Re: Orc Battle - Wave 3

Borimer leads his two squads of men west to meet the charge of the enemy and their strange beast.

"Fire at the horned creature! Wizards help them, and priests...just keep us alive so we can keep on killin'..."

Re: Orc Battle - Wave 3

"Don't look the beast in the eyes, whatever you do! You'll be petrified like Arthure." Kahan called out so that hopefully everyone could hear. Averting his gaze, he commands his wolf to go around the enemies from the west inlet to flank around them, while telling Anlisade and his sons to fire arrows at one of the well-dressed ogres carrying large swords. Meanwhile, he starts casting a spell.

Re: Orc Battle - Wave 3

Adaran Swiftshadow:
Now invisible with Flint and the rogues, Adaran calls south, "Fire the catapult!" Then he shouts up at Arthure's cannon crew who are positioned on the elevated wall of the middle inlet, "Push over the boulder! Now!"

"Anlisade!" shouts Adaran's voice, "That sun-ray's no use where it's at anymore, we need it here!"

(OOC: Adaran's group (which consists of Adaran, Flint, 11 rogues and 1 mage) to L13. They're all invisible at the moment. The other 4 rogues (scouts on earthrocs) are currently spread out, acting as messengers to forward communications back and forth between remote units, such as those guarding the east gorge.

The light catapult is being ordered to fire a flaming projectile at the dracolisk, and Arthure's cannon crew is being ordered to push the booby-trapped boulder over the edge onto the ogres. Adaran is telling Anlisade to have his men reposition the sun-ray to defend the middle inlet, since the northeast inlet that the sun-ray was defending is now blocked off.)

Re: Orc Battle - Wave 3

The next move will be Round 1 of Wave 3.  Please note the following:

1) You may place yourself and your troops at any place east of the diagonal black line.  Please indicate to me in your post who is where.

2) On Round 3 of Wave 3, all of the ballista devices may fire again except the one the trolls attacked.  (I am accelerating the reloading time to allow for additional shots.)  You may turn a ballista up to 90 degrees (1/4 rotation per round while reloading).  The same goes for the sun blaster.

3) Keep in mind your limited movement rates.  You can move up to six squares, and up to 3 if you want to attack too.  (This simplifies the previous rule, which everyone has probably forgotten by now.)

4) The new enemy can travel up to 10 squares, 5 if they attack.

Here is a reposting of the current move you are responding to:
quote:
On the western side, you hear and see a powerful sight.  The solar destroyer goes off firing straight down the right side valley point.  By the time you round the corner and look, you see that it has done tremendous damage, not only to the enemy, but to the wall that is collapsing.

In moments, the entire area crumbles, blocking it off from the enemy.  Score one for Anlisade and his sons.

However, on the other two gorges, you see the traps have taken out several orcs but something else has gotten through.  It is a deep brown, dragon-like monster that moves with relative quickness on six legs. It has wings to fly and is about 15 feet long.  It has blinders on similar to a horse, and an orc was sitting upon it.  However, Arthure or Grizz must have taken the orc out because there is a saddle now that is empty.

The sight that shocks you, however, is seeing Arthure standing looking down at the creature.  Arthure is no longer flesh.  He is completely stone standing about 15 feet away from the creature.

Besides the creature, you cannot see exactly what is on the far western gorge, but there are four creatures next to the dragon-like creature that are not dead yet.

Two of them are 9 to 10 feet tall and weigh 300 to 350 pounds. Their skin colors are a dead yellow and a dull black-brown. Warty bumps cover their hides. Their eyes are purple with white pupils. Teeth and talons are orange or black. They have long, greasy hair of blackish-blue to dull dark green. Dressing in poorly cured furs and animal hides, they carry large spiked clubs and appear animalistic.

The other two appear similar but are apparently of some sort of magic user class of training and a slightly different breed.  The hair is green with blue streaks and darker in shade, perhaps dyed. They have black painted nails and dark eyes with white pupils and have teeth and tusks that are very white. They are slightly taller than the others and wear armor.  They carry large swords and appear more intelligent than their nearby cousins.

They point when they see you, and the two with clubs swat the dragon-like creature on its rump to get it moving toward you.

