This is a quick unofficial reference, pretty sure I found an official one when I was looking it up a couple months ago, though it took some hunting:

that's unofficial though. As far as i'm concerned, you're either inside the cloud benefiting and suffering from concealment rolls or your not.

We can get a GM ruling on it though if you want.

Re: Monster Mash #3: Ario vs. Nyssa vs. Ugrim

Ah, right, found it:

=pfrd:
When making a melee attack against an adjacent target, your target has concealment if his space is entirely within an effect that grants concealment. When making a melee attack against a target that isn't adjacent to you, use the rules for determining concealment from ranged attacks.

Thus, as we are adjacent and you are not in a space that grants concealment, and I am, I get concealment from you, but you do not get it from me.

Re: Monster Mash #3: Ario vs. Nyssa vs. Ugrim

Ugrim's shouting had turned into more ravenous bellowing at this point so his commands didn't really make much sense at all at this point. Fortunately, the Grodair was smart enough to act of it's own accord.

Perhaps it should have attempted to interpret Ugrim's command as it completely missis with each of it's attacks. Realizing it's lef itself wide open, the creature jumps into the fog to conceal Itself, resisting the effects of it the cloud splendidly.

Did you write 1d100, or 1d00?  If 1d00, I don't know that it could give you anything other than ones as the dice roller starts at 1 and not 0.

16:42, Today: Ugrim rolled 16 using 1d20+11 with rolls of 5.  Trip attempt. (Success)

Ok, much better. The bite and the first tentacle hit. I still move into the mist though and my fort save is still a pass.

After DR, N4 takes 5 damage and is tripped. N3 skates by on concealment.

It is now Nyssa's monster's turn.

Re: Monster Mash #3: Ario vs. Nyssa vs. Ugrim

Ugrim had to be restrained as the elemental struck the fish. About 20 armed guards had to work in tandem to keep the orc from jumping the stands and rushing the arena, falchion in hand to attack the Elemental. Albit, they had to work extremely hard.

The fish, after staggering to the right after being struck so hard, stamped it's foot and the ground around it instantly swelled with water, creating a marshy swamp like area, making it difficult for anything to move comfortable. Anything, but the Grodair that is.

OOC: The Dretches vanish after my turn so it must be Ario's turn now. Of particular note, Your elemental now does not gain it's earth mastery and instead will take a -4 penalty to attack and damage as long as it's attacking me. Cause let's face it, i'm not leaving this bog, even if it kill me. ;P

Re: Monster Mash #3: Ario vs. Nyssa vs. Ugrim

Actually, the penalty is only when *waterborne* not when wet.  Shallow bog is only one foot of water http://www.d20pfsrd.com/gamema...-marsh-swamp-terrain so neither monster is waterborn... they're both touching the ground (which meets earth mastery requirement) and have their ankles wet (which is just yucky).  That was shockingly debilitating until I read the actual abilities.

I'll have my turn up in a few minutes.

I don't know, I think I want an official ruling on that. Cause I can see your point, but still, we ARE in water now.

But it the event it is ruled in your favor, here's the explody damage. Just to keep things moving.

16:53, Today: Ugrim rolled 18 using 5d6 with rolls of 1,6,5,1,5.  EXPLODE!!! DC17 reflex for half.
16:55, Today: Ugrim rolled 4 using 2d6 with rolls of 2,2.  Secondary explode, DC 21 survival check to negate.

Re: Monster Mash #3: Ario vs. Nyssa vs. Ugrim

The earth elemental takes the full 18 from the explosion, but he doesn't try to get the organs (sicko) so he doesn't cause the secondary explosion.

Assuming I'm right about standing on the ground in 1' of water not constituting waterborne, by definition, the earth elemental drops to 35 hp and the match ends.

ROLLS:
18:05, Today: Ario rolled 10 using 1d20+1 with rolls of 9.  dc 17 reflex vs splodey fish.

Re: Monster Mash #3: Ario vs. Nyssa vs. Ugrim

We're talking about the Earth Elemental's Earth Mastery ability - it gives a +1 to attack and damage when touching the ground, but -4 to attack and damage when it or its opponent are 'airborne' or 'waterborne'.

The Grodair used it's muddy field ability to make a shallow bog.  Ugrim thinks there being water on the ground counts as waterborne, whereas I believe it still constitutes touching on the ground, even if the ground is wet.
