Re: The Orc Battle - Wave 2

"We need to burn the trolls with fire before they get up!" Kahan yells to everyone so they all know to do so as he pulls out a torch and lights it with a flint and steel, jogging around the skeletons and moving towards the dead trolls. If they have any ranged weapons, Kahan commands the clerics to shoot at the remaining derro, continuing to have his skeletons attack them as well.

Re: The Orc Battle - Wave 2

[I'm going to move this along without a map for now.  There's not much actual movement anyway.]
ROUND 4

The attack focuses on the trolls.

Kahan moves to T7.  He has his own dog and now a dire wolf under his control.  (He can attack the derro next round.)

The trolls attack, taking down the three remaining men who were at the southern cannon.  One of Polyanthar's men also falls in the attack.

Polyanthar's men and the cannon soldiers also fight back, as well as Anlisade's men firing their bows.  Grung's group gets a decisive hit on the trolls.  (Critical hit.)  The trolls fall in the melee.

The dire wolves are left in the entanglement.  Adaran and his men wiggle out to the north side of the entanglement spell (L6).

The derro attack the skeletons.  3 skeletons fall.  (3 remaining.)

Kahan's archers attack the derro.  One of the derro falls.  Borimer attacks the derro.  He manages to take down one more derro with his multiple attacks.

Flint and his men get out of the entanglement to the northwest square (J7).

Naj approaches to the edge of the entanglement (J8), able to attack next round.

You are now left with 1 derro, the kobolds and the dire wolves (the latter two still stuck in entanglement).

OOC: There were a couple of groups I missed, like the skeletons and Adaran's archers.  They were misses.  I tend to jump straight to the hits and calculate damage, so sometimes I forget to post the misses in the actual post, especially when I'm in a hurry.

Re: The Orc Battle - Wave 2

Seeing himself and his men become visible once they get free of the entangling grasses, and hearing Flint's voice calling out orders a short distance away, Adaran says, "Rogues, fire at those wolves! Anlisade, have your men do the same - take them down before they get free! Flint, regroup with us and grab hold of me!" As he issues commands, he draws his short bow and nocks an arrow, taking aim at one of the dire wolves caught in the entangling weeds.

ROUND 5

The wolves and last derro go down easily in the final round, the derro falling under Borimer's sword.  No one further is lost on your side.

ROUND 6

(Free action, no enemies presently in view except the circling pterodactyl creatures, which are now only about 3 rounds from coming within the battle area -- post your moves.)

Borimer calls his men and regroups back at the cave. He checks weapons and armor of each.

"You did well."

[borimer and 6 of his men to O3; 3 will remain to man the light cannon]

In reply to Heath (msg #49):

I believe the numbers in the post above are accurate except that one of Polyanthar's men have died and 3 skeletons have fallen.  Adaran or anyone else can feel free to double check my math if they want.

So it depends on which of the groups on the map you are controlling how many "men" you have left.  Since numbers are thinning, if you want to have them combine with you under one token, just let me know how many are with you and/or how many you are stationing somewhere else (and where they will be).

Grung has Polyanthar and 8 of his men. this makes 10 including him.  he takes his men back to the heavy cannon at #16 and waits just south of it.

"we leave this cannon now,"he says after seeing the light cannon's men were killed.  "go protect bigun," and he points to the #16 cannon.

Re: The Orc Battle - Wave 2

Turning to the scout who he'd previously forgotten about in all the confusion of battle, Kahan calls out to Anlisade and his men to follow him as he heads towards the west, canine companions in toe. He instructs the scout to tell Borimer what he told him, then tells his skeletons to man the cannon (or, if they can't actually man/fire it, then simply to guard it).

Re: The Orc Battle - Wave 2

As the last of the dire wolves is slain, Adaran says, "Rogues, get back to the cave and conceal yourselves. Flint, follow me."

