Chapter Six : Second Tolkeen Gathering

Mercenaries are still being recruited by the hundreds. Then they are divided up to wherever the war effort requires them.

Just outside of the City - thousands of soldiers gather before heading out into the front lines. Spread out into groups - some are simply waiting for their future divisions to arrive in Tolkeen so they can join up with them.

This is where Ramen and Black Andy have gathered so far. A Tolkeen platoon is here as well - they are 1st platoon of Pluto Company. (See pluto company thread for descriptions of these characters - the only one not present is Major Hulan).

Dragons and other creatures along with vehicles of war fill the skies, and soldiers and killers of all sorts cluster around the entire Kingdom.

Two massive creatures are headed in these mercenaries direction. Following alongside two humanoids - they approach casually. The creature on the left of the humanoids stands at 20 feet tall, and the other at 25 feet. They each have odd mechanical weapons fixed to their arms and heads. These creatures are either magical creations or new to this planet...

To The Left...

Re: Location : Tolkeen

A pair of gargoyles approach from the other side - opposite of the approaching Daemonix.

One of them asks "Is this group of meat bags Pluto Company?"

Re: Location : Tolkeen

The grackle swiveled its head from the two techno...fish...things... and glanced at the Gargoyles. The red optic lens in the smooth metal plate where his left eye should be rotated and focused on the demons.

"Now, I be recknin so, and if'n I be wrong, then I'm as shit-lost as you two are." he presented a snaggle-toothed grin.

The grackletooth was as wideshouldered as most of his race were, and seemingly as fond of big guns. At least four big rifle-stocks stuck out over his back, the weapons arranged to fit comfortably over the wide surface of his back. Two big leather belts crossed his hips, each with what looks like a big old .45 revolver on it. Three big ammo drums were also hooked onto his belt amongst other brikabrak. He wore a thick cloth poncho over his chest, with one ceramic shoulder pad incongruously set on his left shoulder.

On his head was a hat that looked like someone tried to describe something like a fedora and a cowboy hat to a cobbler and expected results. Stuck firmly in the brim was a metal cigar case.

"God-damn Tolkeen scum! all this fucking waiting around is turning my fucking balls blue... all I need them to do is fucking point... and I will start shooting. If we are not sent into this damn-alleged war soon - I will start shooting here..."

Nebress looks around to the many transients in the area - eyeing them as though he were picking out potential targets...

The other gargoyle stretches out his neck, and makes a clicking noise with the back of his throat. He seems to be in agreeance with his partner.

"By all means chucklehead, have at it. I ain't stoppin ya." The grackle's hands were in plain view and the undecipherable largemouthed toothed gator-grin was just as bright as before. The red lens clicked again as it whirred into place.

Re: Location : Tolkeen

"Where will this posturing bring you?"  Ramenhotep interjects into the conversation between gargoyle and grackletooth.  The sphinx had been strolling casually among the gathering forces and was nearby when he heard the foul tongue of the gargoyle flapping and then the retort from the Grackletooth.
Ramenhotep was little more than just another nameless mercenary flocking into the steady stream of suicidal fools to Tolkeen, but he wasn't about to give up on common decency.  He knew about the noble grackletooth and believed them to be worthy of respect.  Gargoyles were more like the lapdogs of hades and deserving of extermination.  But Ramen had lived among the Tolkeenites long enough to learn that the gargoyles were a necessary tool in their war against the Coalition.
"Let us save our energy for the coming battle.  I would hate to rely on an already injured team mate to save my hide from some ambitious CS soldier."

Ramenhotep appears to be a typical specimen of sphinx, at least to those who have seen one before.  He stands just over five feet tall when on all fours, his wings spanning about twenty feet and his body almost nine feet long.  His powerfully muscled frame weighs in at almost fifteen hundred pounds.  As a sphinx, he has the body of an oversized lion with golden fur and thick mane and the wings of a great eagle.  His face is more a cross between something feline and human.  It is also interesting to note that his paws are not so catlike either, instead they are also more like a humans except with razor sharp black claws that click on the ground with each step.  But they appear to be fully capable of performing any human task.
A black nylon satchel is slung over one shoulder, the strap running between his wings.  A large and modern rail gun is slung over the opposite shoulder and dangles freely under his chest.  A black nylon pouch is strapped securely around the thigh of each of his hind legs.

Re: Location : Tolkeen

A five foot goblin approaches followed by three massive orcs, a troll, and ogre and a robot. They are all wearing body armour, and are covered in utility belts, pouches, weapons and ammo. These seven mercenaries are oviously seasoned.

Covered in scars - to match their bitter scowls - they approach with "tough guy" frowns.

