Re: C8 : Graveyard Squad

Upon arriving at the tunnel exit, (about 20 seconds after leaving HQ platoon), the entrance to the tunnel - double doors disguised as large tombstones - are open.

The bloody head of Frijio is lying at the top of the stairs and there are foot prints, obviously belonging to gargoyles.

The sound of a large - someone - is heard running up the tunnel towards the exit and Vans' srike team.

McDirth and the other 3, spread out and cover the entrance to the tunnel, weapons drawn.

Annubis follows his orders circling 40 feet above the ground.

Realizing there's no time to trade insults with the dog-man, Van quickly gets into position, preparing for the coming charge. Keeping his plasma cannon trained on the doors he asks "Archangel, who's coming out?"

Archangel aims his rifle at the stairs anyway.

The wolfen shows himself a few seconds later, and stops suddenly when he sees the weapons aimed back down at him. His heart jumps a beat assuming it was Osema and his crew...

"Where are they?"

Re: C8 : Graveyard Squad

Van lowers his rifle, his heart having skipped a beat for nearly opening fire on a fellow soldier. "Copy that," he says getting on his board and preparing to give chase. He says over the radio, "The gargoyles have been spotted with Osema near the lake, I need any available air units with me to head them off."

He takes to the sky and starts his persuit once at least the squad of Juggernauts have caught up with him.

OOC -- Did there not used to be 6 Juggernauts before I left?

Re: C8 : Graveyard Squad

Carver breaks into a sprint in the direction of the lake.  His suit of power armour can't fly, but it is certainly one of the faster ones ever created to run on legs.  He reaches his top speed of 127 kmph in just a few seconds.  Hunting demons was barely worth his time and ammunition, but this little venture had the potential to offer up a few other rewards.  Carver runs until he can see the fleeing monsters or when he is sure they are moving too fast for him to catch.

The Kill Hound wastes no time and follows Carver towards these demons. WIth no question of why, he begins to taste blood, and he runs faster... The blood he tastes is his own, as he munches on his tongue in anticipation.

Annubis breaks his circling pattern and follows Van. In just a few moments he passes the Corporal and takes the lead on route to the demon squad.

Re: C8 : Graveyard Squad

The hovercycle with Reginald piloting and Osema on the back disappears into the treeline. The gargoyles stay just above the trees, flying, at least 50 feet apart.

The moment Annubis is within 3000 feet of one of the flying demons he begins firing lightning bolts from its' left hand at them. He hits them each a couple of times before they too disappear under the cover of the trees.

Van, Carver, Archangel and McDirth and crew are coming quickly behind them. Isis and Set will arrive before them, followed by the techno wizards and Solenstra.

... and Cannon Fodder behind them.

Re: C8 : Graveyard Squad

Annubis keeps his speed and crashes through the canopy of the forest in search of the gargoyles. He smashes through trees as if they were blades of grass, showering the forest floor in branches and leaves, and splinters of wood.

A few moments later Isis and Set arrive and follow Annubis into the trees in search of the gargoyles. They spread out to cover a wide area and demolish the forest together.

Van, McDirth and his squad arrive moments after them. Followed by Carver and Archangel, then Sgt. Wraith and his squad, and finally by Cannon Fodder and his passengers.

Carver is first to notice the helmet that belonged to the Mystic Knight from 4th Platoon. Upon closer inspection... it becomes apparent the Brodkil defacated in it...

Re: C8 : Graveyard Squad

[ indeed... there must be some confusion... above the lake is a forest. The gargoyles and the hovercycle disappeared into the trees. All 4 targets are missing somewhere (presumably) in the forest. The juggernauts went searching for gargoyles but found nothing. When Van arrives, he has to guess where the hovercycle went. He should probably listen to the beast man and the psi-stalker. Because at this point, there is no guarantee they will find any of Osema's crew ever again. On th eplus side, the forest is L-shaped and no bigger than the lake. So if they leave the cover of the forest... they should be seen... any other questions? ]

Feral hang on tightly to Fodder as the flight resumes, snarling, clearly ready to fight something... anything really at this point. Feral was very confused as he thought all these people were supposed to be on the same side, like he and his brother.
