McCloud seeing the incoming heavy samas target them instead of the lighter ones and keep moving taking out as many as possible to thin there numbers.

"Come and get it you over size flying Nazis"

"Good idea McCloud. Take out the heavy SAMs first, unless you want a grenade-quilt. Just look at 4th platoon, they are getting hammered!"

In the distance Cannon FOdder can be seen being hit with several missiles, and other areas of 4th platoon are being carpted with grenades.

Eljin grins inside his suit, he selects one of the heavy Sams headed his way and makes that his primary target, sending wall after wall of metal objects at near mach speed in it's direction.

Karnon gave his elementals orders to lurk beneath the surface of the earth, and kill any Coalition SAMS that become landlocked, taking their opportunities quickly and mercilessly.

He glanced at Portia, ready to act should he be ordered to do so, but preferring discretion in the current scenario. There was no doubt in his mind that there should be dead SAMAS pilots still in the transport, pilots that would otherwise be bustling outside with the rest of them.

From his covered position Drano sighted in on four SAMAS in coming on his position. After firing twice at two differnet targets he quickly moves down to the next bunker.

Lt. Lynn reads one of her scrolls and the blank space on the floor is replaced by a large "window" that looks out onto the battlefield from 800ft above. Fresh air flows into the room and Portia takes a deep breath of it. She watches until she sees the SAMAS closing towards her troops position. She quickly unfurls and reads two more scrolls creating a one-way portal on the wall to her left and another directly in front. They open up, in a slight upwards angle, the first in a position facing the oncoming SAMS so they can shoot at them immediately. The second is facing the large mounds and will allow those in the bunker to shoot the SAMS in the back as they fly by.

"Save your Annihilate scrolls for larger less mobile targets. Everyone fire at will through that portal. When they pass over us everyone immediately reposition to this portal and continue firing as long as you have viable targets."

Portia points to her Coalition model particle beam cannon that is sitting on its tripod and uses telekinesis to lift it over to where she is. Lining up one of the heavy SAMS she unloads firing rapidly trying to take advantage of the surprise attack.

Karnon fired his pulse rifle, sending laser blasts out the portal.

Picking up her Wilks Rifle she feels a little superfluous when compaired to the tripod based weapon.  Still she picks a chair to act as a brace and begins firing upon the Samas as they appear in the fireing slit.  At least right now she can keep pace with those like Karnon who appear to be using mere mortal ways of harming the enemy.

The two squads break off several hundred feet apart, flying in V formation. They are comprised of four heavy SAMAS and 2 Light SAMAS each. The all black suits are trimmed in the colour red. The entrenched militia, along with Drano and his squad of Chromium Guardsmen return fire when the spray of grenades covers the defenders of Madtown.

Immediately after, a hole in space appears ahead of the SAMs, and Amy, Karnon, and Portia open fire. Oksana, Severin, Burd, and Kamada open fire a few moments later.

The bunkers are covered in grenades, but hold strong. One of the militia protecting Eljin was sprayed in the face with shrapnel when he stayed to close to one of the windows. She collapsed to the ground screaming, and was dead a moment later.

Drano fired round after round, striking one of the heavy SAMs in the chest before changing positions. Eljin hit another heavy SAM twice in the chest, and McCloud hit another once in the chest, and once in the head. Comartin missed completely.

Lynn and her squad open fire on the west-most squad of SAMs, catching them completely off guard. They struggle to maintain formation, and fly straight into the wall of fire unleashed by Portias’ group. One of the light SAMs faceplate is blown open when Portia landed a well placed shot from her particle beam rifle. The Smiling Jack SAMAS plummets towards to ground, bouncing off the bunker McCloud is inside. Amy, Karnon and the others hit their targets as well, and the CS SAMs wont last much longer. They return fire with a spray of rail gun slugs however.

The chair Amy was using to lean on is blown into pieces, and she is hit once in her right leg, almost knocking her to her knees, but Amy maintains her balance.






The SAMs are then hit with fire in the backs as they pass over the bunkers from the glitter boys.  Drano drops two heavy SAMs with precision shots to their main jets. McCloud and Eljin drop another one each. The first portal is closed, and the second is opened and Portias’ group opens fire again, sending the rest of the squad to the ground, the light SAMAS has its’ legs blown off and spins uncontrollably towards the ground, spraying blood and organs out over the bunkers.

The second squad is coming around for another pass, as the other squad crash land in Madtown.

OOC: The mystic portal is a one way "teleporting" affair. Basically whatever is sent through is teleported though it retains the velocity it was sent through at and even better there is no tell-tale sign of a portal anywhere nor can anything be fired back through. (See"One-Way Passage" under Mystic Portal, pg. 135 Rifts Book of magic)

That is what makes it such a good plan. Cheap? yes as far as roleplaying but then if you could do that rather than risk getting shot wouldnt you.

Amy, still set up with a good gun rest continues to fire through the provided portal, her targets somewhat chosen by the viewpoint still she chooses infantry over the CS power armor when possible.  Her lower powered weapon much more useful at such relatively soft targets.  She also goes with single shots rather than burning through her ammunition wildly, anticipating that she will be at this for a long long time.

Portia motions for Severin to take her gun back to the other portal along with his as everyone shifts back to take pop shots at the second flight of SAMAS. She walks back over to the initial scrying portal to try and see where the downed pilots are crash landing. Looking slightly frustrated she can not really locate most of them from the portals vantage. "Looks like the ones that went down are doing so primarily outside of our perimeter. Oh well if they meander back in then they will be cut down. Moving back to where Severin set up her mounted weapon she changes out the e-clip and prepares to fire. "We still have about six and a half minutes on this portal and seven or so on the other. Pick your shots more carefully now."

