Re: Exploring the Western Plains

Octavia hands the copy of the treaty to Razmatin to hold, looking to the rest of the group.  "I must confess that the fight took more out of me than I had anticipated.  A rest tonight and leaving in the morning may be a good idea."

"I'm always good for a feast," Tatyana agreed, though with some trepidation about what the kobalds might eat.

Re: Exploring the Western Plains

Filarion, with a look back up and it of the cave sighs, "That would be great, but I hope you understand that I will be sleeping outside. Bring on your normal fare and will eat whatever you have, it will be interesting." A smile cracks his face as the elf finishes his exclamation. He does note the odd kobolds that had came out of hiding with an eye of interest, but, whatever his thoughts are, he says nothing.

Re: Exploring the Western Plains

Mikmek seems happy
“We eat lots of fishes, radishes and berries.”

It turns out to be true enough that the dinner is mostly fish and root vegetables, though they also have corn.  Although there is also crayfish and turtle dishes for more adventurous tastes.

Octavia decides to try the turtle dish, needing something with more heartiness than just the vegetables.  This was a good start to what she hoped was some sort of peace for this land.

Re: Exploring the Western Plains

Impressively the kobolds wares are a mix of metal, pottery and wooden bowls.  The kobolds have spoons for eating the soups but no forks as they use their claws for eating meats....

The turtle soup has a light flavor, but the distinct undercurrent of the unique taste of turtle.

The water is clear and refreshing and a spicy fermented moon radish beverage is offered, but the smell is a little off putting.

If no one has anything else....
The kobolds wave en masses as you head out.
The wide open plains here basically represent the kobolds “backyard” so there is no real indications of danger...

Tauron is happy to join and eat what given him.
He make sure his two friend have enough to eat as well.
Then as usual follow the party along in what ever direction they think is best.

Tatyana eats lightly, never quite sure that 'turtle' isn't more sinister meat. What does human taste like anyways? She shuddered to think of it.

She kept her eyes peeled as they rode out.

Re: Exploring the Western Plains

Filarion eats anything that would be new to him, which wouldn't be much, but there possibly would be. Perhaps a different spice, or a different oil, or something similar. He does make it a point to speak to Mikmak about the odd kobolds. What they were and how they came to be chief in his questions.

True to his word, at night he rests out under the stars, feeling a sense of quiet after the celebration. Alone with his thoughts, his mind sounds with possibilities as he listens to the wildlife.

The next morning, he gets in his normal morning run beside his horse Linta long before the others wake up. Afterwards, and after a light breakfast, he bids their new allies good day with a genuine smile.

Re: Exploring the Western Plains

The ride along the plains is pleasant in the early morning but the temperature is unseasonably warm.

Mikmek talks about the kobolds answering questions as he can...
“Kobolds carry the scale colors of any kind of dragon, but many are black, red or green; others are more rare.  Some have teeth for biting, wings for flying and the ability to breath energy, those are rare.  One of the white ones breaths icy cold like the winter wolf he has many tasks among the tribe....”

Mikmek trails off and enjoys the sunshine on his face

Re: Exploring the Western Plains

Octavia keeps the winter wolf cloak on the horse, the heat of the day making the fur too warm to wear. "That is good to know.  Do you know if there are other kobold tribes here among the plains?" she asked as she kept a careful eye out as they began their travel back to Oleg's.

Mikmek points towards the mountains well beyond the borders of the chartered area....
“Very far away, perhaps not even still there if Tartuk destroyed them.”
He shrugs his shoulders he then has a sudden thought....

“There is a forest drake who flies over the entire area.”

Re: Exploring the Western Plains

The exploration goes well the grasslands are home to grouse and rabbits mostly and by midday you have scared up a fair batch of both.  The plains grass is only midcalf in height, but also not very rocky.

The day is uneventful the most excitement is when a large group of grouse fly up directly in front of mikmek and he reacts with a sudden gout of flame that brings down 7 birds.

"Lunch."
He grins at you as if he just invented a new food

Octavia had been watching the plains, keeping watch.  She looked to Drezghl and Tatyana.  "Do either of you see anything out of the ordinary?" she says as she calls for a break to rest the horses and have a meal.

"Why do you ask?  Does something trouble you?", Drezghl asked.  He stood in his stirrups to get a bit higher up and looked around slowly and carefully.

Re: Exploring the Western Plains

Tauron swan makes a very large and aggressive noise.
The swan waddles up to Mikmek and looks over the grease.  It takes a good look.
The other odd creature that is Tauron friend goes over to the grouse and makes smacking lips noises.  The swan makes a hoking noise first at Milmak then at reptile.

The swan walk back to Tauron make a lot more honking noise.
Calm down.  Your ok and no he not going do that to you ok
He tells his swan.

Tauron look over at Milkmek.
I be careful if I was you.  Don't do that to any swans.  At least not when our friend here is around.  He not your average swan.  You really don't want get on his bad side.

Tauron calls his other friend over before it starts eating Milmak grease.

"Well that wasn't very sporting," the elf says with a fair bit of sarcasm. "Although very efficient." He joins the others for the meal, though his face doesn't portray any satisfaction.

Mikmek is fine with the words he nods his head and grins...
“Mikmek catches fish by swimming fast and biting them....can’t swim through the air.”

Mikmek notes the direction you are heading.
“You still want to see the ghost of the river?”
