Sorry! I screwed up! Cador's the older twin and Geoffrey was a few minutes younger. *baps bad GM brain*

Re: OOC

I think we want the conquest of Nolava, and maybe Pendragon’s Purge in there.

(As I read it Oriana goes up shortly after the Purge so that might be in 21.  The conquest has to be earlier but not, I think too much earlier - I prefer a later date, anyway..  Maybe somewhere around 15?)

If anyone wants to talk about how our characters relate or any shared past events, send me a PM.  Or maybe there should be a game thread for talking character relationships, given the closeness in age?

Re: OOC

I'm an admirer of the whole general idea of linking our backstories.  Could you give a bit more about Cador maybe?  Just from his bio he seems like sort of a shiny noble warrior sort, almost like a paladin?  And he dreads being asked to flirt with his sisters on behalf of his comrades.  :D  Branwen fled Avalon at fourteen years old, somewhat before the moment when it would have been decent for her to be the subject of that sort of attention, and I'm not sure the resulting reputation she'd have acquired in the time since she's been back would have lent itself to being thought of in a romantic sort of way by actual grownups.  She'd have been a big fan of spending time with her older siblings though.  What else is there about him that a non-militarily-inclined little sister might have related to?

Re: OOC

I think I've spent most of the last 2 to 4 years with 'Aunt' (think she's actually my niece :P) Oriana, in Tolava... She has been my personal mentor and guide.  As someone that can turn into an Owl (my Avatar form), getting there is pretty easy for me... I think...

In reply to Branwen (msg # 117):

Well, not exactly.  Being a knight wasn’t really his choice.  And some of those poems are really bad :-)

He likes flying, including flying through Shadow, and he might be found quietly reading in the library.

I guess he could take Branwen out for a flight on Aurelius.  (And about the ponies,  Aurelius loves ponies, he says they’re delicious)

Ooo, flying!  Branwen would have absofreakinglutely adored that.  Can a giant eagle carry both Cador and a 90-pound girl?  :D

Re: OOC

Thoughts:

  • Year 28: Kierahn witnesses Merlin shape shift, and becomes obsessed on the ability.  For the next two years, everyone decides it's just a phase, and he'll lose interest shortly.
  • Year 30: Oriana visits Merlin in Avalon, and based on Merlin's suggestion, and Corwin's approval, Kierahn is sent to Nolava to train under Oriana for two years (before Branwen disappears).
  • Year 32: Kierahn returns to Avalon to celebrate Branwen's return with the family, flying there on his own wings as an Owl before returning to Nolava.
  • Year 32: Thor is born from Kierahn's blood, an owl that has progressively increased in size throughout the years.
  • Year 33: Though Oriana would not admit it to anyone, she 'lost' Kierahn for a bit, but was able to find him after a bit of searching.
  • Year 34: Kierahn returns to the family for good, having finished his tutelage under Oriana, his first action being to hug Caitriona before showing himself to his mother and father.

Re: OOC

The GM decides that.  But I think it should be possible.  For the attack on Nolava I think you’d need to be able to put a fully armed and armoured knight on a bird - at least that for an eagle which would be one of the largest.  And if the birds are the main means of transport to Novala they ought to be able to carry passengers (at least one).

(And apart from practical considerations an eagle snatching defenders from the wall while carrying an armed and armoured knight is just too cool an image to be impossible)

Re: OOC

Even if Corwin is exaggerating about a one-year-old Cylenian being ten feet tall at the ankle, those raptors can carry multiple armored knights.  (If he's not exaggerating, I'd guess one or two dozen.)  Aurelius would barely notice an extra Branwen :).

Regarding courtly love poetry: not along after majority, Erica adopted (and made known) the policy that a man may only court her if he can first defeat her in individual combat.  Shortly thereafter she was forced to add the codicil that anyone who loses such a bout must wait a full year before challenging her again.  The knights now try to determine which of them she likes best by who suffers less bruising in his annual duel.

Re: OOC

While Cait is going to be delighted with her twin's return, he's also going to find a much quieter and serious young woman from the free-spirited playmate of his earlier years.

Branwen's disappearing act had consequences for those who aren't Branwen, ones that are still being felt to the present day.

Meanwhile Kierahn is the opposite... it seems nothing can dampen the spirit in his eyes, or the joy in his smile.  Even at her most sullen moments, he's the sort that's going to put his arm across her shoulders and tell her a joke he recently heard.

Re: OOC

Cait's not sullen in the least, she seems to make it her business to do things to make people smile. She's unlikely to let on if she's having a problem because that would cause others to be unhappy.

What has toned down greatly is her free spiritedness. Losing her two closest age siblings within weeks/months of one another was kind of a big deal to a 12 year old.

After Branwen took off, Mom and Dad put the brakes on Cait's chances of walking the Pattern any earlier than possible (she still hasn't taken it) or introduction to court and society at large. She would like to know what all the fuss over poetry and giving favors at jousting tournaments is all about but it seems that their parents aren't in a rush to let her find out.

While she's still quite scientifically motivated but is far more likely to try controlled experiments as opposed to "let's see how high I can make this swing go" in order to find out the exact trajectory an eight year old would take in jumping from it....

Hmm... Okay so maybe toning down her wildness isn't all a bad thing.
