Fortunate for her that the arena was offering a warm up match to Jayce and any others that wanted to volunteer.

Weaving her hexes upon her body, Opal begins hovering and flies out from underneath her starting shelter towards Jayce.

"Long time no see, summoner. I hope your pets aren't as rusty as you are." Opal says as she looks across the arena towards the foe in the hopes of identifying it.

Svog follows his master and places himself in the opening of the building, blocking the way with his admittedly tiny size.

Re: Monster Hunt #15: Welcome Home Traveller

OOC: I applaud you Jayce. You didn't skip a beat and did everything perfectly save for a diceroller mislabel. No biggie. But you remembered the 50% miss chance creating an effect through cover and concentration (nat 20 autopass regardless of DC) and difficult terrain. I tip my hat to you sir. And here I was worried you'd come back to us rusty, but you're sharper than ever! Bravo! The only thing you forgot is that you have to declare your intended square IN the diceroll reason for the miss chance.

And Sasha provokes no AoO if she moved through Svog's square (but she also can't charge).

Re: Monster Hunt #15: Welcome Home Traveller

OOC: Not that the end result is any different, but your action should actually read as follows:

Move (move + draw potion as part of move), Standard (drink potion)

Drinking the potion is a standard action and drawing is a move or part of a move (unless you have Quickdraw).

This is important for accuracy just in case the order of operations makes a difference (for example, just in case you move past a foe or trap BEFORE turning invisible or something and whatnot). Just FYI.

OPAL? You there?

OOC: I rolled some AoOs. If they don't qualify, just ignore them. I have no idea what you did after all. I did not include the AoO in my descriptive text or damage done because I don't know if dummy casted a spell, used an ability, or the DM is just being nice and really did nothing but add flavor text because we're so dead anyway. That AC and CMD tho... Xin, you're up! punch it in the face. Please.

Re: Monster Hunt #15: Welcome Home Traveller

OOC: You only roll Reflex upon the initial creation. Thereafter it's an Escape Artist or CMB check to escape the web. And even then, you only need to make this if you're trying to escape or move. Hypothetically, if you'd passed the original Reflex upon creation and stayed still, you'd be fine (except for not seeing through it).

And yes, no AoOs were provoked. I specifically said this because the action looks like it normally would, but says specifically that it doesn't. Had you read my previous post like you were supposed to, you would've already known that.

Make sure your combat posts are more orderly and organized in the future. Not so many unnecessary dice rolls and actually list your ONE summary at the end of ALL your actions like you're supposed to.

@ OPAL
And FYI, I know normally you'd automatically fall down because of the web without making a flying movement, but we're ignoring that just for this last turn because we skipped you. It goes back into effect on your next turn. Please be here to post.

"Oh, great." Opal sighs as the webbing envelops her and her allies. "Thats a clockwork mage with a conjuration crystal. Hope you brought adamantine weapons... and the ability to bypass spell resistance... and lighting attacks."

Opal casts a spell enhancing the reflexes and speed of all her allies in the vicinity and waits, trying not to get caught int he web around her. Svog takes a defensive action.

Re: Monster Hunt #15: Welcome Home Traveller

OOC: Opal, you were flying when hit by webbing. If you pass the save, that means you're still flying and navigating through the webs. You have to make fly checks and any creature moving through the web must make an Escape Artist or CMB check as part of their movement or lose their movement and become grappled. Same DC as the spell.

Even if you "willingly fall" you'll need concentration checks to cast in mid-fall.

Re: Monster Hunt #15: Welcome Home Traveller

Well, opal is still on ground level even though she's flying, so if its all the same to you, i'll just touch back down to the ground that i'm hovering over.

As for svog, i simply forgot to update his movement from turn 1 so he's still in the same space as he was before after he moved in turn 1 so to speed things up, i'll just say he takes the total defence action again and pass the turn to the dummy.

if however, you'd still like a flay check anyways here ya go
17:42, Today: Madam Opal rolled 32 using 1d20+15 with rolls of 17.  Fly check.

I think a 32 passes any standard fly DC there is. :P

Re: Monster Hunt #15: Welcome Home Traveller

OOC: It's not about you failing a fly check. It's about determining what you do with your movement. If you wanted to remain flying or if you wanted to move from the spot you were standing, it would change your entire turn.

"Same space he was in" means nothing. The map determines where he is. If you didn't update the map, too bad. You should know by now that you're supposed to.
