Harmon here, about half a mile from the targets. Negative on the recognition. Never seen anything like 'em before. Small - like ugly ass dwarves. Weird skin. Black wings, no legs.

   "Pluto Company, this is Zephram.  Lieutenant's Drake, Xion, and myself have agreed upon our plan of action.  A small scouting party will be assigned to recon the Coalition convoy.  We need to know their troop strength, psionic strength, and where exactly the prisoners are being carried.  The scouting party will be lead by Tyirrak and will consist also of Takamatsu, Caramon, Magnet Man, Fearless, and Silvermasque.  I the scouting party gathered and en route immediately.  I would also like anyone in our platoon capable of magical or psionic scrying to keep watch over the scouts and report any trouble they might run into."

"Up front they have 6 soldiers on hovercycles, and a heavy tank. Then one APC. Behind that is maybe... 40 skelebots, a Dog-Pack, 8 SAMAS - 2 heavy, and 6 old models. Behind them are... 4 power armours, 2 cyborgs, and 2 robot vehicles. Then the second APC, followed by 5 more robot vehicles, more bike troops, and another tank - different model. They have 4 groups splitting off - one in front, and 1 on either side... and another falling behind."

He pauses...

"The group up front is a dog pack - and what looks like mercenaries... they have a german armour...

"On our side - a borg, and troops with horned helmets... 4 of them... and a 6th soldier... a psychic."

"The scouts on the far flank - look like 4 light SAMAS - and in the rear - another dog pack, and 4 other infantry..."

"I don't know models. Some of the robot vehicles were spider skull walkers, others were two-legged walkers of some sort. They have plenty of power armours - hard to describe... they looked like yours lieutenant, except Coalition-made. They have mercenaries among them as well - and they had one very similar to your Drake - it was German."

Communications fully scrambled, Lt. Drake addresses the platoons.

"Our scouts have observed the enemy, and we are now moving into final positions.  The forces arrayed against us are extensive, which dictate a strike and run tactic.

"The two APCs are accompanied by significant force.  Six hovercycles a heavy tank, then one APC.  Two score skelebots, a Dog-Pack, eight SAMAS, two Super-SAMs and six classic.  Next are four Terror Trooper power armours, a pair of cyborgs, and two bipedal robot vehicles of unknown specifications.  The second APC, followed by five additional robots, mixed skull walkers and bipeds.  Additional hovercycle troops, and a second model of tank.

"Apart from this main body, they have a vanguard, left and right flanks, and a tailguard.

"The van is a dog pack and a group of mercenaries, and they've got Brun's sister with them.  Right flank is a borg, four juicers, and a psychic.  Left flank is four light Jack SAMAS, and the tailguard is another dog pack and four additional infantry, possibly possessing unusual magic-like abilities.

"The parity of forces dictates our strategy -- engagement of the various components to pin them down and sow confusion while two strike forces gain entry to the APCs and pacify the troops within.

"Air travel will be interdicted by elementals, requiring everyone to stay on the deck.  The APCs will be halted and their forward weapon systems neutralized by further elemental magic, at which point the full assault must commence.

"The non-core forces need to be suppressed by volleys of missile fire and area spellcasting, hitting them as hard as possible while they're grouped together.  Sharpshooters should concentrate their fire on the lower limbs and missile batteries of the robots and tanks, with an eye to disable rather than attempt to destroy.

"Meleeists should occupy the area around the two APCs, keeping the area clear from reinforcements, disabling the remaining hull weaponry, and prepared to assist with combat inside the vehicles should it be required.

"Anyone who is capable of rendering themself invulnerable to energy weaponry will accompany and protect Corporal Man, who will in turn shield that team from rail gun and missile fire.  This team will make an obvious target of themselves directly in the prison convoy's path, to draw as much fire as possible while posing as large a threat as they can manage.

"Everyone with the know-how and equipment to do so will perform wide-band communications jamming to prevent the convoy from calling for reinforcements.  Sharpshooters will also be responsible for preventing any SAMAS or hovercycle from fleeing the area until they reach communications range.

"The actual prisoner extraction will be made by our telemechanics and small squads of close-quarters fighters, who will need to be concealed as thoroughly as possible by our mages before the operation starts.  As a result, no weapons fire is to be directed at the APCs themselves -- those areas will be patrolled by the meleeists.

