Heath:
"I have also had suspicions that there is a traitor among us. Word of this 'Tarimar' is common in the southlands, where I have just been engaged in battle with the orcs for many months. Some dwarves even have some interest in Tarimar's cause because we all share the same passion of getting the orcs out our lands. They are a parasite and a cancer."
He leans his cane against the table and pulls out a folded parchment. "I have taken some notes about people I believe may be in league with Tarimar and hiding among us. This Nimith gnome is one of them. At first, I was looking for the tattoo on the arm. Then I heard that some of his followers get tattoos on their backs instead. And there may be other ways to tell. I have three potential suspects:"
He looks over the parchment and then looks up and says:
"Nimith, of course. I have never seen his back, and he seems to know too much about Tarimar. He also speaks lightly, even joking, about Tarimar. He may have the tattoo, or he may have some other item of significance from Tarimar to signify their allegiance. At certain times, he also has a very convenient failure in his memory. Just ask him about where he lived or what he did six months ago and you will see.
The next is Polyanthar. He is a dwarf gambling lord, or so they call him. No principals, he'd sell his mother for one orc Drakma. He has the tendrils of his intelligence everwhere, trying to get secrets. He may be one of Tarimar's men, or he may not have joined him but instead sold information to Tarimar for a price. I heard tell that he has a newly acquired ruby brooch in a scarab shape. He told those who enquired that he got it from me, which he certainly did not. He is suspicious, but he has his retainers and bodyguards too, so be careful.
The last is Anlisade. He went on an excursion for about six months time and returned with a chest of spoils. He will not tell anyone where he went or how he got it, and he no longer goes to the public bathhouses, so his arms and back are never exposed. I believe he may have visited Tarimar, and rumor has it that Tarimar gave him a necklace with certain magical properties, something that Tarimar values. Anlisade is a powerful dwarf with more sons than I have fingers, and they will stand with him as powerful adversaries, so be careful.
I fear if Tarimar's man is among these, he may do something soon to bring Tarimar to us. If you can find and stop him, I will do my best to get Krugoth to give you much more of the treasure than he already has. He will be grateful, I am sure."
He folds the parchment back up, offers to tell you where Anlisade and Polyanthar are at, and waits to see if you have any questions.
As Pamaran relates his suspicions, Adaran listens with interest, but also studies the dwarf's face intently. When Pamaran finishes, he nods and replies quietly,
"I have the same suspicions about Nimith. He's definitely hiding something, and seems considerably nervous about staying out of this conference hall for too long. If I had to guess, I'd say he might be a paid informant. He has all the typical signs of a rat - nervousness, dodgy answers, paranoia about being interrogated. What do you know about his background?"
