Re: By popular demand... another OOC thread.

Shui Tiesi:
*sighs*  I distinctly recall Tylen talking about having hand to hand experience.  :(

I don't doubt that a Tylen posted that at some point  :(  And he will have had Hand 2 Hand combat experience at some point.  -  So the story holds true -  although I suspect he exaggerated his ability somewhat  :)  And I suspect those stories came from before his accident  :)

He is good at shooting things though :)

*grins*  I started Ju Jitsu in my late 40s -  then got dumped quite badly on my neck/shoulder/back -  It was a good  four/five/six months before it was pain free and I could join in properly  again.  Unfortunately, by that time I had other things on my mind and never got back to it at all seriously. I thought about restarting a few years ago, and the local class was all so young and high speed I decided against it.  I would still like to find something -  every so often I look for Aikido classes ...

Re: By popular demand... another OOC thread.

Thank you, Yasmine!

Injuries are an unfortunate consequence of serious martial arts.  :(  I'm sorry you had that experience, Tylen - I understand well being dumped on the shoulder, as I've had my own separated from something similar.  And sundry other injuries that continue to plague me.

*sighs*

But if one approaches martial arts with a certain caution, even in middle age one can still enjoy some benefits!  :D

Indeed -  although one needs to find the right class / instructor  etc etc  :)  I saw a nice article on the BBC the other day about a pensioner teaching martial arts techniques that used a walking stick.  That sounded right up my path ...

Definitely.  When one joins a school/gets a teacher, one must first know what one wishes to achieve.

There are a lot of different reasons people learn martial arts!  :)

You're welcome.

Walking stick, eh?  Any martial art out there using pizza?  That's right up my path!  8)

Whew!  Thank god for old reprints.  But, I'll have to beg off on the cigar, I can't believe that the Doctor is advocating smoking.... The Steward, I might believe, but the Doctor?

Hmmm... Well, Karen Gillan is pretty cute, but not the Doctor ... Matt Smith is not that bad looking; especially for the Doctor.  Though our Doctor is admittedly much, much cuter.  Even if she does advocate smoking.

Oh, THAT. *belated understanding*  I've told you I'm obtuse.

It's a futuristic cigar.  Non-carcinogenic, non-addictive.

Hmmm.  Next thing you'll be telling me is that it doesn't burn or stink.  At which point, is it really a cigar?  Sort of like Diet Coke to me... no caffeine, no calories, no sugar (no flavor, no color, &c.) - Should it really have Coke in the name? ... :)

Saskia, I took a little liberty with taking your character's hand - I hope it's okay.  If not, I can edit!

BLUE, then.

I know, the NPC's tend to use blue.  Unless our Fearless Leader objects, I'll go with that.

I've been using it for intercom anyway.  :D

How about just Green instead of DarkGreen?  I'm thinking that Yellow and Pink are not going to work... *shields eyes from the abomination of color that he has wrought*

You're free to use any colour you like, or no colour at all.

I just use blue a lot of the time because I like it.  :)
