Re: Chapter Five : The Martyr

Seven platoons remain of Pluto Company's original nine. 137 men and women in total.

Under the command of Hulan from 1st Platoon - they charge towards the crash site of a Coalition Death's Head. A Coalition V.I.P. was aboard and Tolkeen has it in their hopes to capture this V.I.P. before they are rescued.

Tolkeen has been made aware of a possible attack on one of the outer cities and have rounded many of their forces in alleged "strike zones". Except Pluto Company - they are about to engage all of the survivors of a Transport by themselves.

Third platoon is to follow behind the rest of the Company. They are to blast a hole in the Coalition defense and physically subdue the V.I.P. and get him out of harms way. All other Coalition forces are to be killed - and the Company is to fall back when the V.I.P. is secured.

Before they head out, the sound of a two legged horce is heard stampeding from the streets of Hillcrest. Mithas has finally shown up for duty.

The first of the platoons have begun to head out.

OOC: what is everybody's mode of transportation again?

The Rahu-Man gunslinger puts in a massive wad of chewing tobacco the size of mans fist and begins working it around in his cheek so that he can talk. Spitting out a big gooey glop of the brown stuff onto the windshield of Mithas's hovercycle he begins whooping and hollering."Woo-Hooo! The fucking cowman is here! Now can we get this goddman show on the road you bunch of slack-jawed faggots!?!"

OOC: If Arvens ostrosaurus can keep pace he will definitely ride it. If not he was going to hitch a ride on the back of the bot which is probably not that comfortable but oh well.

'Masque remains stood nearby in his new armour, still ever so slightly tacky from taking its first coating of camoflague paint. Whilst capable of riding one of the larger vehicles, the big cyborg has opted to go on foot, apparently confident he can match any reasonable speed they develop.

"What kept you, making eyes at pretty bonfire?" he asks of the minotaur, no particular sting in his tone.

The fingers on Bernadette's hands have been thumping against "her" leg while Callie waited to get underway.  Though she's sounded quite confident over the radio, the repeated taktaktakTAK her robot's fingers kept drumming belied some nervousness.  In fact, as time wore on it almost looked as if the small robot vehicle was fidgeting.

Jelme sits atop his robot horse, silent and ready to move out. He stares ahead as the first of the platoon head out towards what could be the most dangerous mission yet. He nods at other Knights in the platoon, anxiously awaiting his turn to join in the charge.

Null kicks his hovercycle on. As its engines power up he inches his way closer to the front of the platoon, hoping to lead the platoon to its target.

The juicer begins to jog on the spot. Turning his attention towards Xion, like a cat who just spotted a bug.

"Xion sir? what are we to do when we approach the crash site. Surely we can't all grab the V.I.P. I sure as hell wouldn't mind laying down the cover. Something would just feel wrong being in the middle of a battle and not killing anybody..."

The simvan clears his throat, and sits high atop his silonar. He stretches his head forwards as if to get more comfortable to form English words.

"We should strike like arrow. We go with shape of arrow. Someone grabs V.I.P. stays in middle of arrow. The rest protect and defend. This arrow puncture defense lines at crash. Understand?"

Mithas, dressed in his armor which seems to have been cleaned and buffed, eyes the glob of tobacco spit on the cracked and bloodied windshield of the cycle, both are nearly the same colour. Then he eyes Arven....

"Business" is all he replies.  He looks to the rest of the platoon, taking note of those who he recognizes and those who seem to be fresh meat to the squad.

Re: Chapter Five : The Martyr

Pluto Company races towards the crash site. Almost complete radio silence is maintained the entire duration, which is 55 minutes.

After the near-hour of speedy travel passes, Major Hulan is heard over the radio.

"The enemy has been spotted. And so have we, brace for impact!"

Immediatley after, the crash site is seen on the horizon. third platoon's view is hindered however, being in the rear. A smoking crash site surrounded in small makeshift foxholes, and War machines. Perhaps they are all dead, or perhaps they are ready and waiting...

Within seconds dozens of smoke streaks formed in the low sky, their direction changing in mid air to collide with the incoming Tolkeen Company. It would appear a number of casualties are about to be reported...

The missiles tear into the front line of Pluto Company ripping them to shreds, Screams and cries can be heard over the explosions. Vehicles are overturned and flammables are set ablaze. The company presses on leaving their wounded where they fell for the most part. Several soldiers on fire are being helped by others to put out the flames.

As they get closer to the crash site the Coalition Infantry open fire, and Pluto Company runs into a wall of laser fire. More men are cut down as Tolkeen is still moving into position.

As Third platoon trudges along bringing up the rear, Mithas quickly outs the flames on the wounded, and continues on with the rest of the platoon. Silvermasque and others on point have trouble making out the Coalition positions...

Some fire is returned on the Coalition Death's Head crash survivors, as Pluto moves into place. 1st, 4th, and 9th platoons break off to the left, while 5th, 7th and 8th break to the right. Together they form a semi circle and return fire on the Coalition.

As the way is made clear it would seem it is now time for 3rd platoon (and the remnants of 6th and 2nd) to use their "arrow tactic". It seems the Coalition still have approximatley 50 infantry set up defending the permeter of the crash, along with 2 APCs, a Spider Skull Walker, and 2 UAR-Enforcer Robot Machines. Unfortunately, more than a dozen SAMAS armors take flight from within the half wrecked transport...

An officer is seen giving directions to the forces from the shelter of the transport. This officer is likely the V.I.P. mentioned in the briefings.

Xion and Zephram know the identity of this V.I.P. and it very much looks like this individual.

People are dying, time is of the essence...

