Thasha will make sure Na-Wa is ok, and then start walking towards Dragana while shooting with his rifle. He feels fear for the first time in a while when he sees Lotus go down...

Amy hops down from the hover skiff and jogs towards the lake to jump in. Along the way she calls out to Drano and Comartin "Am I clear to get to the dropship? Is there anything else down there?"

Drano switches to thermals and easy finds the pilot of the automaton. Compensating for the refraction (it was pretty simple to tell the CPU he was shooting a target in water) he sighted in. "Not for long."  Drano dumps a trio of boom gun rounds into the pilot of the automaton.

Re: Chapter Eleven : They Were Expendable

The angry, near-feral snarl ripped from 'Masque's jaws as he turns one of the shambling corpses into shredded tissue and bone is not much of an answer to Na-Wa's assertation but he tears himself away from the engagement and launches himself into the battle once more with an almost visible effort of will, taking two great, bounding strides around Mephisto's fight to put himself within range of Renszath whom he then growls "To be picking upon someone own size, da?" at while lunging to the attack, all four power-armour-sized vibro-swords moving in a rapid blur of attack-and-defend designed to keep the creature too busy for spellcasting, energy-sheathed techno-blades clashing against those imbued with raw supernatural power.

Re: Chapter Eleven : They Were Expendable

He had considered finishing Lotus off there, until Silvermasque challenged him. Ren grinned back at Silvermasque and replied "yes..." He then teleported himself 20 feet away, to allow time to morph his body again. This time into a 4-armed rahu man. His newly acquired arms, draw two daggers from his belt and he walks towards Silvermasque ready to dismember him, like he did Lotus.

Jack is still invisible, but morphs his body into his usual human form and moves in to take Theodore with his sword. Hacking and slashing at his face if possible, to disrupt spells.

Van makes another pass on his hoverboard, but with Jack in close, he can't fire any more grenades. If they were going to take Theodore out, they had to overwhelm him. Van flew in to claw Theodore in the face at the fastest speed his hoverboard will take him.

Re: Chapter Eleven : They Were Expendable

As Lotus telekinetically drags herself and her severed leg away from the battle, Silvermasque and Renszath engage in 8-bladed combat. Boris finds a suitable spot in the air while staying behind the rahu man-changeling, to shoot him in the head while the demon focuses on Silvermasque.

Out of 6 sword-strikes over the first five seconds, Renszath only parried one of them (he takes 154 damage! Surprisingly Renszath's magic-armour disappears in a flash of light!). However Silvermasque parried four of six of Renszath's strikes. Renszath has very powerful magic swords... (Silvermasque takes 144 damage!). Boris shoots from behind, but all of his shots are deflected by some invisible forcefield.

As Jack charges toward the mages, Dragana yells out "CALL LIGHTNING!" at the end of her spell and Jack is struck just as commanded. . Jack still manages to strike Theodore twice with his rune sword, although Theodore's armor holds strong. (he takes 52 damage). Just as Theodore is finishing his spell Van gets one last claw strike in on his head, and his armor still holds. -- Theodore quickly grows 4 feet in height, reaching just over 10 feet tall. He rises three feet from the ground, with blue energy and rippling bolts of electricty flowing from his feet to the ground, and between all of his fingers. Blue smoke pours from his eyes and his mouth... He laughs maniacally and holds his hands out towards Jack...

Dragana it would seem is stuck to the ground, courtesy of a carpet of adhesion from Photios, and then struck by lightning courtesy of Dyvalis.

The pilot-mage from the automaton is blown to pieces by the two glitter boys. Amy jumps into the lake and swims toward the dropship, followed closely by Hopper.

-- This is now 20 seconds into the fight --

Re: Chapter Eleven : They Were Expendable

'Msque's primary intention in leaping into this engagement was to prevent Lotus from being killed - he certainly didn't intend to end up locked in a lethal battle with a powerful creature very nearly his match and what began as an attempt to keep the thing busy while the fight resolves around them soon focuses down into a life-or-death struggle, rune-blade and vibro-field clashing and shattering against one another as sparks of black lightning flash across the great tiger's own defensive shields each time a blow strikes them - causing them to shriek with the proximity of ruinous overload and fade into near-dissipation as he redoubles his efforts, trying to shield his armoured frame with deflecting strokes and striking out when he can at his massive foe, not prepared to give so much as an inch.

