Stepping out of the portal leading from the arena grounds to the distant location of the next battle, the gladiators encounter a marvelous sight. High up in the mountains, they stand between towering cyclopean buildings, the ancient masonry strangely appearing as if built to resemble the cliffs and rocks that should be - but are not - present at this mountaintop. To one side, the mountain range spreads beyond the horizon, few if any peak reaching higher than the one they are standing on. To what would appear to be the west, the sun is setting just where the foothills flatten out, casting an eerie, purple red light over the otherwise dark sky. Opposite to that, deep red light of aurora borealis dances on the sky as if projected by the sun. Looking away from the mountain range, to what could be the north, the hills slope down towards a desert spotted by dark rocks, or perhaps buildings or pillars. A purple-green mist, probably covering an area equal to that of a large city block, illuminated by the final rays of the sun, moves swiftly over the desert towards the east.

But this view will have to be left behind, as inside four separate dark holes in the ground, stairs lead into the underground construction from ages long past, where the battle will take place. The enemies, about whom nothing is known except that they are four, are already down there somewhere... Preparing... Waiting...

OOC: GLHF guys! This will be fun! I don't think I actually will earn anything from this, since I'm in the top in regards to BP, and there will be no PvP points... But I'll try my best in the fight still - the monsters actually have a higher combined HP than I've ever used myself in the arena (even in my last fight)! I do consider it a match that is more for fun though, and so I won't be doing any rules lawyering except to protect my own actions ;)

As the monsters have a Disable Device bonus and ranks, I took the liberty of adding thief's tools to their their gear... Just in case it comes up - it would be strange to have a skill bonus but then not the cheap item that is necessary to use the skill without adding 10 to the DC! Or we could just hand-wave that DC addition? The trick walls are meant to be opened (by all) :)

Well, that's a 21 for Somatra as well.  Do we want to roll off for who goes 1st or do we go by Dex Bonus?

I'll take A20 for my starting point if no one else had their heart set on it.

Opal enters into the arena for the first time in a while. She was really rusty, bust she felt confidant with her familiar by her side and her new temporary ally in Somatra.

Somatra steps into the area, taking her time to inspect the myriad corners and barriers.  "Well, time to make a good first impression." She calmly pulls an arrow out along with one of her vials.  While applying the contents to the arrow head she slips into the shadows of the walls.

The match hasn’t really started yet, I’d say add the materials you’ve payed for to your list. I’m expecting a good, clean, hopefully quite deadly fight either way. The monsters have, unless you’re opposed to that, been equipped with tools even though no rules specify that I can shop for them. And I’ve forgotten to list a few things in the information I reveal to you guys (uses, SR), so I’ll add that in my first round.

The wind moans, flowing slowly through the dusky tunnels - threatening to put out the smaller of the few torches that are scattered throughout the place. Footsteps echo through the battleground. A voice carries on the wind from the north-eastern corner of the complex, a powerful woman's voice. She laughs, the volume rising to a near scream - then abruptly stops and is replaced by a hacking cough.

"Svog dearest," Opal cooed at him, "Go and watch for those bad beasties while Mama prepares to obliterate them."

Svog bounces a couple of times before trodding off down one of the corridors to keep watch.

Opal removed a scroll from one of her scroll cases and cast the magic held within as she moved down the southern corridor to prepare to open on of the walls for her ally. Instantly, she seemed to be 40 years younger and her overall health and physical might seemed to improve greatly. Even Svog, her familiar seemed to benefit from his master's rejuvenated constitution.

"Come here. COME HERE!" calls the woman's voice, now much more hoarse and not as elegant as one would expect after hearing that laughter. Silent footsteps echo down the dark corridors, as the woman walks up to face the witch's animal. That lone creature will soon see that she has in fact at one point been an angel. Blackened wings and burning, red eyes reveal that her nature is now of a much more twisted type.

Far down the winding tunnels, another of the enemies takes a more aggressive approach. Foreign, weird words can be heard, mumbled by a man hiding in the shadows. An intersection is lit up by colors as if the monster had picked the aurora borealis from the sky and put it in here, ever shifting colors so fascinatingly beautiful that one look is hardly enough to comprehend even the visual spectacle of this alien phenomenon... But whoever walks close to those seemingly alive colors needs to know, that such beings that one cannot even understand to be beings at all, are - once one has strayed so far from the explored world as to here - the most dangerous creatures that can be found.

also, just as a note, I'm not seeing disable device on the stat block of these things.
