Interlude

Feel free to post anything occurring next after your escape from the orcs, demons, Tarimar, and Krugoth.  I will work on the XP dole outs soon.

You will need to determine where to go next.  With the earthrocs, you can reach Ailamere very quickly.  However, remember that Grung now has Augmantium.

Oops...But Ailamere also thought Augmantium was a real dragon she could mate with.  Without the actual artifact, who knows if she will believe you if you tell her otherwise, or if something else awaits you.

Azaron told you to speak with Syrissa and tell her Azaron sent you.  Then you should do what she says.

Common Knowledge:  Syrissa is an avid art collector well known throughout the land.  She lives in an ornate chateau with a tall stone wall surrounding it.  The chateau is located on a hill a ways south of Faulbane.  She is known for being hideously ugly--with scars or some other deformity always concealed under a veil.  Many surmise that this is why she craves beautiful art--statues, paintings, rugs, etc.  It compensates for her own feelings of ugliness.

Re: Interlude

You are flying away from the battle, not sure of where you are going.

OOC: Or, at least, I'm not sure where you are going.  Syrissa or Ailamere?  Hint: You will find something interesting at Ailamere's location, even without Augmantium.

Grizz can barely hear him from atop the earthroc as he holds on for dear life, but he responds to Borimer across the wind, "That sounds fine with me.  I was meant for sailing, not flying."

Re: Interlude

"What are we going to tell Ailamere? 'Oh, sorry, we had Augmantium, but gave him away. And he's not really a dragon, it's more of a statue.'? I'm sure that will go over well with the powerful dragon who wants to destroy the world." Kahan yells across to Borimer, not angry but simply so he can be heard. "I say we deal with Syrissa first, then see if we can meet back up with Grung to get Augmantium back."

Borimer considers the priest's words while shifting his weight to keep his balance on the back of the earthroc.

"I agree, we should get Augmantium back-"

Borimer grins.

"-and find out what King Grung plans on doing with his new kingdom..."

"We can at least tell Ailamere what's happened, and let her know we still intend to honor our bargain." Adaran shouts across to the others. "It's not our fault she was wrong about Augmantium. And if the whole point is just for her to return to Allevia, maybe we can find another way to get her there."

Re: Interlude

Your group turns southwest to head to Ailamere's lair.  You remember the area, and how Ailamere had scoured it with her strange dry-freezing like breath.  You remember what a strange dragon she was.  (For those who don't recall, she was a prismatic dragon.  She was located near the lake under the "THE", and you had to swim under the water to get inside her cave.)

Many hours travel later--but not days, as the journey on foot would take--you approach the cliffside and lake where Ailamere made her lair.

Made her lair.

Made...

It is no longer there.  In its place is a giant round crater that has almost completely eliminated the lake and mountain, at least 500 feet in diameter.  The crumbling remains and muddy ground is the only testament to the fact that Ailamere was once there.  But no longer.

You can only surmise that it had something to do with Augmantium unleashing its anti-magic aura.

You also remember the strange monument you found buried in Ailamere's lair when you rescued Adaran, in a position that would have been about the center of the spherical crater.

You realize your need to appease Ailamere is no more.  She is gone, and so is her quest.

OOC: Some of you had other side quests that could be completed now.  Completing them, or not, affects experience points and is based on roleplaying your characters.  As a motivation, the sidequest XP will be fairly significant because it has been roleplayed fairly well throughout the adventures.  Feel free to include other players in the side quests (to take sides, if you will).  I think you know what I'm talking about if this pertains to you.

Re: Interlude

"So much for our reward." Adaran comments with mild annoyance as their flock of earthrocs glide over the barren crater wherein the dragon's lair once resided. Those who have traveled with Adaran for some time may notice his disappointment is far less bitterly expressed than on previous occasions when he's been cheated out of an agreed payment. "Let's go see Syrissa and find out what we need to do to save our skins."

Re: Interlude

Here is a rough map.  It is from a map I made well over a decade ago, so don't hold me to it exactly, but I wanted you to have some sense of the location of places as they relate to other places you've visited.

"Faulbane's on the way there anyhow." replies Adaran. "We can stop there to resupply and then continue on to Syrissa." With that, he tugs on his earthroc's reins, arcing up and around in flight, and speeds toward the southeast.

"I wonder why this happened... Slightly amusing that this is probably linked to Augmantium, the thing Ailamere wanted more than anything, it seemed." he chuckles as he hops back on his earthroc and follows after Adaran.

Re: Interlude

Here is XP for the last adventure.  You will next be going first to Faulbane for a brief stop and then to Syrissa's.

Please note that these XPs do not include any XP bonus you may be entitled to.  (Ask if you don't know.)

These amounts have not been put on your character sheets, so please adjust your character sheet totals to reflect this increase.  If you level, please handle the leveling and ask if you have questions.  You don't have to level immediately, but obviously you will want to do so before your character can use any benefits of leveling.

These are in private lines because different amounts are given to different people depending on performance of things like roleplaying, creative thinking, participation, etc.

You lost one companion during the battle:  Arthure Glade (whose player formerly played Marcus for awhile).  His player indicates he will probably not have time to return to the game.
