"Please, oh, please, let's split.  Let's make a clean break and get on with this, otherwise I'm going to be running into battle with my armour on backwards."

--- James, watching the group 'discuss' their disposition with Fiona.

I don't know why, but this line actually had me laughing out loud when I read it.

Hunters comments on leadership:

Me, Berd, Lenore.  The Dream Team.

It's simple.  No other choice makes sense.  We represent a perfect balance of the three classical elements of Being; Flesh, Spirit, and... um... Chicken Kibble.

Now, throw the ball!  Throw the darn ball!

Not humorous in the least....

This one holds quite a bit of pathos, and all in such a simple statement for a simple situation...

As all good regret should be.  Regret over the little losses that put the big losses into perspective.

"Rubbing his temple (god, how fine it would be to rub them both), Aaron slowly nodded at Cyan's words."

Typical Jonnee... ^_^

"Man, you timed that right.  Dude, we really could have used your help when we conquered the Archon homeworld, killed all their leaders, enslaved the rest, and set them to work rebuilding what they trashed."

"I tell you, those two weeks, since you fainted, have been the hardest of my whole life."

Jonnee to Hunter, both of them about to enter combat: "Last one to draw blood is a poodle!"

Gave me quite a chuckle, that one.  :)

Not Actually Funny, But

It wasn't honorable, and despite his history of conquest and cruelty, he still had a sense of honor. Some might call it twisted, but he'd silenced most of them long ago.

Dorian, demonstrating what might be considered a dichotomy, but isn't (IMO).

Re: Not Actually Funny, But

And yes, Part 46 is where I get totally owned to the point where Devlin's nifty healing powers can't even begin to compete against the awesome damage done to my poor, poor nose.

The Nose is plotting a conspiracy with the Archons to cause the downfall of all reality, only the Archons don't know that the Nose is actually a double-agent. They figure it out eventually (Chapter 46) and, well, there you have it.

Although technically, if we go by Hitchhiker terms, Chapter 42 should've given us all the answers already, but... whatever. Life, the Universe and Everything seems so, so small in comparison with the damage-absorbing powers of my nose. THAT'S where all my Endurance points go.

The One Who Cares

"You are free." the man says to the small bird. "Find a world where you can be safe. He studies the small creature a bit more and transfers to it the ability to alter itself. "Be what you choose" and then he watches as the bird flies off.

--Devlin, to one of his Blood Creations.

This didn't make me laugh, not in the slightest.  Instead, I almost cried.  It's very poignant, and very telling as to Devlin's inner character.

"Of course I'm not a demon" glancing at Banglen-Yp he adds "not that there's anything wrong with demons, they're just...on a lower social level."

- Roman demonstrating that, while demons are (generally) okay, he wouldn't want any daughter of HIS to marry one.

Pain

"I'm about done, here..." he said quietly. He didn't even think about how he was hurt... just that his head was seriously bothering him, and that he was having trouble breathing... and how Arianne just wouldn't talk to him anymore... had he been mean to her again? What did he say this time... he couldn't remember... "...sick of rants..."

Aaron.  Stormbringer, Page 8.

He holds the sketchbook out to her, his face pale, ashen, drained, hopeless.

"I said I'd never lie to you. That still stands. More importantly, you know I'd never lie to myself. This is me." The last words were pain.

    ~done~

A small voice inside him said.

                  ~it'll be alright~
  ~it's over~

Re: Pain

(OOC)

Aaron: "For some reason, I simply find the idea of Dworkin finding some sort of "giant devouring evil cloud of death" completely at random to be more psychologically understandable than, say, a mad, billion-year-old dwarf deliberately creating an anchor of reality to specifically find something that kills everything.

Keep in mind, though, that both those ideas are awesome to me, so Dworkin wins points regardless."

Luke: "Lovely.  And people say I'm a monster."

(Aaron and Luke, in a bit of OOC banter regarding Dworkin's sanity - and their own by comparison.)
