Re: Monstrous Royal #1: Boadicea v. Groppo v. Latro v. ???

A sudden need for saves just occurred so i will do this now as opposed to on my actual turn to prevent the possibility of time line inconsistencies.

The shield flew from Boadicea's hand and landed directly on Tiaca's temple, rendering her unconscious long enough to send her toppling over the edge into the sludge below, along with her precious familiar.

Though they were both able to avoid the nauseating effects of the poisonous bog, the fire acid quickly began eating away at them both.

dice rolls

02:06, Today: Latro Dectus rolled 11 using 1d20+6 with rolls of 5.  Tiaca - Reflex to grab ledge DC 15.
02:18, Today: Latro Dectus rolled 6,9,25 using 2d6,2d6,1d20+7 with rolls of 4,2,6,3,18.  Tiaca - fire, acid Damage, fort save vs nausea.
02:20, Today: Latro Dectus rolled 6,11,18 using 2d6,2d6,1d20+2 with rolls of 5,1,5,6,16.  Avecularia - fire, acid, fort vs nausea.

Summary:
Tiaca and her familiar fall over the edge of the bridge into the sludge below.

Looks like its a race agains tthe clock to get these two back over to the edge of the arena when my turn comes along.

Re: Monstrous Royal #1: Boadicea v. Groppo v. Latro v. ???

The monstrous stony creature's jaws open wide and an eerie green glow pulls Groppo into it with an effect that looked more like teleportation than actual swallowing. Suddenly, Groppo is gone and Latro's weapon barely scratches the surface of the creature's stony exterior with such little effect. The creature turns and looks at Latro, it's eyes glowing as its hungry gaze is now directed towards him....

DICE ROLLS:
02:49, Today: GM Arkrim, for the NPC monster, rolled 34 using 1d20+29 with rolls of 5.  sustain grapple/swallow whole.

   SUMMARY:
The creature is immune to all of Latro's effects except the actual weapon damage. It's even immune to damage created by Touch of Corruption.

Groppo is sucked into an extradimensional space. This functions as Swallow Whole. Groppo takes no damage in this space, but there is no air to breath and he has 3 rounds before facing suffocation.

(AC 17, hardness 8, 25 hp, to escape the extradimensional space, immunity to bludgeoning damage)

OCC: It is immune to a LOT of stuff and resistant to pretty much everything else. Death by a thousand cuts won't work on this thing. Gotta hit heavy or go home...also gotta hit heavy with stuff it ISN'T immune to....

Re: Monstrous Royal #1: Boadicea v. Groppo v. Latro v. ???

Groppo lands on the inside of something - not even sure if he's inside the creature at all - and quickly gets to work. Drawing his second hooked hammer, he grabs it with both hands and strikes with the pick-axe side as hard as he can. These weapons evolved from mining tools, so hopefully he has everything he needs to break out of this place. The weapon hits with a magical strength, sending shockwaves of pain through his body as he begins to work his way out.

15:17, Today: Groppo rolled 31 using 1d20+15 with rolls of 16.  Power attack piercing side vs the room thingy.

SUMMARY: Attacks extradimensional space, hitting for 18 points of piercing+magical damage, and 4 points of vicious damage, dealing 6 points of damage to self. That should be 10 damage after hardness, leaving the space at 15 hp.

OOC: Not sure about the vicious damage. If it is a source of damage on it's own, then I guess it doesn't matter because of the hardness. From what I understand it at least is not energy damage, meaning it could come to bypass the hardness if I actually roll well another time.
3 rounds until suffocation, that is the time he can hold his breath instead of the constitution*2 rounds then - meaning constitution DC10 check vs unconsciousness on the fourth round?

Re: Monstrous Royal #1: Boadicea v. Groppo v. Latro v. ???

Latro was furious. Not only had Boadicea seen fit to knock his handmaiden into the pool of goop below, but this creature proved to be considerably more resilient than anything Latro had previously faced. Not only that, apparently it could swallow creates in addition to stone bridges.
Running out of options, Latro sacrifices one of his attacks to call upon a divine favor, granting him an even sharper blade that strikes even true than before. Gripping his sword with both hands, he laid into the creature with everything his strength alone could muster, severing chucks of the stone creature with his sword. Latro felt very proud of himself.

