Munch:
He said he was hitting you with it, and I'm not letting him change it now since that would put me at -1.
You are right - it is unfair for me to change my mind because I hadn't read the battlefield and got hit with payback damage from Grizzly's Leyline of Combustion when I targetted Grizzly with Geralf's entering the battlefield ability... however I did it TWICE in the same turn. What WOULD be fair is to allow me to at least change the second one - since I think I would have noticed the damage hitting me from the first occasion and had a chance to say to myself - "
hey, that was painful, where did that come from? Oh yeah, that was dumb - let me not do that again!" - before the second activation.
But hey, we're both about to lose to Grizzly anyway, so it's all moot... :-)
SO - to correct my life at the end of my last turn - instead of the 14 I had writtem, I should have only actually had 3. -8 from two ill-advised targetting of Grizzly and -3 from forgetting Roiling Vortex damage (and Torbran's extra) in my upkeep last turn. Which would basically mean MY death in my upkeep...
IF we allowed me to actually revert ONE of Geralf's to target Munch instead - leaving him either on 1 - then my life starting my turn would be 7...
TURN EIGHT
Untap,
Upkeep, Take 1+2 damage from two Vortex - presumably enhanced by Torbran to 3+5.
- Which would kill me, but in response to the triggers, I tap Ayara and sacrifice Geralf's Messenger, who comes back to play with a +1/+1 counter. Geralf's messenger deals 2 damage to Munch, killing him, then Ayara deals 1 damage to Grizzly, and I gain 1 life, meaning I survive my upkeep on 1 life.

Attack Phase:
Tap and attack Grizzly with Geralf's Messenger (4/3, Undying)
AND then concede - since I'm going to die in my next upkeep and I haven't done anywhere near enough to kill Grizzly.
That Torbran is a seriously bad ass general!