Kahan turned to Anlisade and nodded. "After we have dispatched these foes, you and your sons should get to work moving the Sun Ray to the center inlet, but for now, it stays where it is. We don't want it getting destroyed."

"Rogues," says Adaran, "take position ahead of Borimer's left flank! When those ogres close in on his men, we'll attack them from behind!" The rushing of many feet can be heard as Adaran's invisible group advances past Borimer's men and positions themselves behind the inlet's left wall, lying in wait for the approaching ogres.

Re: Orc Battle - Wave 3

Round 2
Borimer and his group are going to L12 and M12, with Grung's group at N12.  Grung holds back his men at hearing that Adaran is firing catapults in his direction.

Adaran's group is moving to M11.

The dire wolf under Kahan's command goes around toward the western gorge.

The ogre creatures and their foul dragon-like beast press south toward the line where Borimer and Grung hold strong.

The catapult fires...

It is a direct hit on the beast, which rears back in pain.  (Unable to attack this round.)  It was a flaming projectile, causing additional damage to the creature.  Flaming pieces fly off the creature and bounce off the walls of the gorge as it howls in fury.

The ogres are moving around the dracolisk on the west to confront Borimer's men.  The ogre magi remain where they are at behind the dracolisk and begin casting.  A wall of darkness completely takes them out of your vision as it passes between the dracolisk and them.

Just before they disappear behind the blackness, you see a swarm of insects rising up around the leftmost one just as Kahan finishes a spell.  (summon insects)

Borimer's wizards fire magic missiles at the dracolisk, and his archers fire arrows at it.

Anlisade's sons start repositioning the sun deathray, but then they hear Kahan's orders and turn to the battle at hand.

There is an ogre coming through on the left side.  Borimer and his remaining men attack it.  Adaran's rogues appear from behind, backstabbing the unsuspecting ogre.  This mass attack takes the ogre by surprise, and it falls to its knees with an ugly squeal as Borimer finishes it off.

The second ogre comes up to attack as well.  He swings at Borimer's men, taking out two of them.  (18 remaining)

Grung's forces attack, slaughtering the ogre where he stands in moments.  Polyanthar smiles with glee at the success of his men.  "Bloody nice," he says glibly.

The dracolisk is now angry and ready to turn its full fury upon you.

To your left (west), the dire wolf growls, stopping at the corner of the gorge, its hackles raised.  You don't yet know what is coming through there.

OOC: I didn't get a post about Flint or Naj's men, so they can post where they want to move.  I will assume Flint and his mages are saving their spells, and his warriors are still on the cannon.  Likewise, I will assume Naj's men are all manning the trebuchet.

I also assume the remaining earthrocs are still in the cave area, tied up and unattended.

Borimer launches himself at the dracolisk with an animal growl rising from deep within his throat, slashing at its belly with two hard blows.  He orders group two to attack the spellcasting ogre, with group one attacking the dracolisk.

"Well done!" says Adaran as his rogues slay the ogre with the help of Borimer's men. "Form up and get back under Flint's spell!" Hearing the dire wolf's growl and seeing one of his earthroc-mounted scouts surveying the west inlet, he shouts, "Scout, what's coming from the west?"

Hoping the remainder of the men could deal with the dracolisk and ogre magi, Kahan runs to the western inlet to have himself a look of what was coming down it. Depending on what he sees, he might have an action to take...

"Uh, guys? We've got a quite a few orcs and skeletons approaching this way. Anlisade! How quickly can you fire that sun ray again?" he yells back, ushering his troops to where he was, letting Grung's and Borimer's men deal with the dragon thing and the ogres. "Fire at the orcs!" he commands, casting a spell as he yells.

The sun ray is positioned at O12, so when repositioned it will point directly west to A12.  They can fire in two more rounds.

Hearing Kahan, Adaran quickly shouts at the nearby earthroc-mounted scout, "Scout, take flight and tell us what you see behind that darkness!" Then he vanishes back under Flint's invisibility spell with his men, grabbing hold of the mage's hand, and says, "Rogues, take position at the edge of the west inlet and prepare to ambush the orcs from behind when they close in on Anlisade's men!"
