Duanthar steps up.  He makes his last throw, and again it hits the hay.

Grizz missed by 1; Duanthar missed by 4 again.

Polyanthar steps forward and congratulates Grizz.  "It seems you have bested my man in javelin.  Why don't we try arm wrestling or darts next."  He looks to Grung and Naj for the next contest.

Grizz gives a triumphant smile.  "Well played, friend.  I won competitions in my youth and as a fisherman had to harpoon whales, and you were as good as they get."

Re: The Traitor - Polyanthar (Grizz, Grung, Naj)

With a grunt, Grung sits at the wrestlers table and raises his thickly muscled arm while he waits for Cynth to join him.  Starting out strong Grung pushes furiously, but seems to tire after a bit...

OOC:  Good rolls for the first and second, third not so much.  (Especially against a dwarf who's sure to have a high con!)

13:39, Today: Grung rolled 7 using 1d20. 3rd roll (con).
13:38, Today: Grung rolled 18 using 1d20+6. 2cd roll.
13:38, Today: Grung rolled 16 using 1d20+6. 1st roll.

Re: The Traitor - Polyanthar (Grizz, Grung, Naj)

Cynth and Grung begin to arm wrestle.  At first, Grung gets the advantage, but then Cynth gets him as Grung gets tired.

Grung gets advantage in the two strength rolls, Cynth in the constitution roll.

Next three rounds, Grung gets an additional +1 roll to each roll (+2 for 2 advantages, -1 for Cynth's advantage.)

14:27, Today: Grung rolled 13 using 1d20+7. 2nd roll.
14:27, Today: Grung rolled 21 using 1d20+7. 1st roll.

Re: The Traitor - Polyanthar (Grizz, Grung, Naj)

OOC: Sorry, my post was a little confusing.  +7 is the amount you add to your strength to roll "at or under."  So Grung has to roll a 26 OR LESS on a d20 to succeed.  A 20 is always critical failure; a 1 is always critical success on an ability check roll.

Cynth pushes hard but his strength is sapped.  (Critical miss, roll 20.)

Grung then slams his hand down in triumph.  (Critical success for Grung.)

Cynth nods approvingly.  "Never thought I'd be beaten by an orc breed, but no shame in it.  Orcs are just so forging strong."

Polyanthar says, "Impressive.  Two out of two bouts.  Now it is up to you and me, Naj, to see who can best the other at darts."  One of his minions fetches him six darts.  He offers three to Naj, unless Naj wants to use his own.

Re: The Traitor - Polyanthar (Grizz, Grung, Naj)

Knowing he is currently in a dwarven stronghold and that he will not be liked by nearly all it's denizens, Grung is gracious after beating Cynth and does not gloat.  "Well done sir.  It was just my day." he responds before adding "But I think it could be my human side that really helped me."

Polyanthar steps up.  "Well, let's see what I've got."  He throws three darts.  Two hit their mark, and one goes astray.

(Polyanthar made his shots by +1, +2, and -5 = Total of -2.)

He looks to Naj.  "Well, elf, let's see if you can do better than that."

Re: The Traitor - Polyanthar (Grizz, Grung, Naj)

Naj misses his first throw by a long shot.  His second shot is nearly a bullseye, and his third is not far from that one.

(Made rolls by -9, +4, and +3 = total of -2.)

Polyanthar laughs.  "Looks like we scored the same.  We'll have to throw three more for a tiebreaker, eh?"

He nodded. "I guess we will." He couldn't believe he'd missed so badly the first time, he questioned that for a moment, but decided to put that beside him, not point in making himself more nervous than he needed to be.

Looks like I'm roughly the same. He was not impressed by the shot that was far off target, he expected more from himself.

Polyanthar's throws are not as good.  He shakes his head with a grin.

Turning to you, he says, "We had a deal."  He hands you the ruby brooch.  "I suppose Pamaran will be glad to have this back.  He is a sore loser.  I will meet you at the promenade with my crew tomorrow for the battle.  Our strength will be joined.  I'd rather fight alongside the likes of you than Krugoth's men at any rate."

Grung nods in Polyanthar's direction and is glad he and his warriors will be joining in the fight tomorrow.

Seems nice enuf.  Hopefully dis will lay to rest any questions of his loyalties.  Grung ponders to himself.

He nodded, a slight smile coming to his face when he received the scarab. " Tomorrow, then." As if a farewell. He wasn't entirely convinced that Polyanthar was on their side yet, but he always felt wary in these days.

Your party thanks Polyanthar and returns to Pamaran.  The others have not yet arrived.

Pamaran sees you enter.  "Did you get the scarab brooch?  Is Polyanthar in league with Tarimar as I suspected?"

He nodded in agreement that Polyanthar was proud of his tattoos. "He did seem proud of them.. but he had a lot of them, I didn't get the best look. I may have just missed it if it was there.. I'm still not 100% positive he's not the traitor. He could plainly backstab us tomorrow." He shrugged.

Pamaran shrugs.  "Well, like I said, the tattoo just shows if he joined Tarimar.  Anyone who's greedy could sell secrets to Tarimar even without the tattoo."

Pamaran excuses himself.  "I'll be back in awhile after I talk to Krugoth," he says.

OOC: Here, it is time to reunite the party.
