"Then what might the blue and red colors mean?"

Borimer looks again at the strange diagram and then shakes his head.

"The people are falling and there are two arrows pointing down."

Flint says, "What colors?  They have white dots.  Yet the floors do have colored bands for each level.  That's on the hole in the floor."

Flint:
What colors?

Borimer looks into the bowls again to check something and then grins.

Dungeon Mister:
In the left bowl is a pebble that is black with one white dot.  In the right bowl is a red pebble with three white dots.

"My memory these days, haven't slept in a while...it's a black pebble, not a blue one.  And with the red pebble we have two colors.  I'm not much of a riddle solver, but I still couldn't help but wonder if it matters that the pebbles are black and red."

Harak is watching the door, ready to kick a grenade back through it if it opens.

"Can we solve this later when we know there isn't an insane monster running around turning people to stone and throwing grenades?"

Flint says to Borimer, "My guess is the red and black refer to the rings around the hole in the floor."  Then to Harak:  "So we're going through the west door, right?"

"Yes, this can wait." Kahan agrees, heading to the western door and opening it up, expecting another room like the one below it.

Re: Harkhanon Ruins 6 - The Gorgon

You open the door and move west (into Room 32b).  This one is identical to the room in 32d except that it points south.

There are two differences to this room:

1) There is a trough-like wooden ramp to the south of the west and east doors.  (You are at east door.)  It has about a five inch bed and is angled down so that it drops right where the door opens.  There is a long piece of twine leading from the inside handle of the door to a small piece of wood -- let's call it the "gate."  When the door is opened, the gate slides down and along the underside of the trough.  It is spring loaded, so the gate returns to normal position when the door is shut.  The ramp appears somewhat makeshift, and is not part of the original construction of the temple.

2) The room in 32d had the number 486267825798 on the transfinite repeater display (the 12 digit odomoter-like device).  The one in the original room on the previous day had the numbers:  742138703546.

This room has the numbers:  487167825798.  (I.e., it is the same as 32d except the "71" in the middle.)  As you are watching, the third and fourth numbers (71) are gradually going up (to 72, then 73, etc.).

Here is a repeat of the room description:

The north side of the wall has carved out of it an octagonal shaped indenture, from which a mechanism sticks out (parabolic dish).  The mechanism consists of a parabolic dish carved and smoothed out of the face of an octagonal block of granite, all mounted inside a framework with eight metal tracks. A large, screwlike device moves the granite block along these tracks. At the front of the tracks, eight rods hold a crystal in place in front of the granite dish. The crystal pulsates with light.

On the wall adjacent to the crystal focus device, you see another 12 digit display (transfinite repeater display).

I should also point out that you have not officially "met" Malissin yet.

Malissin informs you that a strange, lich-like creature was chasing him just before he crossed over the Time Ark.

You don't hear anything beyond the west door.

Re: Harkhanon Ruins 6 - The Gorgon

Kahan opens the door.  Too late, he sees that there is a similar string on the far side of the door as this one.  The door opens, and the gate on the short ramp opens.  This time, there is something propped up there that comes rolling down.  As it falls to the ground, you recognize a familiar grenade-like orb, as it falls between the door and Kahan...

Actions?
Kahan can try to catch it before it hits the ground (DEX check), or run.
The others can run, hide or whatever, but you only have a split second to react.

Also, where is everyone?  Is this a two man show?

Kahan props his shield up and hunkers down behind it, fully ready to take the brunt of the explosion, knowing he would never catch it and is too slow to bother running away.

Kahan ducks behind his shield as Borimer leaps forward.  The rest of the group runs out of the way.  Borimer jumps on the grenade-like orb as it hits the ground...

...and nothing happens.  Perhaps it is a dud.  Meanwhile, Borimer's body covers the roughly 6 inch diameter globe.

OOC: I thought it would be fun to throw in a dud.  Borimer just made it even more funny than I had imagined.

Stepping out from behind the granite parabolic dish, Flint mutters "Well THAT was exciting".  Moving closer to inspect the orb (without touching it) he comments "I wonder why it didn't go off?"  Suddenly, with a bit of an abashed look, he quickly looks at Borimer "Sorry, not that that would have been a GOOD thing..."

"I think the ball was set as a trap, actually." Kahan remarks, carefully picking up the ball as he realizes it isn't going to be exploding, especially after being squished by Borimer. He looks it over curiously, following after the others if they decide to continue forward.
