No i mean #3 as the npc's are just assigned a DC, assigning them a 16 instead of a 15 is simple and removes the is this opposed or just a flat DC question each time.

I used shadowrun as an example because you actively roll defense vs attack.

If we were to go with system 1, then might as well just use system 3 and just make the number 1 more when we are told the number.


For example game play using system 2:

GM, DC 15
Player : OK i'll burn 1 to get 15
GM : oh this is opposed not a static check
player : Oh i didnt know i'll burn 2 then...

1 hour later...

GM ok DC 12
players : well as i burned 2 points last time i'm down to 12 so i have to burn 1 to get 13
GM: oh this one isnt opposed
player : oh then i dont have to burn any

System 3 IMHO makes both of these conversations null, as in the first one the GM could just say DC 16, and the second DC 12... removing the confusion and cross posting in a Play by post format especially.

If you're trying to beat a creature's CR (or multiple of), then that's opposed.  Otherwise it's unopposed.

I lost power yesterday due to the storm that hit New England. 16 hours without electricity and counting. A lot of roads in and out of the city are still blocked by fallen trees. I'm charging my phone in one of the few open corner stores with power. It's bizarre, but also kind of a neat little adventure :D

We get so used to having electricity available.  There was a storm seven or eight years back that put a tree down on the power line going to our house, and knocked trees down all over the state.  Tons of people without power for days, so the power company naturally wasn't too concerned with the tree on our line.  We ended up three weeks without power, while all our neighbors had theirs back in a couple of days.  A very long extension cord from the nearest neighbor kept the refrigerator going, but other than that it was an adventure.  We got so used to the absence of the constant electrical hum in the house that we were a bit disappointed when the electricity came back on.

Yep! That happened to us when I was a kid during a big ice storm. Two weeks with no power. Fortunately I already got mine back today. Still no internet though :(

It’s Christmas Time!

We don’t do a lot for the season anymore but my time will be more limited the rest of this week. Then, my adult daughter comes in for a few days and she will be my focus.

I’ll keep up as best I can.

The last major power outtage here i was out of town that week, and my then wife was at home with this kid, luckily my aunt got her power on after the first day.

We had a second doredo come through this summer, but my power was only out for 12 hours or so.   I have a generator for the whole house but i have not actually installed it.  But i do have all the equipment to do the install in the house.  Project that just has not gotten completed like so many others.

I've got internet and power again, woo!

It took me a minute to adapt to it. But as I am, I'm liking it more.

Also, my holidays were quiet and nice. Hoping to escape any unnecessary NYE nonsense too. Haha.

I've been playing "My Time at Sandrock" for a lot of my Christmas vacation. Ended up basically making Red XD

I know this game is more of a medieval setting, which is definitely not what Sandrock is, but I thought it might be fun to share! I'd love to see other's characters visualized, in whatever format they like!

I own both. I could barely start Portia, but Sandrock is a big leap in terms of quality.