"Once the prisoners are extracted or neutrallized, fires are to be started wherever feasible to cover our retreat over the bridge, which will be brought down after we cross.  Our path of withdrawl will be back up our line of advance to the ley line, where we will be at a significant advantage over any pursuers.  Pursuit is to be delayed by any means neccessary, hindering or slowing the opposition rather than trying to outright destroy them.

"If this plan goes significantly awry, if reinforcements are called in, if we are found to be totally overmatched, a secondary retreat plan is in place.  The Bobcat riders and anyone with equivillant speeds are to head north with all speed, to the environs around the Duluth Hive.  They are to stir up as many Xiticix as they can in short order, and lead them in pursuit back to the main body of the platoons, who will be fighting a delaying retreat until your arrival while the prisoners are evacuated by arcane means.  The Xiticix are to be lead into conflict with the Coalition forces, at which point we will fall back with all haste.

"Sharpshooters and snipers, find your locations and set up.  Front-line fighters, dig in along the ambush route.  Anyone with detectable arcane or psionic abilities, maintain an initial disctance to avoid being detected by the hound packs.  No arcane traps are to be set up in advance that will give away our presence.  Anything that can be done to turn their troops to our side, be they living or deceased, would help to even the odds.

"Telemechanics, report to my position now.  You all have your orders, and good luck.  Today we do or die -- just make sure they do the dying.  This is where we earn our pay, protect our home, and have some fun.  Let's show these Dead Boys what it means to oppose the free."

Lieutenant, you might consider designating some of our "High-Impact" folks for the Corporal's group. I can make /THEM/ impervious to the CS energy weapons instead of myself, and they would make a pretty bad-ass artillery battery.

That would also free me for tactical support of the psi-techs.

Got it Lieutenant. But that Impervious group might just be the one thing that'll save our ass. I'm not going to draw much fire from a heavy tank or PA - I don't care /how/ fat and mean I am. A 13 foot gunner with four arms.... that'd do the trick.

Also, let's make sure all invisibility and spell effects are terminated. Those dogs 'll sniff us out long before they cross the bridge if we're all invisible. Latent magic or psionics is not nearly as "loud" to them.

Oh, and Obidiah suggests concentrating fire on the ground units as he believes he and his elemental buddies will establish air supperiority.

   Zephram's voice comes back onto the radio in a calm and collected manner.  He sounds comfortable, yet a tone of urgency is there also.

   "Slight change in plans after further discussion between Avery, Xion and I.  There will still be four teams, but we cannot risk one so blatantly in the path of the CS under Magnet Man's protection.  If he should fall under psionic attack or be overwhelmed by physical attack, it would sacrifice every other brave volunteer beside him.  Also, we cannot risk rescuing the prisoners in plain view of the convoy - they may be injured and unable to to walk.  We need to conceal the rescue operation.  And the Coalition convoy's numbers are too great - our chances of beating them in a straight fight are slim.  Our mission is to rescue the prisoners and nothing more.  Whatever members of the Coalition that do not survive, all the better, but that is not our purpose.

   I will take one team underground to stop the APCs, which will be sunk into the ground and buried.  We all will then wait.  It is imperitive that the attack from the other three teams on the surface not begin their assault for at least a minute after the APCs are stopped.  This will prevent the convoy from reacting to any 'psionic danger sense' until after the APCs are where we want them.  After this minute has passed, the first of the three surface groups will attack the rest of the convoy, drawing their fire and their attention away from the sunken APCs.  This team will attack from the south and only battle there briefly.  Then the second team will attack from the east while the first moves to find cover.  Then the third group will attack from the west while the second group moves for cover.  After this, the first group must return to resume their attack while the third group moves for cover.  This process must be repeated until the prisoners are free.  The goal is to separate the Coalition forces, force them to fortify from all sides and force them to use as much of their manpower in defense of their position.  Their mission is to escort the prisoners, so they will not likely leave the APCs sunken in the ground, but if they do - don't stop them.  If they remain in the position where the APCs are sunken underground, the battle must continue until we have cleared the prisoners.