Tiaca and Ave fumble around in the goop trying to escape. Ave does her best to help her master while also staying atop her head. Alas, Tiaca was not exactly made for swimming and she quickly sunk beneath the goop. Her familiar dove beneath the surface to help her master escape the goop. Tiaca was very disappointed in herself.

Also, Groppo, i think you've got three rounds to breath before you have to start holding your breath. And even then you have a number of rounds equal to your Con score before you actually need to start rolling for suffocation.

The creature rips into Latro dealing 60 damage across 3 attacks and Latro becomes grappled.

Groppo is still in extradimensional space:
(AC 17, hardness 8, 15/25 hp, to escape the extradimensional space, immunity to bludgeoning damage)

Groppo has 2 rounds of air left. That's how much time of breathable air is left before you're without air. Not really all that dangerous unless you DON'T have a weapon. If you keep dropping your weapons during combat THEN it would be an issue being trapped in there. So long as you have a piercing or slashing weapon and deal more than 8 damage per swing on average, it's just an inconvenience.

OOC: So Groppo gets back out to the same position? If there's a choice, that's what I'd prefer. The crit I rolled doesn't really matter unless the creature takes damage when I attack the inside of it (assuming I was inside of it), in which case it does matter a lot :)

Re: Monstrous Royal #1: Boadicea v. Groppo v. Latro v. ???

OOC: It's supposed to be random. Groppo appears in L9, right next to Latro. And yes, objects are immune to crits. This particular "swallow whole" ability is not physical its teleportation and the "extradimensional space" is a separate object.

06:56, Today: GM Arkrim, on behalf of Groppo, rolled 1 using 1d12 with rolls of 1.  1 = north, 2= north east, 3 = east, etc.

Re: Monstrous Royal #1: Boadicea v. Groppo v. Latro v. ???

Poor Tiaca and Ave were basically destined to die in the sludge, but Tiaca wasn't going to go down without a fight. After Ave grabbed on to her underneath the sludge, Tiaca emerged from the pool, dropped one of her held scrolls and pointed towards he betrayer. From her finger shot two rays of fire that struck true against the warrior.

Latro, despite being grappled, wasn't giving up either. His specially designed armor had saved him from an otherwise extremely lethal blow but being unable to wield his sword with two hands while in this position was unfortunate. Nonetheless, Latro swung his sword with unprecedented fury at the creature.

SUMMARY: Latro's armor prevents the monster's critical hit from landing. Latro takes 14 less damage than he would have otherwise. Latro swings with everything he's got. He deals 11 damage after DR to the creature. Tiaca blasts Boadicea with two rays of scorching fire. She deals 25 fire damage.

OOC: idk about that NL damage. I think the sludge begins at +2 on the map and goes down from there. I could be wrong though so I went ahead and rolled it and adjusted my position on the map as if i was wrong. But can we get some quick clarification on where the sludge begins and ends, GM? The only thing it really effects is if I took NL damage and where exactly on the +/- scale Tiaca and Ave are. Otherwise my turn for her is exactly the same, just add +2 to all of her positions since she fell into the sludge.
Also, i keep forgetting to account for the Bless effect that Tiaca and Ave have on them, but it hasn't changed any outcomes so far so no need to worry.

Holy Crap a lot happened this round for me. Well, let's go ahead and get swallowed up. No reason to delay the inevitable. :P

Re: Monstrous Royal #1: Boadicea v. Groppo v. Latro v. ???

OOC: technically speaking the rules call for the one who has concealment to roll the miss chance. But more over, I had Tiaca move to the topmost part of the sludge so she's not firing through anything other than the air.
But once again, i might be wrong about such things and my sinking from +2 in the sludge could have brought me lower than +1 so in the instance that I am in fact wrong and Tiaca and her familiar are still submerged, here is some mis chance for you.

10:06, Today: Latro Dectus rolled 113 using 2d100 with rolls of 38,75.  1-50 = miss.

So in the event that i do indeed need mis chance, on a 50% chance, only the second would succeed. If there is a partial obscuring effect,
thats a 25% miss chance and both would hit.

Let us continue the death!

Re: Monstrous Royal #1: Boadicea v. Groppo v. Latro v. ???