Nilus - their leader clears his throat as he arrives - spits a wad of flem on the ground and introduces himself :

"I is Nilus. We are The Firefly Demolition Squad. We have been told to meet a Lieutenant Lyn for Pluto Company. This is the right place?"

(The orcs have each taken on one of the more famous courses of augmentation most common to humans. One is a juicer, one is a "crazy", and the third is a partially reconstructed cyborg. The Ogre and Troll appear to be "normal" mercenary-soldiers.

Re: Location : Tolkeen

The small slender female walking up the road into the throng of mercs and soldiers is dwarfed by her monstrous companions. The pair of Daemonix obviously draw everyones attention at first. Were it not for them the murderous looking Thornhead Demon beside her would certainly get some stares. The tiny five foot human looks out of place and most would certainly not guess that she is the leader of the group. Stepping to the forefront she pulls back the hood of her ornate black robe revealing her luxurious dark red hair. Her similarly dark red lips are pulled up in devilish pouty grin. Her green eyes tell a different story though. They are hard with a stone-cold intensity. She yells out in order to be heard over the bustling crowd and despite her soft feminine voice she seems to command a certain amount of respect. Either that or the company she keeps does.

"Attention everyone I am Lieutenant Lynn! I have recently been assigned to Pluto Company and have been sent here with orders to rendezvous with my new unit. I want those of you under my command front and center. Those of you who are not go have a piss and get out of our way!"

Some may have thrown in that last bit as a kind of joke or icebreaker. Anyone with a shred of sense can tell that she however is 100% serious.

Re: Location : Tolkeen

Fifty thousand troops are in these fields of Tolkeen - all gathering into formations. One group of at least 2000 move out as one solid division of demons and monsters, scattered with Tolkeen war machines. The majority are humans - mercenaries and soldiers, but there are thousands of Brodkil, Gargoyles and SImvan - among hundreds of other species. Hundreds of Daemonix and dragins are in attendance as well. Tolkeen appears to be sending more out than in...

Trailers and transports of all kinds are coming into Tolkeen full of wounded and dead. Most are victims of bullet wounds, and plasma burns.

Pluto Company is expected back shortly...

Re: Location : Tolkeen

Once the lady's hood was down, the Grackletooth blinked, and the telescopic feature on his multi-optic eye zoomed in real close. "I be recknin that's what them there humes call purdy..." he muttered to himself.

He thumbed his 'hat' up and stepped forward to where she indicated her company should be standing, grinning widely. He reached up to pull his cigar-case down, and pulled a fat piece of paper out and propped it between his teeth. His hand disappeared under his poncho to come out with an old pre-rifts zipo... zeepo... zip something-or-other kind of lighter and lit the thing up. The way the thing immediately stank suggested that someone had wrapped up a two-week old brine-soaked squirrel in dirty cardboard and called it a cigar.

Yet Black Andy seemed to enjoy the thing mightily.

Re: Location : Tolkeen

Almost lost amongst the Lieutenant's massive entourage, is another of the sorceress' allies.  Although perhaps he's an aid of some sort.  A human male, apparently in his mid-twenties, he's incongruously dressed in a decidedly mundane manner, wearing simple boots, soft blue pants, and a short-sleeved black shirt.  Certainly nothing resembling combat apparel, nor does he wear any of the typical raiment of a magus or master psionic.

His hair is dark, his features narrow, and the scruff of a few days growth of facial hair gives him the appearance of being a little worse for wear.  What he's doing here is anyone's guess.

Re: Location : Tolkeen

Ramenhotep does not enjoy participating in the mob mentality of soldier formations and he allows himself to take up a position in the rear of the group summoned by Lieutenant Lynn.  He's one of the larger species in the group and it makes sense for him to be in the back row anyway.  Ramen sits back on his haunches, and then rises up on his hind legs in order to see over the crowd of mostly-humanoids.  His wings beat the air a bit to maintain balance.

The sphinx awaits his first orders, slightly annoyed by the crowd's low murmer.  He would like to be able to hear the lieutenant.

The goblin walks up to Portia, "Lieutenant Lynn, I is Nilus - we are the FDS reporting for duty. I understand we are to wait for the rest of the company to return. I do hope they are not long."

Nilus stands staring out into the distance with his arms folded.

Re: Location : Tolkeen

Another large group of soldiers approaches. Led by a grey haired wizard of some sort - a 1st. Lieutenant in Tolkeens' military.

Behind him are 2 Tolkeen Demon Barges, six humans lightly gliding across the ground on their hover boards, an iron golem, a Fury Iron Juggernaut, two elven headhunters riding Gryphons, and a fat human riding am armoured horse. He is dressed in blue robes, and carries a wooden staff in one hand.
