Re: Harkahnon Ruins 7 - The King
Flint comments to everyone "The problem is that I don't sense that the King was a Lich in the traditional definition. Somehow he was different and more powerful...I just don't know yet what that means with respect to his phylactery. For those who don't know, a lich's soul is mystically tied to its phylactery, so destroying its body will not kill it. Rather, its soul returns to the phylactery, and its body will be recreated by the power keeping it immortal. Thus the only way to permanently destroy a lich is to destroy the phylactery as well. A phylactery is itself usually of magical nature, meaning its destruction is generally not an easy task."
After some waving of hands over the crown and the scepter, Flint announces "Well, they are both magical in nature....but it will take some time to determine anything more." Turning to the group Flint adds "If we are going to rest, then we'd best do it somewhere safe...the process of identifying these two items will take time (more than 8 hours each)...which is ruined if interrupted."