Groppo gets out and rips into the beast with a vengeance. "RAAAAAAAHH!" The scream echoes through the arena, and may very well have been produced as much by exertion as by pain from using the magical hooked hammer. Still wielding the pickaxe with both hands, Groppo shifts his grip to use the weapon to strike with both sides. The first hit pierces deep into the monster, sending shockwaves through it and Groppo alike; the second hit is weak in comparison, and his final swings miss the target.

Either way the pooled genious of forum warriors seem to agree that it's not more of weapon damage (although if it was I'd get DR against it :P). So unless you rule otherwise regarding the type of damage, and unless it has specific immunities to this too,
I guess the damage will go through?
Total 75 damage, unless my specific weapon type & magic combinations bypass DR, by my calculations.
And pls no immune: crit!

Re: Monstrous Royal #1: Boadicea v. Groppo v. Latro v. ???

Latro found himself in a strange place only surrounded by walls. His haste enchantment was about to run out, but Latro was not concerned by this. His main concern was that he could feel the amount of air he had left to breath running out very quickly. Taking a moment to focus, Latro quickly heals of of the grievous wounds he had accrued from the creature's onslaught.

Meanwhile, in the sludge below, Avicularia finally passed from this world an into the next.
Tiaca flew into a rage and, ignoring her own life span, swam after the barbarian to the north. Flinging the last of her scorching rays towards her foe.

Re: Monstrous Royal #1: Boadicea v. Groppo v. Latro v. ???

Boadicea trys with all her might to ignore the Nat shooting Ray's at her knowing that she is already dead wether she knows it or not and charges forward.  She stops short of the next bridge and let's her shield fly and some how is able to knock a few pebbles off the beast's head rolling just right to cover it's eye sockets obscuring its vision and being the amazing trick shot she is her shield bounces around between the beast's legs impeding it's ability to move around.  Boadicea then centers herself and heals a small amount of damage.

SUMMARY: Boadicea charges to S11+4 and throws her shield Blinding and entagling the beast for 4 rounds or it uses a standard action to clear conditions and Boadicea heals 18 dmg

OOC: DT is much easier to describe on non constructs, GM assuming I can hit it again I would like to use Shaken or Sickened DT does not allow a Fort save so in mechanics it can get the conditions from DT do you object to either use?

Latro as I said in my last combat post you are correct on no non-lethal damage I was going by the distance between where they where and where you had them land.  That said last round when Tiaca fired her Ray from +0 or 10' under the muck which you pointed out is at +2 in very same post I had 50% concealment as she is now at the surface no miss chance.

GM Arkrim:
  • Heal 1d6 hp/2 levels as a standard action.

B: I can not see what types of actions you've taken, but generally a charge is a full round, meaning you would not be able to heal as well.

Re: Monstrous Royal #1: Boadicea v. Groppo v. Latro v.

OOC: Sorry Boadicea, I'm not pulling punches.

1) If you'd wanted to use a hero point, you would've declared it.

2) You can only charge in a straight line and you are not within 30 feet of the target.

30 feet horizontal + 20 feet vertical = 35-40 feet away.

It's impossible for you to make that maneuver as a charge.

You can still attempt a standard THROWN attack, just not a charge or all the stuff that comes with.

3) However, your bonus to CMB without charge, point blank shot, and rage is only +21

At least, that is, according to the items and abilities YOU provided at the start of this match.

Your attack would miss according to what you listed.

Although you would've hit if you'd been raging OR if the maps structure had allowed you to actually charge. This is what happens when you hold back even a little: you put yourself at greater risk of failure.

...

I pull no punches in this match. I declared that in the beginning.

Like you said. This map is nasty. ;)

Re: Monstrous Royal #1: Boadicea v. Groppo v. Latro v. ???

Groppo's attacks swing true and his pick does what it was always meant to do from the dawn of gnomes and dwarves: tear the ever-living crap out of stone. The creature's stony flesh is ripped away and huge chunks of its mass fly off. The glowing green energy holding it together flickers. It does not have much holding it together. In a desperate flurry, the creature lunges at Groppo pulling him in for the kill just as a shield goes flying overhead.

Re: Monstrous Royal #1: Boadicea v. Groppo v. Latro v. ???