   Although I can bring the APCs underground and help a team to move through the earth to the APCs, I am going to need the right personnel to get the prisoners out of each APC.  They will be buried and should have plenty of oxygen inside, but our race will be against the ability of those on the surface to occupy the rest of the convoy.  I would also imagine that each APC will have a compliment of infantry inside, which means the team working underground will not only consist of those psionics with telemechanics but also those capable of fighting in close quarters against multiple opponents.  I know the underground team will include Calliandra, but I hope she is not the only telemechanic among us.  We will need her abilities to open the APC while underground and gain entry to rescue our comrades.  As mentioned, we will also need to be very sure that we can overwhelm whatever infantry ends up being trapped inside the APCs after they are sunk in the earth.  I would also like a mage in the underground team with the knowledge of the spell Sustain so that we might avoid having to supply the prisoners with an oxygen supply - we ran into this problem when we captured Prosek.

   The surface teams will consist of the remainder of each platoon after the few are selected for the underground operation.  Each team needs to have a specific goal in mind when they stage their attacks rather than just firing wildly.  I would like 4th platoon to attack first as Obidiah will be present to enact his anti-aircraft plan.  We need to make sure that if we eventually have to retreat, they are not able to give chase.  We can outrun their dogpacks, but not the SAMAS armours or hovercycles, so they should be primary targets.

   So, after the prisoners are free from the APCs, we will flee the area through the underground tunnel, just like we did at Izmit and after we got Prosek.  We will rendez-vous with the surface teams at a predetermined destination a few miles from here, closer to the last ley line we crossed.  Obviously, the surface teams will be responsible for working together to lose the Coalition from their trail and make their way to the rendez-vous.

   As mentioned previously, the key to this plan is time.  The surface teams need to extend the battle as long as possible, but I don't want anyone throwing their lives away.  Anyone.  It is unlikely we will have to worry much about reinforcements for the convoy as our mission - success or failure - is unlikely to take more than a few minutes.

   In my absence from 2nd platoon, Tyirrak will take command.  Xion and Drake will command their respective platoons, but I will need at least two members from each platoon.  This will include Calliandra, at least one other telemechanic, someone who can cast Sustain and some very skilled melee fighters.  Myself and my elemental will also be present.  From 2nd platoon, I would hope to bring Takimatsu and Marlene with me underground.

   Drake and Xion can choose two of their own they feel would benefit the subterranean party without gravely detracting from their own ability to make a stand on the surface.

   Please contact your respective lieutenants with any questions you may have, we need to get this done!"

"Lady Marlene to any of the Platoom Commander, I have Rolling Thunder ATV with two tw-devices on board, Invisibility and Hover. That can be very useful to you during the battle. If you have any Mages or Pyschics in your platoom that could ride in the vehicle. They could active the device while someone uses the weapon system and someone else ride vehicles. It could be use as a mobile HQ...So, who wants it? I won't be needing it for awhile."

"Lieutenant? I am no Dog Boy... We are not created by The Coalition, and I have never been a part of them. I was raised in the Northlands. I can tell you about my people - but The Coalition is known to educate and train Psi-Stalkers on their sensing abilities. I can feel the presence of a psionic or mage within about a hundred feet - and pinpoint it to the person. If they are using powers it increases to approximately 1000 feet. If there are more than one - it becomes confusing and hard to pinpoint which is which... I can feel the presence of supernatural aliens and creatures a few hundred feet away - and if they are using powers or abilities it is well over 1000 feet. I do not know about CS Dog Boys sir...

"Attention Second Platoon. Do not leave your positions to aid the citizens of Madtown. They were given ample opportunity to evacuate. Direct them towards HQ platoons position or arm them if they are willing to fight. If they interfere with military action in anyway execute them. Lynn... Over."

   We're moving out and we need to go now.  Sergeant Van, take Mephisto, Keth, Tam and Blade with you on point.  You are leading the way.  Leave now.  Drano, Comartin, McCloud, you three are watching our asses from the rear.  Keep an eye on the sky for these air units and only engage them if they are pursuing.  Keep everyone apprised of their composition and status, if you spot them.

   If our point-team identifies the location of the renegades, we'll be breaking into two squads.  One will flank them and when in position, we'll begin an assault.  We'll have time for questions shortly – if we can avoid engaging the air assault first."

"We are going to need that back up quickly Nuitari and Drano. We have a small Coalition squad en route, that should arrive just before you do Nuitari. They have confirmed heavy artillery and are approaching from the East.

We also have confirmed survivors on the transport, at least one so far. We have also discovered they have a prisoner on board, a former spy, named Till Fenson...? We will attempt to locate him. We also found reports of biological weapons on board.

My squad is small. We are attempting to secure the crash site, and engage incoming CS squad. Come with haste."
