I need to go and reinforce the shielding from sensors because we're going to be scanned upside and downside for the next few days.  I recommend you both heal."

I say to Forge "Yeah, let's just hope The Great Referee in the Sky gives us the time to heal before we're attacked." (<wink>)

"Wow!!" I say. Then, after she's bandaged, with her permission, I lay down next to her and embrace her. To provide some manner of comfort for us both whilst we rest. Magic is out, how's psionics? Maybe telepathically get inside each other's heads and share happy thoughts. It can't hurt.

Maybe when I wake up, my eyes will be back to normal.

She pauses, and then takes your hand.  You're able to reach her psionically, and in doing so you notice the vast difference in power and precision between her psi gifts and yours.  You learn a bit from her, but she's exhausted, and falls asleep halfway through the conversation.

+@1 to Intuition.
+@1 to Telepathy.

As to the safety....well, GE roll.  Now, the base had scan defenses already.  And Forge, a mutant genius inventor is upgrading them.  And no one is using their powers, much.  But on the other hand, the Sentinels are really motivated to track you guys down.  They will be spending much extra effort and burning reserves to try to find you, and bringing in Sentinels from other areas.

So....call it even.  Mid-range, you're not found. "12" on a 4d6.

Seven hours later, you hear a roaring turbine pass over the house.  It circles back.  Then, with Rachel clutching your arm, and everyone standing still, wide-eyed,  holding their breath, it goes on, and leaves the area.  There is more noises in the sky in the few days afterwards, but it fades.  And your sight comes back as well.

When my magic returns, I add Order to heal Rachel. Then I ask her more about what happened.

"What did those bracelets do for you? How did they help you channel your power?"

But I'm going to eat a hearty meal if I can get my hands on one. That should help with the healing process.

Then I'm going to ask Rachel if she knows where any more sentinel factories are located. Send her a telepathic vision of Phoenix and Magehammer side by side smashing those metal mothers into junk.

Send Phoenix an image of herself as Wonder Woman. Hero, beloved by all. And with magical bracelets. The Lynda Carter version, if possible.

Maan, telepathy makes hitting on women sooooo much easier.

Study the Order and Chaos in the oatmeal. I mean, seriously, study it. Try to put the image of it into my brain. The patterns of Order and Chaos. I Am Going to make a pot which makes food!!!!!! (Not yet, but it's on my List of Things to See and Do!!!!!)

So study the Order and Chaos in the oatmeal. Not building anything yet.

Study the image she sends. What's the Order/Chaos like? To which one of those would it be the most susceptible?

Do I have an extra Order weapon I could give her? I'd rather not make one if possible. I should have made a few by now, before all of this. I think she'd do good with an Order staff.

And we can train each other how to use staffs.

What I would want to build, as far as a pot that makes food, is something like this. Put water into it, put it on a fire. The water will transmute into food. Ideally, if you kept adding water, you would keep getting more food.

Is water the best choice for that? Fire is Chaos. Is water Orderly? I would think water would be a mix of both. Should I try using a more Orderly material instead of water? I mean, ya know, cuz I got pure Chaos underneath. Ideally water, but if sand or dirt is more Orderly and thus works better, so be it. As long as the result looks, smells, tastes and is as nutritious as oatmeal.

Or maybe forego putting it on the fire? Cold oatmeal is better than nothing.

The thing is see, fire, pure Chaos underneath. Would a container filled with Orderly material balance out that Chaos? Or do you want a material that is both Order and Chaos because it could transmute better? It's original Order/Chaos pattern is closer to oatmeal than something more Orderly would be. Do you get what I'm saying?

Which would work better?

What do I want to put into the pot? I would like to have fire and water, as those seem pretty universal in the Multiverse. But would dirt and solar heating work better? Do I need/want to heat it at all? Do I want to fill it with something Orderly to balance out the fire Chaos? Or, would water being closer to oatmeal than dirt is, would it transmute easier? I would imagine clay would be pretty Orderly. Maybe bake a block of clay and it turns into a cake? Clay is a little harder to come by. I'd prefer packed mud or something.

How would this work? Referee, put it on the back burner of that brain of yours, as I don't imagine anything like this was in the books.

BTW, you said it would be "Difficult". That's a looooong way from "Impossible".

With your oatmeal studies, you find that dirt and solar would work better, and that doing even the simplest food would be like building the ESB out of Legos, by yourself.  But this is a serious step forward, as now you can see a way.  +@1 Order/Chaos Magic Skill.

Yes, pro blacksmith.

Rachel is rueful but pleased at your imagery of her as beloved by all.

Her psi image cannot have Order/Chaos as she does not perceive Order or Chaos.

At first your sparring goes to her, as she reads your mind.  But as you both speed up, you both are reacting faster than thought can form.  And then something kicks in, and you're drifting into an Orderly form of defensive stick fighting.  And suddenly, she can't even get close to you.

What I mean by that is be far enough away that, from my point of view, the hammerhead would look like it's covering the entire thing. Then smash it with Order. Like how you can hold the sun in your hand? Be in a position so that the factory looks to me like it's underneath my hammerhead and smash it with Order. Would that work?

Yup, that's a botch.

She doesn't, but Forge does.  There is one in Southern Michigan near the border with Ohio.

Any suggestions? Maybe I could try tapping Order and Chaos sources again? I think it was Order to open the portal and Chaos to move through it. Could I tap Order/Chaos sources to do that?

