Harkahnon Ruins 2 - Crossroads Ark

Lumen and the warrior lead you east through a door and into an octagon shaped room (#16).

A massive table sits in the center of this octagonal room. A staircase rises up through the eastern wall, doubling back to the railed balcony that circles the tall room overhead. A glowing green globe suspended from the ceiling dimly lights
the room. There are also double doors leading north and south.

Most prominently, a massive crystal globe nearly 5 feet in diameter is set into the center of a table. The large globe is supported by a wooden oak ring atop six strong claw-footed legs. An ornate, golden ring covered in ancient symbols holds the globe in place. On the north side of the table, three metal wheels are mounted below three sets of numbered drums. To the left of these, three red crystals rest in their mounting holes, glowing brightly. To the right of the wheels and drums are three more mountings with green gems in them, glowing brightly.

"This is what we call the Crossroads Ark," Lumen says.  "If you touch the center globe, you will be transported...somewhere.  Where exactly is based on the nine numbers programmed in.  We have not changed it since Chrisman went through.  Look closely and you may recognize the numbers."

You look more closely at the numbers, realizing that the dials beneath them can change the numbers.

"This was the code programmed in when we arrived," Lumen says.  "We are concerned that if we change the code without knowing the right numbers, we may teleport somewhere...unpleasant.  Perhaps even into the center of the earth.  Yet still, Chrisman has not returned in all these days."

Re: Harkahnon Ruins 2 - Crossroads Ark

Flint walked up to the device, "Does the device not allow you to scry the location that you are about to go to.  I know that most portals work that way.  Perhaps if we had a crystal ball handy we could scry an object to see where it went." He slowly circled it studying the dials and buttons.

He reached into his pocket and pulled out a silver coin, "Lets try a little test, shall we".  He tossed the silver coin at the globe.

The coin glimmers for an instant and then disappears.

Syrissa says, "If this number was programmed in when you got here, that means Esylia must have programmed it.  That's why we see no trace of her passing.  She has gone through.  She must have known these numbers, and they match the numbers from Ashe."

Syrissa runs forward and presses her hand, along with Edmure's, onto the globe.  She instantly glimmers and then disappears, just like the coin.  Edmure follows.

Naj looks into the sphere to see if he sees anything like a crystal ball or a distant location.  "I usually do not trust sorcery," he states.  "Then again, the end of the world is not too attractive either.  Do you think this takes us to Allevia?"

A grin stretches over Borimer's face.

"I think there's one way to find out..."

He strides forward and touches the globe.

Shrugging, Kahan turns to Lumen. "We may have to leave the king here, as much as it pains me to say it." he states, walking forward and, with a deep breath, touching the globe.

Flint looked at the globe looking to see if he could see where the others had gone.  He looked about the chamber once more.

Re: Harkahnon Ruins 2 - Crossroads Ark

Flint looks around but doesn't see the others.

As for those who touched the globe, you find yourself...standing right where you were, in the room with the globe.  It doesn't have the same tingling glow that it had, and the companions behind you are only the companions who touched the globe.  Everyone else is missing.

You notice that two of the green gems on the Ark are missing.  Otherwise, the room itself looks the same.

OOC: Keep in mind that those who touched the globe can no longer communicate with those who didn't.
