Re: Harkahnon Ruins 10 - Battle with Esylia

Unfortunately, one side effect of the fire, you notice, is that Esylia's head was scorched and burnt beyond recognition.  It is completely safe to look at her now.

You see that she had been holding a scimitar in one hand and a metallic, claw-like weapon in the other (OOC: like gauntlets with blades -- think Wolverine or Freddie Krueger).

She also had a large pouch strapped around her neck that she would have had easy access to its contents during battle.  It is leather and appears to be scorched and burnt but its contents were apparently unscathed.

EDIT:  OOC: I was going to wait for someone to search her or look at her and then say, "Without thinking, you look down at the medusa, forgetting that her looks turn a man to stone...but find that you are not turned to stone because her head and body have been scorched and burnt beyond recognition."  Something like that, but it doesn't fit with Kahan's post now.

Borimer lets out a breath and sheathes Chianta.  He turns to face Kahan's voice and grins.

"We did good. Think I can get some sight back now, friend?"

"Yes, of course. I simply wanted to make sure it was safe to return it before I wasted the spell and turned you to stone for my own stupidity. Also, sorry for scorching you. I should have said something about moving out of the way." the priest replies, casting the spell to restore Borimer's eyesight before using a healing spell on him. He then goes about perusing through Esylia's handbag for anything of interest.

"Ah, thanks.  I'm not going to do that again anytime soon...I hope."

Re: Harkahnon Ruins 10 - Battle with Esylia

Borimer is slightly healed by Kahan's spell.  (Cure Light Wounds: please adjust hit points per house rule.)

Kahan looks in Esylia's handbag.  He finds:

3 small vials of a bluish liquid like the one that turned Borimer back from stone to flesh
2 exploding orbs
and a partridge in a pear tree...
1 small case (like a jewelry box for a wedding ring) that is closed
1 key made of rusty old iron
1 green gemstone to fit the Time Ark device (of the two that are missing)

and some scraps of paper with codes scribbled on them, most of which are crossed out.  The only ones that are not crossed out read:

Present: 742138703546
Outer Planes: 528373567447
Land of the Dead: 486267825798
??: 195578436419
??: 743698224966
?? (strange island in middle of nowhere): 662789436221

Re: Harkahnon Ruins 10 - Battle with Esylia

Kahan takes one of the vials and pours it over Malissin's petrified body, taking the other two and putting them inside of his backpack. He then opens the jewelry box slowly and deliberately, looking inside curiously. "We should look around for the room she was keeping the old man in, preferably sooner rather than later."

Re: Harkahnon Ruins 10 - Battle with Esylia

Malissin turns back to flesh, shivering for a second as life pours back over his body.

Kahan opens the small jewelry box, which is covered in a black leather.  It snaps open as if on springs.  Its insides have mirrors on the bottom and underside of the lid.

Nested inside in a clasp is a white jewel that is growing brightly.  It is glowing so bright that it appears Esylia was using this as her light source.  (OOC: Think of it as a flashlight.)  The light-jewel acts the same as a bullseye lantern, directing a beam of light in one direction for up to 60 feet in a conical shape.  If taken out of the case, it acts the same as a regular lantern but is more difficult to hold onto without blocking light, as it is perfectly smooth and very small.

A bullseye lantern (60-foot radius of light) has only a single shutter, the other sides being highly polished to reflect the light in a single direction.

"Well that will be useful. I'll let anyone who wants it hold onto it, or if not, then I can use it for us." Kahan states, looking around and offering the gem to anyone who wants it.

Re: Harkahnon Ruins 10 - Battle with Esylia

You now have one of the two green gems to use the Time Ark.

Whoever uses the light-gem will only have one hand free to engage in other actions, so keep that in mind.

Borimer starts to slow down to normal speed...  :)

Handing out XP:

Check to see if you level up, and if you do, please notify me and increase your stats.

Whenever you level up or make permanent changes, please indicate the date you made the changes in your character sheet so we can keep it straight.

If you get the XP bonus of 10%, that is in addition to what you just received.

Kahan hands the gem over to Malissin and pulls out the portable hole, loading it up with all of Esylia's belongings (including her weapons), making sure to be especially careful with the exploding orbs. "We should probably get back to exploring. And let's not forget about the statue waiting around the corner to smash us." Kahan reminds everyone, folding the portable hole up and putting it away again.

"I already used my last low-level healing spell on you. I fear a higher level spell would be wasted unless you are more damaged." the priest replies to the warrior, pulling out a scroll from his backpack. "I can however cure your poison, now that I think about it." he adds, casting a spell.

Re: Harkahnon Ruins 10 - Battle with Esylia

Let's see...where were we?

Borimer gets his sight back.  Kahan also casts cure poison on him.  The statue was mostly done in by the grenades of Esylia, and you easily put it out of its misery.

You still have the potential issue of dealing with whatever Esylia set loose in the center room, changing the dials of the Time and Venue Arks, placing the gems in where they belong, and maybe even finding Androlus somewhere in the building.

Like I said, I'm super busy right now, but we can move along some of the basics to get this show on the road.  Sorry about my delays.

Check the last updated maps to see where you have/haven't explored yet.

Borimer blinks and stretches his limbs, still stiff from the poison.

"Thanks, friend."

He looks around at the room now scarred with battle.

"Now to figure out how to get out of here..."

As before, when moving through the rooms, just state your path by room number in sequence.  I'm sure anyone can probably take the lead here without a serious debate or discussion.

All poison is cured.

Re: Harkahnon Ruins 10 - Battle with Esylia

"I think getting the Ark and gems taken care of is our main task.  I wouldn't mind checkin out that center room, too.  If we find Androlus great, but if not, perhaps we should be leaving soon anyway."

Borimer didn't like leaving someone here, but he didn't like staying either, and he didn't know Androlus either way.  Still, leaving him here didn't sound right either, so the warrior puts it out of his mind and focuses on the current tactical situation.
