Kuvla Tah and The Five Pillars

Adaran, Arthure, Borimer, Nimith, Kahan, and Flint return to Krugoth's guest hall.  Grizz, Grung and Naj are already seated.  Apparently, Pamaran recently excused himself but said he would be back.

You are all alone for the moment, but servant dwarves bring in a feast and inform you that Krugoth and his counselors will join the feast just after sunset.

Also, I am making public the previously private threads, expecting that you will each share with each other the content, but feel free to give a brief explanation/recap for those who do not go through and read those threads.

Re: Kuvla Tah and The Five Pillars

As they wait, Grizz says to Naj and Grung, "I'd say we did a pretty good job of showing up some of the best dwarves around. What do you think?  Grung's got muscle, I've got the javelin, and Naj here's got the knack for dart throwing.  We made a good team."  He sips some ale and recounts stories to them of his fishing adventures and catching whales off the Western Coast.

Re: Kuvla Tah and The Five Pillars

He was interested to hear about the whaling, but for the most part he kept to himself. He wasn't fond of the inconsistency with his dart throwing, and had hoped his aim would be a bit better in general. But he won, and that was whats important.

Re: Kuvla Tah and The Five Pillars

Grizz says, "But whaling wasn't nothing compared to that Aboleth thing we killed or the turtle dragon.  I jumped on that turtle dragon and went to it.  I ended up on the far side of the cavern from Borimer and the others.  Whew, that was something!  Tarimar sure knows how to summon some nasty creatures.  And then we killed his black dragon and he was so mad he made his cleric resurrect the thing and we had to defeat it twice!  I'm sure he's right well peeved at us by now.  That was like his pet, to hear him talk of it.  It's just too bad Draaz and Marcus got swallowed by that purple worm.  If only they could be here now."

For the first time, Grizz's ebullient attitude drops as he seems to grieve over his two lost friends, and he washes the grief down with more ale.

Re: Kuvla Tah and The Five Pillars

It seems like a long time has passed, and the sun is starting to set, when finally Adaran, Arthure, Borimer, Flint, Kahan, and Nimith arrive.

Food is being set at the table aplenty, but the servants are not intrusive and leave the room as soon as you are served to give you privacy.

Borimer claps Grizz on the back and takes a seat. He grabs a tankard and fills it with dwarven...whatever, and enjoys a well-earned drink. Or three.

Re: Kuvla Tah and The Five Pillars

Grizz laughs.  "You'll have to have a few more than that to catch up to me," he says to Borimer.  "We saw Polyanthar, and we each engaged in a match with one of his best men.  We managed to win the bets, all of us.  I threw javelins, Grung did some arm wrestling, and Naj bested Polyanthar himself in dart throwing.  As reward, we got this."  He shows everyone the brooch.  "Polyanthar proved to be a man -- or dwarf -- of his word, so we won the brooch fair and square.  He will also be joining us with some of his men for the fight tomorrow.  That'll add to the strength in our numbers.  How'd you fare?"

At the mention of arm wrestling, Grung lifts an arm and flexes a bicep.  "Cynth didn't know what he was dealing wid." he says before adding "All in all though doen see what's so special about dat bauble and why the dwarves like it so.  To each dere own I guess."

Taking a seat next to Kahan, Adaran leans toward the priest and says something quietly to him.

Re: Kuvla Tah and The Five Pillars

As you sit around eating, Krugoth enters.  He is clothed in his flowery robes that demonstrate his wealth and status, indicating as always his focus on the finer things in life.

Behind him, Pamaran hobbles in with his cane, still with bandages.

Krugoth says, "I have been talking to Pamaran, and he told me what you've been up to.  So, I have to ask, have you found this traitor?  If so, I shall have him executed before daybreak.  I give you my word on that."

He looks around at you each in turn, awaiting an answer.

Borimer speaks to Grizz and Grung of his escapades, until Krugoth arrives. The warrior waits for his more capable comrades to speak with the dwarf chief.

At Krugoth's inquiry, Adaran looks to Grizz, Grung and Naj expectantly, as if waiting to hear of their findings.

Re: Kuvla Tah and The Five Pillars

Grung has been decidedly reserved upon entering the dwarven keep.  Being a half orc he assumed he'd be seen as the enemy by most if not all the dwarves he might encounter.  However has found that has not been the case and so beholden by this, and Adaran's unspoken urging, he decides to answer Krugoth's question.  Clearing his throat and looking around for any reassurance that it's okay for him to speak, he says "It be my belief Polyanthar is not a traitor.  Like's to gamble a bit too much which may lead to his downfall, but he is a man of his word.  And he is too smart to fall prey to one of Tarimar's traps.  He told us he would join us on the fields tomorrow and I trust dat he will.  I will fight gladly by his side."

Re: Kuvla Tah and The Five Pillars

After Grung gives his summation of what he and the others found out about Polyanthar, Kahan adds, "Nimith cannot be the traitor; he assured us that he has barely any recollection of what happened before he got here. Tarimar might have had someone cast a spell on him, but he is over it's effects now.

"Anlisade is innocent as well. He simply fears for his sons' lives, which is understandable, seeing how war is looming ever closer. My party members had a... misunderstanding with two of them, and I raised one as he wished, then gave him my word the other will be raised on the morrow.

"Also, in a not at all related request, might I ask to have a look at Pamaran's wounds? I do not doubt the skill of your healers, but perhaps I might be able to use some foreign herbs and healing skills from other regions to help him recover. I fully understand his wishes not to have magic used upon him, and I shall not if he doesn't wish so, but I might be able to help get your veteran commander in better condition for the battle tomorrow."

As Kahan offers to tend to Pamaran's wounds, Adaran observes the dwarven Captain's reaction intently.
