No, I think highly of Tylen.  :)  Yas is not average.

Tylen also has (according to him) some decent hand to hand training.  Marines, I'm sure, get some, but I expect it's the weapon of last resort.

Marines being efficient sorts, they probably shoot or stab things first.

Sure, why hug and pat one another when you can blow each other to pieces from afar?  8)

Depends on the mission, though.  Boarding enemy ships as part of a living gets you a lot of hands-on experience, though in armoured spacesuits hand-to-hand also might be of limited use apart from tossing and such.  Nerve grips works poorly.

I know a few people in (different countries') army, and have met some people from JTF-2.  They always find it amusing when others go on about how 'deadly' military hand to hand training is.  Apparently they do one heck of a lot more training on shooting things than hand to hand...somehow not surprising.

The JTF-2 guys go to a Sambo school outside of 'working hours' for their hand to hand stuff.

Yep, they aren't exactly Shaolin monk who live Martial Arts, but some might pursue the interest on their own.

Wish I had started years ago, but finding something local was always the trouble.  Now I am not really in a fit enough state...  Unlike Yas.  ;)

It's not for everyone, and finding something local that suits one's needs always seems to be the problem.  :(

Especially hard to find something when you don't really live near a city even, and most of this stuff is found in cities further away still.  Dang Sweden, being so spread out, heh.  ;)

Yeep.  Definitely a problem.

Ottawa isn't so bad for martial arts.  One can find the usual stuff, but there are quite a few less-commercialized schools teaching less-known stuff as well.

Another of the oh so few good things about cities then.  ;)

I do envy (and admire) your knowledge, prowess, determination as well as opportunities (well, not so much admire the last, but you know what I mean!).  :)
