Re: COMMENT THREAD 3

Could I reach a corner of the tarp by hand?  I'm thinking if I could, I might then cast enlarge on the tarp to recover the pit.

Re: COMMENT THREAD 3

Sorry it wasn't clear. My intention was that the tarp fell into the pit along with the rocks that were holding it in place.

Re: COMMENT THREAD 3

It sounds like there are two real chests and two fake ones.  I would surmise the chest in F is a fake since it had a pit in front of it.

The plan as I remember was to use Geebo or Sark with their 10' anti magic radius to negate the magical traps in the room while Leogold tries to open the chests.  The drawback here is if there are magic items in the chests they might get ruined.

Alternatively I have three second level spells left that I could use to cast knock, which has a 60 yard range.  This would preserve any potential magic in the chests.

Thoughts?

I'm still trying to figure out the best way to deal with Geebo's anti-magic aura. Heath, do we still have the box for Augmantium or did we have to leave it somewhere? I can't remember whatsoever after all this time... lol

Re: COMMENT THREAD 3

The box is gone. I believe it had to be placed somewhere.

Note that you have already gone through several antimagic auras. As soon as this area is done, which should go quickly if you guys make moves known, then you can sort that out. There are three "rooms/areas" left.

No. You suspected that for a bit, but he is a normal gnome (very old with a twin brother named Jark). They usually finish each other's sentences so he is a bit scatter brained by himself.

I will also guess where everyone is standing if you don't tell me a specific point on the grid.

Cool idea with the stone/flesh spells. That would have been fun to play out.

Makes me wonder how angry the "statue" would have been with us after we saved him from being turned to stone.

Re: COMMENT THREAD 3

Sorry, I thought this was just slowing down too much and everyone was talking about getting it over with and moving on.

The statue was not initially of flesh so was a lumbering stone golem, essentially, not intelligent. Flesh golem stats were going to be used. You would have also had to have fought (if you fought it) while holding breath against the poison air.

Also of note: Sark said Tarimar kept his notes in two chests, but you found no notes. If Tarimar was fleeing the cave for good, you figure he would not have just left his precious notes lying around. Therefore, the other three chests were empty. A red herring.

Re: COMMENT THREAD 3

Are we all healed from the sickness now that we have the earthgold and berries?  Or do we need to bring both to the Gnomes to prepare?

Also, does it make sense for Tahldar to teleport back?  Now that we are clear of the caves I could teleport back with the berries/earthgold.  Or I could cast the spell on another to teleport back.  The spell is range touch.

Re: COMMENT THREAD 3

The mixture has to be made by the main gnome back at camp who knows how to mix it properly.

This is the teleport spell you are referring to? And he has one ready to go?

Teleport
(Alteration)

Range: Touch Components: V
Duration: Instantaneous Casting Time: 2
Area of Effect: Special Saving Throw: None

When this spell is used, the wizard instantly transports himself, along with a certain amount of additional weight that is on or being touched by the spellcaster, to a well-known destination. Distance is not a factor, but interplanar travel is not possible by means of a teleport spell. The spellcaster is able to teleport a maximum weight of 250 pounds, plus an additional 150 pounds for each level of experience above the 10th (a 13th-level wizard can teleport up to 700 pounds). If the destination area is very familiar to the wizard (he has a clear mental picture due to previous proximity to and study of the area), it is unlikely that there is any error in arriving, although the caster has no control over his facing upon arrival. Lesser known areas (those seen only magically or from a distance) increase the probability of error. Unfamiliar areas present considerable peril (see table).

Probability of Teleporting:
Destination Is: High On Target Low
Very familiar 01-02 03-99    00
Studied carefully 01-04 05-98 99-00
Seen casually 01-08 09-96 97-00
Viewed once 01-16 17-92 93-00
Never seen 01-32 33-84 85-00

Teleporting high means the wizard arrives 10 feet above the ground for every 1% he is below the lowest "On Target" probability; this could be as high as 320 feet if the destination area was never seen. Any low result means the instant death of the wizard if the area into which he teleports is solid. A wizard cannot teleport to an area of empty space--a substantial surface must be there, whether a wooden floor, a stone floor, natural ground, etc. Areas of strong physical or magical energies may make teleportation more hazardous or even impossible.

Questions: Is it a "well known" destination? I don't think he studied it, so it would bear the dangers of the chart. I would use the "viewed once" or maybe "seen casually" row.

You could keep that in your back pocket in case there are delays that might create risk. However, Geebo was about to tell the group that there are usually boats along the river that may be borrowed or rented...or so he heard...and that would speed things up considerably if they could find one. (This will be again by chance.)

Re: COMMENT THREAD 3

If Tahldar would vocalize that he can cast Teleport, Kahan has a spell that can increase the probability of success by about 20% (although he wouldn't have the exact number obviously). It even specifically suggests using it on a Mage casting Teleport so I know it works! Lol

Re: COMMENT THREAD 3

Interesting...
So Tahldar would send himself and the healing materials to the gnomes and everyone else would meet him there a day later? It doesn't appear you can teleport someone else, based on the description.

Re: COMMENT THREAD 3

Teleport is range touch so I think you can cast it on another.  But the description of the spell makes it seem the caster only.  Not sure.

If I can I'll cast it on Fingas.

Okay. So you'll cast it on Fingas and send him back with the formula and the items for healing, right? Anything else to send with him?

Re: COMMENT THREAD 3

DM Heath:
You are outside now. It is dark out. Not far from the exit of the cave area, you see a trail leading northwest through the woods and the mist. If you don't take the trail, you can go north or south or west, but the giant mountain you just exited is behind you blocking the easterly directions.

DM Heath:
Kahan casts a spell. The safest path revealed to him is the path through the forest and mist that Geebo mentioned.

We'll take the trail northwest through the woods and mist.

Note that I archived the two private threads. This means that you should be able to read what was in the thread of the other party if you want. I assume as the PCs get to know each other, they would share this information.
