Stopping in Faulbane

You "park" your earthrocs just north of Faulbane in a safe location to avoid being too conspicuous.

The news of the king's death and the battle has not yet reached Faulbane, and you realize it will probably be wise to leave Faulbane before the chaos breaks out...and also before the demons catch up to you.

You are at a cave on the edge of Leslorlen forest, an hour's hike northwest of Faulbane.  This places the Crusader's Inn just south of you on the far side of Oakbridge (where you solved the murders and found the "pet" dinosaurs...or at least, Borimer and Grizz did).

OOC: For the new players, when Faulbane was occupied by the orcs, a few areas were cordoned off for the humans and other demihumans to have as their own, Oakbridge being one area, and the area with the Crusader's Inn being another.  The orcs don't usually bother them there, whereas the other humans and demihumans throughout the city are more subject to search and harassment.  Those places are the "safe havens," you might say.

As you walk into the township, you notice that there are even more poles leading down the road into the city, and on these poles are more corpses of rotting humans, dwarves, and halflings.  It seems that things have not gotten any better, and you still cannot get used to the smell, but it is home after all.

The orc sentries give you free passage into the city since you bear the king's medallions.

OOC: From here, where do you go, and what do you do?  Put in private lines if private.  Of course, you can go to the Inn first to get a room and check on Pearl (who was the girl saved by Borimer, Grizz and company in the "Rathyl's Treasure" adventure).  You probably have one complete day before you have to begin thinking about when the demons will arrive.

Re: Stopping in Faulbane

Kahan gets off of 'his' earthroc, and stretches his arms and legs, audible cracks being heard under his armor. "That's almost as bad as riding a horse all day." he groans, the weariness of battle combined with riding for hours taking a toll on his body. He pulls out a length of rope and ties his mount to a nearby tree, looking at the others. "What do you suppose these things eat? We'll need to feed them if we hope to keep them for long." he muses aloud, pulling out one of his older rations and offering it to the creature.

Re: Stopping in Faulbane

Borimer slides uncomfortably to the ground with a groan.  He rubs his back and looks up at the earthroc convinced it had been happy to torture him.

"I have no idea what they eat, but it gets to feed on rations this day."

Borimer silently takes pleasure in feeding the beast the same stale bread and leather-like jerky he had lived on for so long himself.  After seeing to the earthroc's hunger Borimer leaves to find a hot meal in the city.

"They're giant eagles." says Adaran atop his earthroc as the flock rests their wings. "No doubt they hunt live prey. Naj, any ideas?"

Naj says, "These are more lizard than bird.  If we are only gone for one day, they may not need much more than water anyway, or they may forage off the land if given a long enough tether."

Re: Stopping in Faulbane

Adaran ponders the cave and surrounding woods for a moment before looking back to the elven ranger. "I'm leery of leaving them out here unattended. Think you can look after them while we're gone? We can bring back any supplies you need from the city."

Naj nods.  "I'd enjoy the relaxing air out here anyway.  The Leslorlen forests were originally the homelands of the elves."

Re: Stopping in Faulbane

Nodding to the elf, Adaran dismounts his earthroc, produces the Portable Hole, and spreads it over the ground. He retrieves two fifty-foot coils of rope from Marcus' and Draaz's belongings, then re-folds the Portable Hole and stashes it back in his cloak. After helping to secure the six earthrocs with the ropes, he looks to Naj and says, "We'll be back in a day from tomorrow morning. Stay on your guard - Tarimar's spies could be anywhere." Then, with a wave to the elf, he makes his way to Faulbane with the others.

OOC: As noted in my first post, you are now in the city proper.  Where will you be going next?  The Crusader's Inn is one option if you can't think of any others, but the choice is yours.

Re: Stopping in Faulbane

Once they've made it past the orc checkpoint, Adaran says quietly to his companions, "We should try to find a buyer for our treasure. I have some connections. There's one item Dornhoth and I promised to Silverpalm in exchange for that coin that got us into the library archives. The silver scepter - the non-magical one. He'd likely pay well for the rest of the items we acquired as well."

"I, too, have commitments for that scepter.  Perhaps we should go to the Crusader's Inn and get a room, some food and drink would be nice too."

Grizz says, "I have spent many a day in that Inn drinking and gorging.  Supper sounds better than sceptre right now."

Nodding in agreement, Adaran heads to the Crusader's Inn with the others. "We should arrange for Marcus' and Draaz's burial." he says grimly as the five of them walk together.

Re: Stopping in Faulbane

"I can probably arrange that at the church." Kahan states with a nod, as he walks with the others into the inn he's rarely ever been in before. "Other than that, I have no real appointments in the city. Is there anything you all want done that you would otherwise have to postpone due to time constrictions?" he asks curiously.
