Re: Harkahnon Ruins 12 - The Orcs

The two creatures run into the far room, and the sound of battle ensues.

A moment later, there is a flash of burning light with an explosive, thunderous sound, and a heat wave rushes into the room with you.  Some wizard has just set off a fireball in the far room.

You hear quick grunts and the sound of weapons striking, and then silence.

From the far room, you hear Grung's voice call out to you:  "You sends foul beasts to fight for you, cowards?  Come fight the king like men, not dogs."

Then there is silence as he awaits a response.

Re: Harkahnon Ruins 12 - The Orcs

Borimer stifles a chuckle and continues waiting for more demonspawn.  If nothing happens then he moves to the west door and locks it, careful to motion for a comrade to watch the east door.

will wait for 3 rounds (18 seconds?) or 1 round (1 minute?) depending on how time is moving (not sure how we do it with the house rules, but only giving enough time to determe if any more demons are approaching before moving from present spot)

After the demons were slain, Kahan pulls out the Rod of Absorption, making some motions with it while he looks at the book of instructions.

Borimer locks the west door and is waiting.

Kahan pulls out the Rod of absorption and begins making motions. A shimmer of air appears in front of him.

At the moment, no other demons are approaching that you can tell.

Grung says, in the Common tongue, "Flush them out, yes?  A fireball through the door.  Do it."

"This is bad news, only chance now is try to counter it" Flinte began casting a spell hoping to prevent the ball from blossoming fully into their space. He would call for winds.

Cast Gust of Wind fully in front the door trying to use it to make the fireball explode prematurely and to disipate the effects of the flame so the party is unharmed.

"Let's charge them now." Kahan said as he shook his head, motioning that they move backwards, while telling his stalker to go attack the wizard Grung has with him.

Borimer whispers quickly to Kahan as he moves towards Flint.

"Let Flint use his magic and then they might rush us.   We can surround them and attack after they've ran through the door..."

OOC: Since the door was broken by the demon creatures, there is no physical barrier, meaning you can peek in there if you wanted, but I am assuming for now that you are all hanging back out of sight.

The party moves west into the next room as Kahan makes a command and the shimmering being in front of him disappears toward the eastern door.

Meanwhile, Flint is casting, and then he joins the party as they retreat back to room 2.

A blasting explosion hits the doorway, escaping flames from a fireball in both the throne room and the Time Ark room.  Flint's spell has kept most of it out of the throne room, and no one is injured.

A moment later, you hear someone crying out in pain from the Time Ark room, and you assume it is the invisible stalker unleashed by Kahan.

Mal slinks into any shadows or behind a doorframe or any other obstacle. He's not too much use in a straight up fight at this point but he'll let the orcs rush past him then plant daggers in their backs.

OOC: Sorry for the absence, real life and what not...

Re: Harkahnon Ruins 12 - The Orcs

Borimer gets the benefit of Kahan's Aid spell as he runs into the Time Ark room, with Harak close on his heels.  Flint is casting a spell, and he and Harak turn invisible as they slink into the shadows.

Borimer and Harak first see just a pile of dead and scorched bodies, including the two strange demon creatures that had come through here.

Then they hear a voice, but it is a voice from above.  It commands, "Fire!"

Looking up, you see that Grung has stationed his men around the top balcony that overlooks the Time Ark device and the room Borimer and Harak have just entered.  Grung's archers stand poised above, bows drawn.  Meanwhile, Grung is holding his axe and pointing down.  Next to him is some sort of orc wizard who seems to be struggling with something invisible next to him.

Arrows rain down from above...

Sixteen arrows fly down from above.  They all miss or bounce harmlessly off of armor and sword except for one that hits Borimer and one that hits Harak.  (4hp dmg for Borimer, 2 hp dmg for Harak.)

There are 8 seasoned warrior orcs standing around the overlooking balcony, plus Grung and his otherwise engaged mage.  (Half a dozen more are dead on the first floor, their bodies littering the marble floor.)

Re: Harkahnon Ruins 12 - The Orcs

You are in room 16.  The stairs to the east lead up to where they are at, room 22.

Grung is just south of the door to 32d, and his mage is fighting the invisible stalker and stands just north of where the #22 is at on the map.

Re: Harkahnon Ruins 12 - The Orcs

Borimer rushes the stairs as the arrows bounce harmlessly off of his armor. One orc almost sticks the warrior in the side, but Kahan's spell absorbs what could have been first blood.  Borimer runs up the stairs unsheathing Chianta and preparing to kill whatever stands between he and Grung.