"My elementals should be out there crushing any downed SAMAS pilots right now. Since the earth is their shelter, they should manage to wreak some havoc on these skull-heads. It might be why your not finding any in our perimeter." Karnon said.

Severin does as he is instructed, firing a bit slower, taking more time to aim each shot.

There is a large shockwave released from the transport. The storms surrounding the town disappear. Otherwise, Second Platoon is not affected by the shockwave.

The second squad of SAMs is similarily blasted to the ground just as the first was, and again no members of 2nd Platoon are even hit. As the CS special forces teams come into 2nd's area, they are consumed by earth elementals, and taken deep below the surface, to die long and horrible deaths.

There are still maybe twenty SAMs in the air above the transport in direct combat with the two remaining Juggernauts (Annubis, and Ra). There is no sign of Van Fanel or Calliandra anywhere.

The theater (Headquarters) explodes and is left completely in rubble.

By fourth platoon, three buildings are completely destroyed by what looks like grenade fire. Cannon Fodder can be seen hurling pieces of buildings and civilian vehicles at the same buildings.

Shifting a bit to get a better bead on the airial battle still going on through their firing slits Amy picks a new chairback for her rifle to rest against as she continues the steady stream of aimed shots.  Quiet now her focus on shooting rather than the rest of the platoon around her.

Ra is sent hurling to the ground and crashes off of Drano's bunker, before exploding into thousands of pieces, sending metal, flames, rock and smoke a hundred feet into the air.

All of the Juggernauts have been shot down, and 12 SAMs remain in the sky above the transport.

Portia and her crew are shooting them down like fish in a barrel... a big barrel. While Van and Calliandra attack them under the cover of magic invisibility spells.

"Holyshit!" Portia says when she sees that the shockwave took down the defensive barrier of weather that surrounded the town. "I am guessing that the heavy hitters will be rolling in soon. Karnon it might be a good time to direct your elementals out in the field so that they use the proper spells to break that circle and funnel the ground forces towards us and fourth platoons positions as much as possible. Though if alot of them are swallowed up by earthquakes and chasms and never make it here that is okay by me." She smiles fiendishly at the idea of the soldiers in power armor and vehicles trapped under thousands of pounds of earth just waiting for their oxygen to run out so they can die. "Just make sure that they expend all their PPE on destructive spells before enganging in hand to hand combat in order to maximize the slaughter."

She stops speaking as a SAMAS buzzes away from an invisible attacker and once again into killing range and she nails it along with Amy, Severin and Kamada. Burd misses badly which earns him a telekinetic smack in his toothy maw that draws blood. "I did not summon you to waste our resources you piece of shit." She says in what would pass as a loving manner were it not for the harshness of the words themselves. "Quit shooting you lunkhead and get those IED barrels ready for deployment. I want three each lined up in the two corners and six spaced along the wall over there so we can easily throw or roll them through any portal we open."As the SAMAS passes by now trailing smoke she keys her radio.

"Lt. Pierce gimme a brief sitrep and let me know when the big dogs are in the yard."

Lynn takes her position again and continues shooting until the SAMAS are all down or the portals close.

Karnon nodded and closed his eyes, lowering his rifle to send a message to the elementals. The wolfen seemed quite pleased with the proceedings so far, although the odd anti-magic shockwave had seemed strange to him.

Looking out of the current bunker slit his Chromium Guardsman was currently in front of the mecha pilot spots a rather large formation of Coalition tanks, APC, Robots and Power Armor.

"Portia we have 50 plus mechanized units inbound on our postion, going to try and slow them down."

“Chromium Guardsman, target the incoming mechanized formations, go for mobility kills.”

He then fires nine time in as little time as nine seconds with his Chromium Guardsman’s massive boom gun, normally the weapon would make a super sonic boom when fired, deafening all those around him. But not this time, with the recent techno wizard additions to the ancient mecha.

His first shot spectacularly blows the leg off a Skull Smasher causing the massive Robot to fall to the ground. His second, third, and fouth shots destroy the blow away a trio of Hellfire’s. He misses the fourth Hellfire in the quartet, but takes it out with his fifth shot. The sixth shot damages the leg off of a Hellraiser to the point where it goes down to one knee. His seventh and eighth shots core through the pilot compartments of a pair of Mk VII APC’s, thus causing the troops in side to begin to exit the damaged vehicles. His ninth and final shot hits a CS Scarab officer car completely obliterating it and thus removing either a Coalation Major or Colonel (or maybe even General) from the field of battle.


OOC: "Mobility kills" means shoot off the legs of Robots, the treads of tanks, pilot compartments of vehicles that have wheels or floats. This wayn the grunts an elementals can pick them off.

Some distant CS artillery launches again, this time directed at the surrounding perimeter of town completely decimating the demon horde. The incoming CS forces will ride right over Madtown, and the internal forces are regrouping around the transport.

Upon hearing the order for retreat, Portia takes her bunker squad out to assist in saving the civilians. Drano and his glitter boy squad remain in their bunkers with their support squads to continue the assault on teh heavy machines as they approach the town. As they come closer, Karnons' elementals show themselves and begin barrying entire vehicles and dozens of soldiers.

The elementals become the focus of the majority of the near-by troops, and they both manage to return to their home dimensions before being completely destroyed. Drano and his team are the last to leave the area, after the civilians and the rest of 2nd Platoon.

Amy remains behind to transport the Glitter Boys and their teams in her aircraft, to the safety of Tolkeen.

2nd Platoon lost the three juggernauts, and Sergeant Dresteran. The rest made it out without a scratch.
