Re: Monstrous Royal #1: Boadicea v. Groppo v. Latro v. ???

Latro could almost feel the creature's pain from his extra dimensional prison. Preparing for his escape and to face the other two combatants, Latro drops his sword at his side and cats a spell with his now free hand, knowing he very well may need his shield arm in the coming battle. He then picks the sword back up.

"Why do you treat me in this way, Latro?" the sword snarled at him.
"All to better serve you, my dear" Latro sneered back at it.

Tiaca, try as she may, was unable to stay afloat in the nauseating sludge and sunk beneath the surface once again.
Ave finished dissolving in the toxic death.

Boadicea whips her shield again this time with both hands and slightly better outcome she barely damages the beast but at least she did something to it.

Re: Monstrous Royal #1: Boadicea v. Groppo v. Latro v. ???

Annoyed by the pesky shield, the creature quickly gobbles up Groppo and turns to flee the barbarian. It can barely stand as it's stony exterior has been cracked and broken, and the green magic holding it together flickers with unstable resonance.

Re: Monstrous Royal #1: Boadicea v. Groppo v. Latro v. ???

Groppo is sucked into the creature once more. Just like that mighty Latro had been just a couple of moments ago. Where was that drow? If he could do any of those things that he did in all of the stories that went around the arena, then surely he would be back out pounding on the monster again. Unless... "That son of a rock, motherless bastard raised in a cave! What the blasts is he doing, expecting me to take on the creature all by myself?!" Boiling with rage, Groppo drinks a potion and prepares himself to go out and continue the fight.

Re: Monstrous Royal #1: Boadicea v. Groppo v. Latro v. ???

Tiaca regained her composure and surfaced only a small area away from where she sank.
Raising her held scroll from above the toxic sludge, she read the scroll aloud as best she could and from it a bolt of lighting streamed across the way towards the partially covered Boadicea. Satisfied with the damage she dealt for her master, she allowed herself to be taken by the sludge, never to be seen from again for the rest of the match

Gripping his sword in both hands, Latro begins to make quick work of the walls surrounding him and bursts forth from his prison. Finding himself back in the arena and once again face to face with the creature, Latro summons his dark heroics and swings one last time to fell this creature for good. With his swing, the creature finally moves no longer and a spell that Latro had put into effect earlier triggers.
His skin grows harder, and muscles grow larger, and his very presence seems to suggest the arrival of an unstoppable juggernaut.

Turning his attention to Boadecia, Latro surveys the area and sees his handmaiden dying in the pool of acid. "Now that the creature is dead and my power is greater still, none shall prevent me from achieving victory in this bout! Boadicea! Prepare yourself, for my wrath shall fall upon you first!"

Groppo will find that Latro's aura, should he enter it, now affects him... assuming he makes it out of the creature's prison? IDK what happens to Groppo now.

OOC: And now to kill the player characters. >:D
Also, now that it's dead, can we know what the heck that thing was?

With super powers Boadicea steps out of the path of Tiaca's Bolt just in time so that it arcs right past her.  She then rushes toward a corner putting a pillar between her and the spell caster.

Re: Monstrous Royal #1: Boadicea v. Groppo v. Latro v. ???

The light inside the creature suddenly grew brighter as a blade-swinging drow burst forth from within the creature, throwing chunks of it in every direction. Even Groppo reappeared, thrown to the wayside from the blast. The crowd roared with surprise and elation as Latro stood victorious over the bits of the creature that had just devoured him.

The beast was dead. Now a new beast remained in the arena...each gladiator's own bloodlust....

Re: Monstrous Royal #1: Boadicea v. Groppo v. Latro v. ???

Groppo appears, and immediately turns to the most powerful enemy still standing in the arena. "It's your turn now, fancy man!" Feeling the effects of Latro's magical defenses, but powering through most of them, Groppo steps up and begins swinging his hooked hammer. The pickaxe side hits with as much precision and might as it had previously hit the monster, the hammer side lands a solid blow as well, and the magical energies of the hammer burn both of the combatants.

Re: Monstrous Royal #1: Boadicea v. Groppo v. Latro v. ???

