Chapter Three - Squad Three

Razgriz
Arthur
Null
Arven
Jelme
Lotus
Okom

Zephram reaches the surface with the mystical digging hands of the earthen element. He then stands aside for Razgriz and his squad to secure the building.

With the sounds of the church collapsing and dozens of gun shots, everyone is forced to yell in order to communicate.

Arven, Lotus, Okom, Null, Arthur, Jelme, and Razgriz charge up into the building - ready to strike down anyone inside...

As Arven's head peaks up to ground level, he is met by the glare of a young boy. Quite dead, the boy is layed upon his back with one hand covering a wound of some sort. Not to worry though, nobody saw Arven get startled...

There are no Coalition soldiers in sight...

Re: Squad Three

Jelme moves to a window that looks out towards the church. It has collapsed in on itself, and Seidon is nowhere to be seen. However, there is plenty of debris shaking and moving... something is alive in there...

Atop his very stable robotic horse, Jelme turns to look at Razgriz, to await an order...

It has already been proven that Jelme does not wait long for direction...

Arven callously pushes the dead kid out of the way and climbs out of the hole doing his best to stay away from the windows. Visually locating the quickest ways out of the building he waits for Razgriz to give some orders or something else to happen.

Lotus clambers up out of the hole casually and moves to the edge of an east-facing window.  She will peer around the edge slowly, hoping to glimpse some sign of Coalition presence.  She will scan the area using thermal optics if nothing is normally visible.

Re: Squad Three

Lotus and Jelme both continue to peak cautiously out their window, neither has reported anything yet... still silence... this deafening silence...

Some of the group get a familiar sensation...

Your mouth goes dry, and your lips stick to your teeth. Your heart pounds maybe four times as fast. Your face gets flushed and you get that tingly feeling on the back of your neck... yup... it's that feeling you get before something REALLY bad happens, before somebody dies, or just before you almost do...

Re: Squad Three

The giant gunslinger takes off at a dead run his eyes have the crazed look of a caged wild animal. He aims for the nearest window that will accomodate the majority of his bulk. Diving head first as if into a pool of water he takes out whatever glass remained in the frame along with him. The blood pulses through his temples as the fear grips his heart. Yeah he always has been a litle bit of a scaredy cat but then that has kept him alive for a long time. When his fight or flight reflex triggers something else happens to. Something that made him one of the most feared gunslingers in the Pecos Empire. Everything slows down all around him. Juicers, crazies and temporal wizards sacrifice thier bodies and souls for this measure of superiority that comes natural to the Rahu-Man. Having instinctively dropped the Railgun all four Naruni pistols are in his hand before he hits the ground and provided there are targets he is shooting while still inverted in mid flip.

Re: Squad Three

When the sensation of imminent danger hits her like a wave, she draws her compound technowizard bow and notches an arrow.  She holds her position at the window however, watching Arven charge out into the open and waiting for him to draw some enemy fire and reveal their positions.  Better him than me she thinks to herself.  As the time elapses from the start of her ESP, Lotus will cast a couple of defensive spells.  The first is the trustworthy armour of ithan, while the second is a slightly less common incantation known as aura of death.  It results in surrounding her with a dark nimbus of purple and black flames.  Anyone regarding her with infravision or thermal optics will find her now completely invisible.  She even vanishes from psionic senses, although remaining detectable in the standard visual spectrum.

"When the shit hits the fan, I'm going to flank them."  Lotus mutters just loud enough for those nearby to hear.

A second skin, made of energy seems to ripple to life on Arthur's armor - a forcefield.  He scans the area with all types of optics and readies his weapon, standing beside Lotus.

Re: Squad Three

As the giant gunslinger's footsteps pound the ground, Okom slips out of the tunnel quietly.  He pauses at the top only long enough to let his armor learn the "flavors" of the ruined building.  Then, nearly invisible to normal vision and thermoptics, he moves at an angle to Arven's sprint, looking for a location with cover and a clear field of vision.

"Distraction?  Check" he murmurs to himself.

Re: Squad Three

Arven lands in a roll and comes to his feet quickly to check his surroundings. In the window of one of the buildings, a Dog Boy takes aim with a rifle - and fires once before ducking under the window again.

As Okom comes to the window Arven crashed through he can make out the dog boy in the window, but only for a milisecond.

Re: Squad Three

A second dog boy has joined the first and is ducking in turn with him. A human soldier with a spiked helmet is at the other window, ducking in turn with the third dog boy.

Together they fire cautiously at Arven and Okom as he comes to the window. Okom is able to take cover as pieces of the window sill are disintegrated above him. He quickly realizes this building is not armoured and cannot provide cover from energy weapons... a laser blast tears through the wall beside Okoms' head...