OOC: the best part is i almost posted with that strategy in one of my posts's OOC sections while groppo was trapped and then decided, "Wait a second. Why would I do that and give away a vital strategy to my opponents and also clue the DM in that i was about to use this myself. Knowing Arkrim, he would use that to my disadvantage and just attack away at me and not let me recover."

Suffice to say, i got them gears a turning inside my IRL head. ;P

But enough idle chit-chat. Let's see what happens on Groppo's turn! >:D

Re: Monstrous Royal #1: Boadicea v. Groppo v. Latro v. ???

Groppo, grabbed by the creature, struggles to move at all. The creature is much too strong for him to get out of the grip, and being unable to move his left arm at all, Groppo cannot even use his weapon. He keeps it in his grip, however, settles down to wait and see what will happen. "I'm stuck here!" he yells. "Your turn with this.. urnh... monster!" he groans as twists in the tightening grapple, looking over his shoulder towards Boadicea. Then he relaxes, and prepares to act on whatever the monster does next.

1) I agree my dummy move

2) I charged from S14+4 to S11+4; straight line greater than 10', Imp charging hurler (Martial flexibility in effects line) allows a charging throw at up to Max range, Kitsune style allows for Dirty Trick at the end of a charge, Throw Shield (Brawler, SC 7th)allows shield to do combat manuevers on throw

3) race +1, ion stone socketed +2, BAB +10, STR +6(Belt),weapon enchant as a weapon +1, WF +1, GWF +1(MF), IDT +2, GDT +2, CH +2 (allowed threw ICH)

Re: Monstrous Royal #1: Boadicea v. Groppo v. Latro v. ???

OOC: This match is meant to be on hard mode. I get that you're frustrated, but here's the deal...

You must have a clear path toward the opponent, and nothing can hinder your movement (such as difficult terrain or obstacles). You must move to the closest space from which you can attack the opponent. If this space is occupied or otherwise blocked, you can’t charge. If any line from your starting space to the ending space passes through a square that blocks movement, slows movement, or contains a creature (even an ally), you can’t charge. Helpless creatures don’t stop a charge.

Benefit: You can use the charge rules to make a thrown weapon attack. All the parameters of a charge apply, except that you must only move closer to your opponent, and you must end your movement within 30 feet of that opponent. If you do, you can make a single thrown weapon attack against that opponent, gaining the +2 bonus on the attack roll and taking a –2 penalty to your AC until the start of your next turn.

There is some vagueness here but you know what I say about vagueness here in the arena. Unless SPECIFICALLY SAYS OTHERWISE, you don't get to change any aspect of the core rule.

It did not specifically remove any parameters of the charge except that now you can do it with a thrown attack so long as you are within 30 feet....which you are not. You're 35-40 feet away because of the height difference on the map.

You have a super awesome build and the throwing works great, but this map is not very friendly towards the charging aspect of it if your foe is always 35-40 feet away and you can't move at least 10 feet towards it without going up difficult terrain. This map makes charging a target on the center area impossible even for your build unless you're also up there...or have some way to negate the difficult terrain caused by stairs...or fly.

IN ADDITION....
The Cracked Dusty Rose Prism only gives you +1 Initiative not +2 to attack and you cannot "socket" or customize items unless you craft them yourself. Plus the wayfinder doesn't list anything for the cracked version, only the full version. But you listed having the cracked version. And remember: vagueness means no. It has to SPECIFICALLY say the thing.

You also don't have GWF according to posted stats.

You cannot apply PBS to a target farther than 30 feet.

You cannot apply a charge bonus because you cannot charge.

Sorry, Boadicea. Your Captain America build is cool and all, but your charge was an illegal maneuver because of where you were on the map. You missed it by 5 feet because of this map's design. I specifically said if you committed an illegal maneuver EVEN BY ACCIDENT it would negate your actions (so even if you'd had +1,000 to hit and rolled a crit, because you applied charging benefits to a situation you couldn't charge, I still could've called you out on it). Don't think I haven't been watching Latro's stuff like a hawk too.

Part of the price of having me oversee a match is that I'm anal as hell. Just ask Latro how anal I am. I've caught him on these small technicalities in the past as well.

LATRO. YOU'RE UP.

*watches like hawk*