Sprinting back toward the cave, he calls out to his and Flint's archers, "Archers, three of you man that cannon, the rest join up with Borimer's men and follow his orders!" Seeing one of his scouts nearby, he jogs toward him and says quickly, "What's the status?"

Flint not one to offer much of a argument as things seem to be happening at a rather accelerated pace for him.  He nodded his head in confirmation to the orders that Adaran was giving out.  "I'm guessing that more will be on the way shortly."

Flint looks around to determine what the next course of action might be.  Standing out in the open would not be his first choice.  "So what you got in mind, Adaran?"

ROUND 6
As you are gathering your men and clearing up after the battle, the kobolds are still stuck in the entanglement and might be there for a few rounds.

But you also hear sounds of conflict to the west.  Something is going on near Arthure and Grizz.

The clouds are parting, and the sun sets its rays on the bloody and wet battlefield.

Re: The Orc Battle - Wave 2

The scout reports to Adaran that troops are advancing and an assault will begin in the west area shortly.  He could not tell the size or makeup of the attacking troops from his height, but they are hugging the walls and shadows.  There are orcs and other creatures, some of them large and kept under tarps with their heads covered by burlap sacks.

Nodding quickly, Adaran tells the scout, "Warn Grung and Naj, tell them we'll need their troops to reinforce Grizz's and Arthure's defenses - and tell that catapult to aim north at those inlets and prepare to fire on our signal!" As his scout runs off, he dashes into the cave. "Borimer! We need your men to help Grizz and Arthure, there's an assault coming from the northwest!"

As he runs, Adaran calls out to where he thinks Flint is, only able to gauge the invisible mage's whereabouts by the sounds of his voice and footsteps. "Flint! Stay with me and keep us hidden under your spell, we might be targeted as soon as we get in range! Rogues, stick close and form a circle around me!"

Re: The Orc Battle - Wave 2

ROUND 7
On the western side, you hear and see a powerful sight.  The solar destroyer goes off firing straight down the right side valley point.  By the time you round the corner and look, you see that it has done tremendous damage, not only to the enemy, but to the wall that is collapsing.

In moments, the entire area crumbles, blocking it off from the enemy.  Score one for Anlisade and his sons.

However, on the other two gorges, you see the traps have taken out several orcs but something else has gotten through.  It is a deep brown, dragon-like monster that moves with relative quickness on six legs. It has wings to fly and is about 15 feet long.  It has blinders on similar to a horse, and an orc was sitting upon it.  However, Arthure or Grizz must have taken the orc out because there is a saddle now that is empty.

The sight that shocks you, however, is seeing Arthure standing looking down at the creature.  Arthure is no longer flesh.  He is completely stone standing about 15 feet away from the creature.

Besides the creature, you cannot see exactly what is on the far western gorge, but there are four creatures next to the dragon-like creature that are not dead yet.

Two of them are 9 to 10 feet tall and weigh 300 to 350 pounds. Their skin colors are a dead yellow and a dull black-brown. Warty bumps cover their hides. Their eyes are purple with white pupils. Teeth and talons are orange or black. They have long, greasy hair of blackish-blue to dull dark green. Dressing in poorly cured furs and animal hides, they carry large spiked clubs and appear animalistic.

The other two appear similar but are apparently of some sort of magic user class of training and a slightly different breed.  The hair is green with blue streaks and darker in shade, perhaps dyed. They have black painted nails and dark eyes with white pupils and have teeth and tusks that are very white. They are slightly taller than the others and wear armor.  They carry large swords and appear more intelligent than their nearby cousins.

They point when they see you, and the two with clubs swat the dragon-like creature on its rump to get it moving toward you.

Now invisible with Flint and the rogues, Adaran calls south, "Fire the catapult!" Then he shouts up at Arthure's cannon crew who are positioned on the elevated wall of the middle inlet, "Push over the boulder! Now!"

One of those cannons has already fired (Arthure's) and is currently reloading.  I guess I should have told you that heard the "boom" as you were running over.