Re: Squad Three

The building not immediately being blown all to hell behind him makes Arven wonder about his sixth-sense. He must be really on edge if these four chuckle-dicks are tripping his mental alarm system. Rolling up into a crouch he shrugs off the blasts from the energy rifles. With his left handed guns aimed at one window and his right handed ones aimed at the other he fires dual shots with his bottom two guns aiming just below the window where the shooters are hiding out. He hopes that the building is not made of reinforced MDC materials because his guns would blow right through the walls. Even if they are MDC though maybe the fire will trick the shooters into popping up for a quick shot. Thats when the upper two guns will let loose. Either way Arven sits and waits till they are brave enough to pop up and then he will pop them. After his first series of shots are off he will retreat back still covering the windows firing simultaneously but moving towards the corner of the building so he is not so exposed.

Shoot and move shoot and move thats what the big cat said. Not like I ain't ever been in real scrap before. Course throw about twenty more guys over there and he's gotta hell of a point.

Re: Squad Three

With Arven continuing to provide a good distraction, Okom drops out of the not-so-sufficient cover he'd picked back to the ground floor, luckily the generally poor condition of the building facilitates this with a large number of holes in the floor.

Taking quick stock of the situation on this floor, he carefully and quietly moves out towards the back of the building, hoping to come around to the occupied building from another angle.

Re: Squad Three

Lotus mutters the words to another spell, refraining from revealing herself until the very last moment before finishing the incantation.  At that moment precisely, Lotus will vanish... It is exactly this kind of situation that Lotus revels in.  She doesn't even have to think back to her training in the mystic knight training camps, it has become instinct and reflex.  She can feel the ley line energies permeating this place and knows the psi-hounds are blinded by it.  Channeling the energy into spells near a ley line is almost orgasmic as time now stops for Lotus and she moves out from her cover.  With the effect of her spell now in place, she runs out into the battle field amid laser beams and projectiles frozen in place.  She throws caution to the wind knowing that no one can reach her like this, and she runs forward to the enemy position.  As she runs, Lotus incants the words to two more spells.  The first one being superhuman strength while the second one is a repitition of time slip to give her just those extra few seconds.  With the ley line so close however, it feels like the time slip is lasting forever.
After the second time slip is activated, Lotus draws her sword and dives straight through one of the windows of the enemies' building, rolling on the floor into a standing position within.  She turns to see them all up against the windows facing the rest of her platoon as she stands behind them.  She uses the last few seconds of her time slip to get into position for a brutal sword strike on the spike-helmetted trooper.  Assuming she is successful up to this point, Lotus' attack will appear almost like a baseball swing, intended as much to cut the victim as to send him flying with her spell-enhanced strength.

Re: Squad Three

Arven fires four times. The bottom two blast through the walls most likely hitting the soldiers. The top two are well timed and well aimed into the faces of the two dog boys up at the time. These Dog Boys, unlike most in the Coalition army are wearing environmental body armour that covers their entire heads.

Arven's force field is hit twice more before Lotus enters the house...

and again from the side - this time a human soldier

Lotus seems to appear behind the Dog Pack, sword already coming down upon the psi-stalker's head. Perhaps Arvens' 6th sense detected the dog pack ready to strike upon the group. Perhaps it detected the power armours responding to the dog pack to attack the group in the group in the house. Or perhaps it went off because Lotus tried to sneak up on 4 psychics...

The psi stalker dodges to the side in a roll, the 3 dog boys spin to take cover away from the window and the rahu man, and prepare to fire at Lotus.

Re: Squad Three

Lotus understands that in order to fight her properly, the dog boys and psychics will not be able to remain hidden from her comrades on the other side of the windows.  She presses her attack, knowing she is at least as strong as all four of the combatants combined at the moment.  The attacks she uses are attempts to knock them off balance at the same time as deliver as much damage as possible.  She will also attempt to parry any and all attacks fired at her by knocking the weapon away with her sword.
As Lotus' entire body is still flmaing in a black and purple nimbus of mystic energy, she feels fully capable to take down these combatants in the confined space of this soon-to-be-ruined building.

Re: Squad Three

OOC: Im guessing that 120 MD to the head of an armored opponent whose entire armor only has about 100 MDC would completely disentegrate the helmet and the head inside.  Is that an incorrect assumption on my part? Im just curious as to what happened when the two shots hit the dogboys in the face.

Arven is surprised that these pissants are packing as much firepower as they are. With his force field gettting blasted all to shit he decides to skeedaddle his big ass around the corner of the building to escape at least the line of fire coming from the bipedal dogs. He unleashes a torrent on the deadboy that has been taking potshots at him from the side though. As he retreats backwards to take cover around the corner of the building all four guns blast nearly nonstop aiming at building directly across the street.
