Dne descends quickly and informs the group.  And urges them to be more quiet.

"We should set an ambush from around the clearing. When the others arrive, we spring our trap. I can put a few arrows into them and you can cast your spells. If they last long enough, I'll close on them and help them finish the stragglers."
With a destination, Aegis moves quickly and quietly to the edge of the clearing to good cover. When he arrives at the clearing edge, he crouches and waits for the others to arrive.

In reply to Aegis (msg # 407):

"Shh. We should get between them and their camp. Lets see if they leave a camp guard..."

She sneaks like a shadow towards the camp, looking for the leader.

Now that the slotted time has past, Melchizedek leads the group and the mule, with all items packed, away from their camp and up the road.

Darius, still staying away from the mule, tries to ensure some fairly loud conversation is ongoing to really earn them the moniker of "loud group".

Three men step out of the woods and onto the road.
They have small shield, wear black gambesons with red sashes and pot helms, and have drawn broadswords. They also wear axes and knives at their sides.

"lay down your arms and throw us your purses!"

He mutters what seems like a curse, and his finger begins to glow!

Darius takes two steps to the side, staff in his left, his right hand relaxed. He'll let Melchizidek do his convincing impression of a wandering priest.

"You can shoot an arrow? Can you deal with the wrath of Helios?"

He points his finder at the chest of the speaker, but fires just wide.

"So you think just the three of you and your hidden friend are enough to take what belongs to the gods? We are going to need a lot more convincing than that..."

Dne starts casting Explosive Lightning.  He’ll spend 3 points for each of two seconds for a total of six points, then cast it at the one in the middle.

Re: Stalking Balar

With the fight now apparently joined and himself standing in the open, Darius flicked his fingers and spoke a word of power, his skin acquiring a slight sheen.

[Private to GM: OOC:
Using the One-Day Bulwark prepared previously. That's rolling against Protection-5 (12).

19:51, Today: Darius Kopaki rolled 11 using 3d6 ((1,4,6)).

That's a success, meaning the actual casting roll is at +/-0.

19:52, Today: Darius Kopaki rolled 9 using 3d6.  Casting Bulwark: vs 17.

Also successful; that's +6DR for the day.

Re: Stalking Balar

In reply to Darius Kopaki (msg # 420):

The road agents being met by the loud group are several hundred yards zway from the main encampment, and the stealthy group is not in contact with eachother. (You all went offroad to approach an encampment, and are not currently near the road where this combat is occurring, and while you are within twenty yards of the main encampment, you had not yet approached. Sorry for the delays in response, I have been away for a couple weeks)

Aegis' arrow fells the whistler.
Dne raises a ball of lightning, and will be ready to launch it in another two seconds.

An arrow from another direction (unknown) hits Melchizadek in the torso! Take 4 pts impaling after DR, x3

Dne, another arrow from an unknown source above you strikes you for 2 points impaling before DR! Make a will roll-(damage that penetrates) to avoid dropping your lightning!

The remaing two men you can see (there are apparently three archers you cannot see) advance on Melchizadek and Dne, and will be in combat with them in a second!

Masugatan is free to act!

Meanwhile, Darius has successfully activated his defensive incantation. Per rolls for him and Reanna to see if they notice any guards....

Melchizadek takes the hits heavily, and while he stays standing, the sunbolts missed the target, his attacker. He slumps on the donkey after firing it off, breathing heavily.

[Private to GM: No DR, so 12 points of damage. x3 because they targeted vitals, I presume! He is at -1 HP in that case, though passed all will rolls to stay functioning. Please Role play Reanna, as I have to go to an exercise that will go until Friday.]

Reanna tugs lightly at Darius' sleeve, and points with her lips up toward one of the trees ahead. A faint creaking noise can be heard, and high in the branches a man with a bow leans back against the bole of the tree to take a drink from a small flask.
