Re: Chpt 2.2b - Snake Skull Alley
For the first time in a long while, Filimena finds herself unable to say anything. She is not upset so much as she is in a state of shock. Well, that's not quite true. She is slightly upset -- at her patron, who, she can't help but feel, has strung her along a little bit. She's been looking for her brother for years, after all. Presumably, They had known he was in Titans Gate when They brought her to this city. Could They not have guided her straight to him, instead of sending her on adventures all over -- or, more precisely, under -- the city? Was there a point to all that peril?
Filimena allows herself to be gently nudged towards the door at first. Halfway there, however, she nimbly spins around and heads back towards the bar, where the bottle of pixie brandy seems to glow like a lighthouse on a dark and foggy night. She pours herself a glass, downs it in a single gulp, nods slightly at it, impressed, puts the glass down, and takes a deep breath. She needs to establish, first of all, whether or not the Fin that Floon and Ranear had seen was really her brother. After all, Finneas is a fairly common name for halflings. As it happens, Filimena knows about twelve. And sure, her brother did have a suspicious tendency to wear clothes, but that's neither here nor there. No. She shouldn't get her hopes too high up. Maybe her patron is playing tricks on her. She hasn't known Them to be especially tricky, but inter-planar beings are, to a degree, unknowable. That is after all sort of their schtick. Maybe they've decided to turn trickster. That would not be entirely unprecedented.
Filimena glances quickly out the door, then back at Floon, then at Ranear, and when she realises she can't remember which of the two said what, addresses them both, "Arcanist's Ward, you said? Off Brightcoin Lane? That's not far for here, is it?"
