[OOC] Player Chat II

I'm dealing with a persistent illness.

John - Inn was paid, so rooms for Luna shouldn't be an issue. Same for Xenophon.

I'm gonna start calling your group the power rangers. "Need moar powah!"

Unless someone really desperately needs an IC post response from me, I'm ready to push forward to the next day and your plans for whatever it is you're planning on doing.

Well, Khorolf already has tribal tattoos and war paint, so why not more tattoos? Some of those look pretty useful!

Hm... +5 to Background (to boost his Mystic Bartender), +2 Resistance, and the 23 spell resistance. Skills would be mre interesting, but bouncing minor spells off his tattooed muscles is just too barbaric to pass up.

In reply to Game Master (msg # 71):

As I recall he fought a few "sorcerers" in the original novels, and shrugged off some of the minor spells by dint of being a mighty barbarian. Still, it has been a long time since I read them.

Of course, in the original books he was a thief too.

Mostly I think it was his willpower that threw off the spells. I still have the original set of 12 books somewhere. I read them once every 10 years or so.

Eh... spell hits, fails to take effect. Call it will, being a mighty barbarian, having magic-resistant muscles, the blessing of tribal gods or shamans... it's all "resistant to minor spells".

Hm. I wonder what kind of stories the Northern Barbarians have about underground places? Maybe something with the Drow; they've been around for quite a long time.

[OOC] Player Chat II

Hm, Traits... They're always a bit hard to determine from the "inside"... But I'd lean towards:

Very High: Altruistic (He is all about support), Faithful (His friends and duties take top priority), Helpful (Very), Honest (Hasn't lied to anybody, very down on lying), (Proud) (he stepped forward to try and talk down a pit fiend and doesn't like having his knowledge challenged), Objective (he evaluates things quite rationally, Organized (Lists!), and Cerebral (he certainly isn't a physical type).

High: Cultured (Even if it is ancient cultures), (Steadfast) He's willing to withdraw, but is down on giving in), Merciful (generally pretty nice to defeated enemies), Mystic (not that he doesn't like a little luxury, but even his way of getting it is by magic), Open (He will gladly explain, even if few want to listen), Optimistic (tried to talk down a pit fiend), Patient (He has time), Indulgent (why shouldn't he have a good time?), Trusting (he was willing to take a Pit Fiend at it's word - or, more recently, the giant we just fought), and Cautious (He very much wants to have a plan and an exit strategy if the plan goes bad first).

Moderately High: Hedonistic (Teenage Male), Energetic (Wants to do things), Follower (he provides a lot of information and makes plans, but rarely pushes them very hard), (Antisocial) (his closest companions are summonings), and Stoic (he does put up with things).

Even: Curious/Focused (He does like to find out stuff, but also gets very focused on things), Forgiving/Vengeful, and Principled/Expedient (He much prefers principles, but is willing to do whatever it takes to achieve them).

As a general question for everyone... does that look about right?

[OOC] Player Chat II

Traits are basically a personality profile. They come in opposing pairs that always sum to 21. You're very brave? Bravery is high and the opposing trait - Cowardly - is low.

If a "Brave Warrior" keeps running away, their Bravery will tend to go down, and Cowardly will go up.

So it's mostly a tracker for how characters actually behave.

There are some optional rules (special bonuses for very high traits) or using Trait rolls for things (are you merciful enough to use the Chalice of Healing? Noble enough for the king to recognize you? Honest enough that no one will question your warning?) but that's mostly secondary.

So the question is basically... is that the way that you'd say Gerad acts? Or is he - say - much more Focused on specific situations than generally Curious? (I could see that one).

Despite the irony... the Archon moved over that way, thus placing the Imp in it's circle of protection from evil effect. Since that let the Imp inside, it is currently being protected by the Archon's holy power, despite being am inherently evil minor devil.

I tend to presume that (especially when they're acting as advisors) that the mutual focus on "Law" is just as potent a mechanism for more or less getting along as lawful good and chaotic good characters find their mutual desire for "Good".

I don't know if we have anyone who's really chaotic around. Even Khorolf seems to be pretty big on Tradition and Hospitality and Honor and all those tribal rules/the Code of Uthgar. Unless perhaps his alignment is simply "Neutral Beer".

Good Beer of course! Closely allied with Fine Wine and Excellent Spirits against Skunked, Corked, and Rotgut!

Then of course there are those blasted neutrals, who drink stuff that isn't fermented at all...