@GM, yeah, i wasn't about to get clawed up by that creature again and I really wanted my +1 to hit, damage, and my DR 2/- so spending a hero point was worth it imo. :P

@Groppo: Before i take my turn, did your attacks account for the fact that Latro's  AC for the round is a 31? Also is your damage dealt before or after Latro's own DR 2/-?
The reason i haven't been listing it as such is because it's by far much easier to maintain my static AC and all that and just list my immediate bonuses below them in blue. It's a trend i've been maintaining throughout this match for the most part.

Also, let me just check really quick to see if your crit actually was a crit or not.

07:05, Today: Latro Dectus rolled 50 using 1d100 with rolls of 50.  1-25 crit cancilation.

Re: Monstrous Royal #1: Boadicea v. Groppo v. Latro v. ???

Did not account for the higher AC, I was confused as to what numbers were the actual ACs etc, so I went with the higher numbers stated after AC. If you have several temporary AC bonuses, I guess I understand why you write it like that! What's the difference between your AC within and without parenthesis though? Crit confirm is still high enough, the other hit would not be. Your stated AC does affect several of my choices in a round, so I would ask that you state your total AC for the round clearly rather than add buffs in several layers. With a confirmed crit, I suppose I wouldn't change anything in retrospect - but still :)
Also, did not subtract DR.

Inside parentheses is after continuous magic effects such as Hedging Weapons and the like, but i see your point.
I'll make sure to keep actual AC up to date instead of just listing numbers.

Real post coming soon.

OOC: Just make your rolls and notate how much higher they are if Groppo is good aligned.

There's no reason for you to wait. Especially since I'm going to call the 48 hour rule on you the moment it arrives and Groppo is under no obligation to answer that question unless you cast a certain divination effect.

Now, POST FASTER! *cracks GM whip*

Re: Monstrous Royal #1: Boadicea v. Groppo v. Latro v. ???

OOC: I think I have a right to know if my smite is effective or not before I go swinging my sword about willy nilly.
Yeah, detect good lets me know if he is good or not so I dont have to waste a smite on him, but I'm choosing to use a smite on him there by letting me know if he is good or not via the bonuses i will get should he be aligned as such.

alternatively, you as the GM/Ref could just let me know one way or the other and then crack that whip even harder. This is an acceptable outcome and will get me to post quicker.

I've got a good 24+ hours left before the 48 hour mark and I fully intend to take my turn before then. The result of my turn does weigh heavily on if my smite is effective or not though. If i don't get that information, I'm just not going to smite him and take some other kind of action to attempt to preserve my life. But i do believe I am entitled to know if my smite is effective or not.

Edit: I understand that there is a certain discontent from traditional tabletop gaming in the format that we are in and we do pretty well for ourselves for the most part. But there are in fact certain situations where I as the play am in need of information as a result of part of my action to allow me to take the rest of my turn.
If this was a tabletop format, and Groppo was some kind of creature and i declared i was going to smite good on it, you as the GM (i hope)
wouldn't say "Just swing at it and see if your smite is effective or not." You would say (I hope) seems that your smite is ineffective against this creature. And then i would say, "well crap, guess i'm not getting that big AC boost. Looks like i'm fighting defensively" or something along those lines. Ya know?

And personally, i feel thats what the 48 hour rule should be used for. If your turn is going to be pretty meticulous, then one should be allowed to declare their actions in steps and ask for the results of the actions as they come. And should the turn that they post be in some way different than the declared actions leading up to it, then the hammer can come down super hard on them.

Latro Dectus:
OOC: I think I have a right to know if my smite is effective or not before I go swinging my sword about willy nilly.

Then you think wrong. That'd be like demanding to know what your dice rolls will be before you roll them. It's ludicrous.

You do not get to demand someone tell you their alignment without using an ability that SPECIFICALLY states that it tells you.

You have detect good as an ability too. Just use it if you want to know so badly.

HOWEVER, your opponents can offer you that info for free if they want, but they are not obligated to tell you and the time you wait for them to respond DOES count against you on the 48 hour rule. So they can simply not respond and then call you on it. Be aware of that. You cannot use that question to pause this match or ANY match.

Groppo is being courteous offering you MORE information than you are owed. He's being a good sport but he'd still be well within his rights to simply NOT tell you until after you'd attempted a smite and dealt damage to him (which would reveal its effectiveness to you) or used some effect to actually detect his alignment (as specified in the rules).