OOC) In the games I run, Order teleportation can only take you as far as your eye can see. Chaos teleportation can take you anywhere. However, Chaos teleport runs the risk of being caught inside a solid object. Order teleport just risks slamming into solid objects that you could see.

Try to do that on a small scale. Try to crush an empty soda can or something with that. Hold the hammer so that I can see the can underneath it, but it's not really underneath it. Then smash.

"Rachel, if I do that to a whole factory, that's probably gonna knock me out again and you'll have to get me out of there."

OOC) "Ready boys? Let's roll." was the last thing heard from the plane on 9/11 which was taken from the terrorists by passengers and crashed in Pennsylvania.

IC) Whilst Blink is scouting the area I kneel down and pull out my hammer. Close my eyes and try to focus on drawing in Order from the surrounding area. Once Blink gets back, raise the hammer up over the sentinel factory so that it looks like it's underneath my hammer. Use Order sight and keep my eyes closed it if helps. Then HULK SMASH!!!!!!! Start smashing it. I trust that Rachel can deal with any sentinels that manage to escape whilst I'm doing this.

When this is done, I'm probably exhausted. Tell Blink to Blink us out of here. But not back to Forge. Tell her to Blink us somewhere she hasn't blunk to in a while. Somewhere far away from anywhere she's blunk to recently. Hope Rachel is willing to come. Gotta keep moving.

I think you said that mud and sunlight would work the best? Any reason for that, or are you just pulling it out of your hat? Anyway, that's got me thinking. Not a kettle, a baking pan. Fill it with mud, leave it in the sun, and in so many hours you've got cake or bread or something. Maybe oat bread since I was studying oatmeal so intensively. I want to build a magical whatchamacallit that will make food out of something inedible. I could imagine these people could really use something like that.

Thoughts from the referee?

Solar is probably more Orderly than fire, and water is hard for you to use, plus you are not just making the molecules of the food out of nothing, you need the elements in the food to be present in order for them to be manipulated ...which probably does mean you need some water as much of food is high in water.

Blink nods, and blinks out.

The granite underneath the ground, about fifty feet down calls to you, and you sink your mind into it, drawing up Order.  As you do, you focus it into links in the air.  And more power, and more power you draw.  Rachel touches your shoulder, and you feel her lend you mental focus with her telepathy.

You sense a flare of Chaos from the building, and warn Rachel enough that she can throw up a shield.  Still she staggers under the attack of a pop up disruption turret cannon on the roof of the building.

And then Rachel sends a horrified image into your brain.  Blink got everyone out, but went back one more time to doublecheck.  A Hispanic looking man stepped out from where he had been hiding, and transformed into an eight foot tall metal bot.  Blink teleports wildly, out of control away, escaping.

OOC) I was kind of thinking that water is everything. Everything can be broken down into water at some level. What does that mean "Need the elements in the food to be present"? What? It's got to have so many carbon atoms and so many hydrogen atoms? Or it's got to have an Order/Chaos pattern to it?

At the cannon shot, I lose focus momentarily. But I get it back with a little help from Rachel. I try to turn her so I am between her and the cannon, if I can do that without losing sight of the building. Maybe my trenchcoat could take one blast? Who is to say? Let's not find out though, shall we?

So we just discovered that they can become people. Terminators. Good to know.

Once Blink is out, I yell "HULK SMASH!!!!" and begin smashing the building with my hammer. Smash it flat. Kinda like what Hulk does to Loki. Try to remember to hit it an Orderly number of times. Even. Odd is Chaotic and (At least in my games) Primes are super Chaotic. I could see an argument made for them being Orderly, but it's my system.

When I'm finished I turn to Rachel and hug her tight. Maybe kiss her cheek. I'm probably exhausted so I tell her teleport us out of here. Hug me and teleport us. To her childhood home. Or someplace she considers safe.

There's nothing I can do about those half-dozen sentinels that Rachel can't do to them. So I'm going to keep smashing the building. If those six are the only survivors, I can deal with that. Once the building is gone, check to see how many Sentinels Rachel hasn't turned to dust and see what I can do.

I regularly make brownies (hehehe!!!) There's only about a quarter cup of water used for an entire pan of brownies. It gets the rest of the moisture from oil and eggs. My point though is that what I would want to make is an eight inch by eight inch baking pan. Eight seems like an Orderly number. Fill it with dirt and a quarter cup of water, leave it in the sun and you've got brownies. Or cake or bread or something. I would think mud would have a consistency closer to brownies than bread, but as long as it's edible.

Next time I'm at a blacksmith shoppe, this is what I'm doing.

Your next strike caves in the roof on the center left, but leaves the walls standing.  Your next strike takes care of that.  But you are breathing hard, and your legs tremble.  Off to your left and above you can see flashes of light in the sky as Rachel battles the Sentinels.  They keep trying to swing around to come down on you, and she uses that as an opportunity to take them out.  So far one Sentinel has mud-dived a hundred yards in front of you, and one fifty yards behind you.  Both are smoking and burning.

Another strike at the building does little, and with your Order Sense you can see another half dozen Sentinels inside, all helping to hold up the roof.  A disruption cannon fires at you, but its shot is weak as its power supply is interrupted.  Your coat turns the attack, but the grass around you smoulders.  You launch another attack, and you can feel the land under you getting softer, and subsiding a bit.
