Attempting open hand combat to stun the orcs and use +3 damage.

"Guys...maybe we should start prepping the Ark? I sure as hell don't like that sound..."

Mal, if able, will attack the nearest orc. From behind, preferably. Even better if the orc was unarmed, asleep, and possibly even in a coma to boot. While Mal considered himself a decent person overall and tried to avoid violence where possible, when the swords were drawn and the magic flung, he fought to win and that meant that he didn't fight 'fair'.

Re: Harkahnon Ruins 12 - The Orcs

ROUND 7
Only one orc remains, and he fires off an arrow that misses Harak.  Meanwhile, Harak attacks him with his hands, hitting him and stunning him.  (Saving throw missed.)

This allows Malissin to come up and backstab him, taking down the last of Grung's accomplices.

Grung is quaffing a bluish liquid as two arrows from Borimer fly by his head.  Grung's body glows for a brief instant, and then his wounds begin to heal.  (Potion of Healing.)

Kahan is casting, and Borimer is healed.  (Cure serious wounds.)

Flint casts a lightning bolt that starts right in front of Borimer and directly hits Grung.  (29 hp dmg, saving throw missed.)

The lightning bolt is more than Grung can take, and he falls dead to the ground, dropping the container of bluish liquid next to him.

Something is approaching from the second floor northern area.  It bellows like some angry dragon might.

The other demon is breaking past the fire elemental to come to the spot where Harak and Malissin stand.

Borimer breathes deep running full speed back to the stairs and up to the second floor, intent on meeting the charge of the infernal death-trap headed towards his companions.

19 (level 1), 16, up the stairs to 22 (level 2), doorway to 32d; thats about 14 squares and borimer has an 18" movement rate

Re: Harkahnon Ruins 12 - The Orcs

Everyone makes it up to the second floor again.  About this time, you see the lizard-headed demon shove the fire elemental into the bottomless teleportation pit, and the result is an eerie rotation of light that comes and goes as it falls and falls past the floor again and again, its fire leaving a trail like an elongated candle flame.

The lizard creature turns toward you again, and you see it has a head resembling a lizard or dragon, the claws of an eagle, and the body of a brutish bulette.  Its eyes focus in on you with intelligence and evil as it is lit and then shadowed with each passing fall of the fire elemental.

You remember that it breathed fire. It seems to be unhurt by the fire elemental's attacks.

You hear another screeching call that sends a shiver through you, and you realize that the other demon, whatever it may be, is on the third floor above you somewhere, its heavy feet plodding around to the room that would be south of room 20c (a room you have not yet investigated).  It seems to be moving north (toward 20c, where it can go up or down the never ending pit).

"Someone hasten my stride like before!"

Borimer waits only long enough for anyone to cast their magic before he rushes to meet the demon at the door, Chianta swinging back and forth before him.

"Everybody Take cover!!" Flint decides to use the one last charge on the wand to conjure the exact same spell again.

Use Ice storm from the wand aiming to center the area on the demon

Borimer changes his plans upon hearing Flint's warning, and he ducks down to avoid the wand before charging the demon.

im thinking borimer could do this since he was going to wait just long enough for a possible haste spell anyway. if not, then borimer will boldly continue his charge fully unaware of his future freezing :)

Re: Harkahnon Ruins 12 - The Orcs

Borimer stops in his tracks as Flint calls out.  Harak and Mal slink away invisibly but maintain their distance.  An ice storm suddenly appears over the lizard demon's head, raining down on it and injuring it severely.  (58 hp dmg.)

Clearly angered by this, it fires a rocket-like fireball from its mouth straight at the wizard.  Flint jumps to the side but is badly injured by the fireball.  Kahan and Borimer manage to jump out of the way of the cone of fire, but Flint is hit directly and falls dead to the ground.  (22 hp dmg.)  Flint is now badly burned and dead. (At -15 hp.) (Flint had been injured by Esylia for 11 hp, by an arrow for 6 hp, and by his own ice storm for 7 hp.  He only had a total of 31 hp, so the 22 damage from this put him at death, which occurs at -10 hp.)

Borimer's delay also allows Kahan to cast a protective spell on him.  (Borimer now protected by protection from evil.)

The creature is very angry, very injured, and turning its head toward Borimer and Kahan next.

You hear stomping that indicates the other large creature is crossing the floor above you.

Androlus is still in the throne room below, but is likely safe for now.

OOC: For basic play purposes, this creature is treated as a greater yugoloth.

Borimer feels the rush of cold air over his head followed by the stabilizing force of his comrade's benediction for protection. He bolts after the wounded demon with the grim determination to finish it off before its big brother arrives.

Re: Harkahnon Ruins 12 - The Orcs

Kahan begins withdrawing with a chant, his eyes rolling up as he does so.

Borimer charge while Mal and Harak sneak up behind the lizard headed demon.

It rakes out with its claws, and bites.  All three attacks miss Borimer.

It is hard to tell what exactly happens next as Borimer, Mal and Harak all strike the creature at once.  Mal slips his blade under the bulette-like shell, and Harak strikes from behind, his scimitar slicing through its neck.  Borimer makes an amazing strike with his sword, driving the blade up through its jaw and skull.  But the end result is unmistakeable, the demon creature flops dead to the stone floor.  You quickly withdraw your weapons as you see its body begin dissolving.  Truly, it was a demon-like creature and not mere mortal flesh.

Kahan is deep in contemplation.