Re: Chapter Eleven : They Were Expendable

Although Lotus is aware of the battle raging only a few feet away, her heart is throbbing and she knows she'll be feeling the effects of shock soon enough.  She has faith that Silvermasque can defeat this demon so she focuses on surviving long enough to get medical attention.  Lotus will rip away the broken plating on the rest of her thigh and use the garrot wire concealed in her vambrace to tie a tourniquette.  Still blessed with the effects of superhuman strength, she should be able to staunch the bleeding before losing all of it.

Re: Chapter Eleven : They Were Expendable

Mephisto runs to kneel next to Lotus as he finishes the words to his spell. "You can fly now. Think happy thoughts. Get your ass to Heinrich, he said he's a healer." He smirked at her, and not in a sinister way. It was a genuine smile, although it could only take form as a smirk... and was quickly replaced by a raging snarl.

The unusually kind shifter returns his focus to Dragana and begins another spell. He couldn't help but wonder, if he had bonded with the same higher power that Dragana and Theodore have. It was all Mephisto could do to not break out laughing in the middle of his new spell. His raging snarl has been defeated, and is now replaced with joy, despite the explosions, and Keth's cries of pain.

Re: Chapter Eleven : They Were Expendable

Boris hated forcefields. He knew his shots would have hit the demons' head were that stupid invisible barrier not in the way. He neglected doing it before, as the risk of hitting Silvermasque was too risky... But now Boris thought to himself "fuck it" and fired his maneuvering jets to carry him over behind Silvermasque and fire over his shoulder into the raksasha's face. Boris knew he wouldn't miss... so long as 'Masque didn't do anything unexpected......

Thasha was beginning to enjoy this. He killed that deevil with his bare hands... These two humans should be easy!

His war cry even startled Jack, as the greot charged towards Dragana while she cast her next destructive spell. Thasha grabbed the back of her head with one hand, and punched his other fist as hard as he can into her armored-face repeatedly. The same strategy that pulverized a deevil's face just a few moments ago.

Jack watched the spellcasting finish and then the results. He narrowed his eyes and sighed. "It's never easy." He backed away from the now much larger opponent, casting a spell on himself. He didn't like the look of that energy crackling or the blue smoke either. He didn't spare a glance to Thasha or Dragana...though he thought about saying something he didn't for the moment.

Re: Chapter Eleven : They Were Expendable

The monstrous, sorcerous fury-empowered Theodore Kitt ignores Jack as he backs away and instead fires bolts of lightning at Thasha, with hopes of destroying him.

Dyvalis strikes Dragana again with call lightning, and her armor disappears with a flash of light, allowing Thasha's second punch to mash her head like an egg against his other palm. Her torso collapses at his feet. Heinrich and Keth are suddenly relieved of their brutal mystic agony. It takes a few moments to regain composure, but they are otherwise fine.

Thasha is hit 3 times in 5 seconds. His armor is melted away, and his flesh is scorched. The third blast burnt off a huge portion of flesh and the young greot collapses to the dirt. Theodore laughs and turns his attention to Van.

Van comes around for another pass and claws at Theodore again, this time doing no visible damage, but actually taking damage from touching him. Theodore grabs Van from his TW wingboard and holds him while shocking him with energy.

Jack's spell is eventually finished.

With the Glitter Boys free, they charge towards Kitt and Dragana, and with Theodore's back to them, they open fire. It only takes a few hits, and the leader of the traitors is blown open and lying in the dirt next to his headless lover, Dragana. Thasha and now Van lay unconscious or dead next to them as well...

Silvermasque and Renszath exchange another frenzy of blades, while Boris successfully fires over Silvermasque's shoulder.  As Disharmony comes closer, she finds a suitable position and opens fire as well. Renszath notices the mages go down, and his chances of surviving growing slim. His body slowly begins to change into mist while he continues fighting, but his strikes do no damage and pass harmlessly through Silvermasque.

In a few moments the raksasha is just a cloud of mist... (combat is over)

A few moments later the dropship raises out of the water and slowly moves across the battle field towards the group. Most of the water has fallen off, but it is still dripping when it lands and opens the ramp.

Hopper and Na-Wa's silonar are already on board.