The orc follows Sharp. He opens fire on the Coalition positions along with the others. Staring death in the face (or faces) does nothing to change the expression on Fearless... he remains devoid of fear the entire time.

Re: Chapter Five : The Martyr

The big metallic golem had little to say at the briefing or during the journey which is good since his telepathic speech is unnerving to a lot of people anyway. He is far too heavy for all but he stoutest of vehicles and besides he never gets tired so he was fine running the entire way. As the group begins to close in and the Samas power armors launch from within the ruined Deaths Head the golem slows and begins lagging behind slightly. Concentrating fully on his connection to the elemental plane of air Obidiah waits until the Samas are at least a hundred feet away from the transport and then a swirling mass of high velocity air drops from the sky engulfing as many of the power armor suits as it can. When the huge tornado hits the ground the multitude of flying debris quickly defines the shape of the massive swirling vortex for all to see. Ground troops, vehicles and anything else caught in its deadly grasp are rendered helpless and or destroyed. With but a thought Obidiah sends the destructive force of nature rocketing straight up into the air and the route for 3rd platoon to the V.I.P. is once again open. Hopefully in the wake of the Tornado the way is alot less hazardous. The golem now behind the others charges full speed trying to catch up to his brave companions.

The ostrosaurus was ridden hard to keep up with the others but Arven pushes her even harder now that the charge into combat is beginning. Locking his legs around the saddle the Rahu-man adjusts his new armored breatplate before activating his force-field. All four of his "hand-cannons" pop out from thier concealed holsters and he lets out a warcry. Ducking as low as he can to create a low profile he makes a plea to the nearby mages, particularly Lotus who he would be riding near, before he opens fire on the coalition troops. One of you worthless ass mages give my Petunia some of that wizard armor so she don't get all fucked up!" He winks at the Mystic Knight as if she is not used to his harsh way of speaking.

Re: Chapter Five : The Martyr

Near the point of the arrow, Bernadette moves forward with surprising speed and grace, the robot's long legs eating the terrain.  As she runs forward, small "chuff"-ing noises can be heard from the robot's right shoulder as missiles streak out towards the massed survivors, while laser-light from the turret at Bernie's waist reaches out to touch those surviving infantry foolish enough to approach the charging wedge.

Can'tfailthistime.Can'tfailthistime.Can'tfailthistime Callie chants under her breath as Pluto company's charge continues.

Upon entering into the view of the CS, Mithas invokes the invincible armour, and just as soon lights into flames!  The hovercycle with a large, burning Minotaur riding it is a sight to behold, tearing along with this almost infamous Pluto Platoon.  No shots are fired by Mithas as he tears along, crossing the "no mans land" between the battling enemies.  "Not until I can see the pupils in their eyes will I fire" he thinks to himself.  (GM.  Further actions will be made once closer to enemy "fox holes")

Mephisto - suddenly clad in glowing plate armour, rides hastily atop his silonar. That familiar demonic growl echoing his own words can be heard bellowing across the battle field. With one hand holding tightly to the reigns of his mount, and the other raised high...

Lightning arcs and colored flashes begin to appear above the spider skull walker, followed by a large hole tearing into the fabric of space. A huge meteor is ejected from the hole, and crashes into the top of the walker...

He rides on...

"Whom is to make the grab sir? We will entangle ourselves if we all go for the officer."

As the platoon gets closer, Razgriz rises the fallen soldiers to begin attacking their own. It causes an albeit small, but effective disturbancs, as the grunts turns weapons against their own men. Still clad in their body armour it is difficult for both sides to tell which soldiers already dead...

"I can maybe make it to him Sir... I have capture equipment built-in and dodge like bastard, youbet!" replies the big white Tiger, holding his own fire until he's actually within range of the enemy positions - a distinct advantage his plasma cannon has over the more powerful handguns favoured by Arven of course is that he doesn't have to advance over half-way towards the enemy under fire before he can accurately return it. "But I will need something to keep missiles and SAMAS from turning me to crispy fried cybertiger, da!"

Re: Chapter Five : The Martyr

Van has been travelling amoung the group on his hoverboard, going maybe half of it's possible speed. Upon reaching the battlefield he activates an invisible armor and an impervious to energy amulet. While discussing the plan Van offers:

"Perhaps I could be of assistance. Time Slip will allow me about 7 seconds of frozen time in which I can grab the VIP. For as long as my energies will allow, I can continue to reactivate it and get as far behind our lines as possible on my board. At least I believe that plan should work. Lotus, you know the spell, do you not? Would I be able to move the officer? If I could, then I would think we would simply need to get within maybe 50-100 yards then I do my thing and everyone retreats."

"Are you fucking serious Van?  Timeslip doesn't work that way!"  Lotus shouts over the radio with a strong tone of disgust at the technowizard's lack of knowledge.  Here she was, a mystic, teaching a eal spellcaster how to use his magic...
After ignoring Arven's request for magic armour on his animal, Lotus casts the spell on herself.  To think, he wanted her to waste energy on saving an animal when he's probably going to need her to save his fat ass in the end anyway.  He'll thank her later, Lotus is sure.
Lotus draws her TW Firebreather and launches blast after blast of searing flames and heat.  The stream of fire literally engulfs those in its path as she rides in closer on her hovercycle.

Zephram casts the magic needed to summon two mud mounds before sending them forward to do his bidding.  He instructs both to travel under ground and attack the troops inside the foholes.  Meanwhile, he will cast his own magic directly on some of the other forces with a massive pool of quicksand.  If he can target it under any non-flight-capable robot armour, he will do so.
"Silvermasque will make the grab, all units cover him!"  Zephram transmits over the radio.
