Chapter Ten : Kill 'Em All

The Drop Ship joins up with the rest of Pluto Company to head back to Tolkeen, giving Silvermasque a chance to catch up with Mithas and Jelme, two former squad-mates.

They arrive in Tolkeen much later then the rest of Third Platoon and can assume their usual post-mission positions. The officers head off to do the paper-work, and reports, while the rest get to shower, eat and sleep.

The devices, along with Madtown and the other rescued mutants are escorted away by Tolkeen Mind Melters to an unkown fate.

First thing in the morning, the orders come in for nineteen members of Pluto Company to suit up and join Saturn Company permanently including Cannon Fodder, Oksana, Magnet Man, and Flat Bullet. They all say their good byes and move on, back into battle...

Viktor is promoted to Captain, and given command of Squad One, and the mutant Rat named Snodgrass leaves after being released from the hospital in search of Doc and Feral.

Pluto Company is "promised" five days of relaxation in Tolkeen before setting out again.

As usual certain spells are taught for free at certain times in the City, and all members of the army receive huge discounts on weapons, ammunition and tools of war.

Re: Chapter Ten : Kill 'Em All

Retuning to Tolkeen Na-Wa finds a place to keep his Silonar (aptly named Silonar) corralled during his stay in Tolkeen. For some odd reason no one would take the Silonar, expect one man in charge of disposing of (well executing) captured Skull faced soldiers. He tell Na-Wa that his young Tyrannosaurus Rex will be well feed for the next five days. Na-Wa tries to explain to the man that Silonar is a Silonar, not some T-Rex, but the man continues to tell Na-Wa that Silonar is a T-Rex. Dumfounded Na-Wa leaves his Silonar in the care of the man, after watching it eat a few of the captured Skull faced soldiers.

Na-Wa then goes to a bar where he can drink booze, smoke some funny smelling cigarettes with green leaves that make him hungry, eat and pay a girl and put his pee-pee in her.

McCloud leaves his GB at his favorite Operator's shop to fix the damage it took during the battle.  He asks the mechanics to see about some upgrades for the armor and quote him a price when he comes back to pay for the repairs.

Then he sets about acquiring serious levels of alcohol poisoning in a misguided attempt to drink a Juicer under the table.

Re: Chapter Ten : Kill 'Em All

Being an officer in the forces of the glorious city of Tolkeen's mercenary forces is worth a small additional credit stipend on top of your established basic rate - though a less significant one than if you'd been able to put 'demonstrated unusual power' or 'being a dragon' on your resume.

Unfortunately, it also comes with its share of the administrative burden, and the first day or so of being back in town is taken up with 'Masque working his onboard recordings into a suitable report format and handling the deluge of 'I broke my toy, I want a replacement one' or 'this bit in my gun's gone brown and sizzly, I need a new bit' forms from the mercenary component of Third Platoon which invariably crop up after any combat operation lasting more than thirty seconds.

Being a natural NCO at heart, it's a long process but one that a certain amount of digital support helps out with, freeing him on the second day to go through the usual service procedure and seek out old friends and new ones with the air of a shunt on his liquid nutritional intake filter.

 There's singing.

Re: Chapter Ten : Kill 'Em All

The present universe is most noticeably composed of 3 spacial dimensions and a 4th of time. This is the perception of the average 3rd dimensional being. It is not until one steps outside these conventions that one notices the striking similarities between space and time. They are all simply directions away from the point in spacetime that humans call the big bang. In the same way that no one can travel fast enough in one direction to find that singularity, neither can one turn back the hands of time.

But the megaverse is full of strange anomalies. To -- for however brief a time -- be able to break free of the 3rd dimension and see time as another direction is an awakening. After his 4th Dimensional Transformation Dyvalis returns to Tolkeen, before the others. His body needs to recover; that's the easy part. His mind though, that may take longer.

Re: Chapter Ten : Kill 'Em All

Arriving in Tolkeen with the prized device Van feels like something of a hero. "Pluto company brings home the bacon," he says triumphantly as he hands over the device to waiting technicians who take it off to do Creed's bidding with it. Whatever that was it didn't really matter, not to this young sergeant who had already managed to outrank many other creatures much older than him. Van's confidence came through in everything he did. The world was this young man's oyster.

He took off his helmet and saluted the officers, and gave props to his company. Even as the medics rushed the wounded away from the teleport site, he continued to bask in the moment. The dead and wounded were just background and easy to tune out. The mission was accomplished.

"Let's grab a shower," he says turning to Callie. Now with his face exposed one can appreciate the smug grin that accompanied the comment, instead of just hearing it through his loudspeaker.

Re: Chapter Ten : Kill 'Em All

Mars Company returned to Tolkeen only last night.  They carried eight of their soldiers through the massive main gates in body bags.  The few original members of Mars Company still managed to get shitfaced last night and were nursing hangovers today.  Some of the newer members spent their first night back doing a bit of soul-searching.  We honoured our fallen each in our own way.

Forge, one of the original members of Mars Company, was out drinking with the rest of the boys.  Now, while they were all still passed out and nursing hangovers, she was standing at attention in front of a Colonel.  Her bionic body gave her the edge in height over most men at six foot three, plus the heels.  But this human Colonel was still looking down at her.  Their conversation was short, down to business.  She would rather have been berated by the colonel for failing to perform some duty.  She'd rather have been busted down to a private.  There could not have been worse news for her.  She was being transferred to Pluto Company.  She was supposed to report to some Lieutenant named Pierce first thing in the morning and then to await orders for a new mission with them.

Apparently Pluto Company was back in Tolkeen now too.  They were teleporting home while Mars Company was limping through the main gates with their dead comrades stacked up in the back of a broken-down APC.  Apparently, Pluto Company also had more need of an engineer than Mars Company.  They had a squad of Glitter Boys, a dropship, and fewer mages and supernaturals who didn't need Forge's blow torch for repairs.  She saluted and walked out of the Colonel's meeting with consignment.

She wouldn't like working with Pluto Company, but she knew how to follow orders.
