Denotam/Vilis (0603)  Date: 275-1107  07:40

Profit Margin falls through Jump Space towards her destination.  Sensors detect mass shadows around her, and constantly compare their positions to information contained in the navigational database.  When they match, within a carefully defined margin of error, an alarm chirps on the Bridge, echoed in Jago's quarters, and in Engineering.  It interrupts breakfast.

A notification displays on screens in all three locations: JUMP EMERGENCE: 180 SECONDS.  The digits start to count down immediately.  At sixty seconds they turn red, and a warning tone sounds.  Jago takes his post on the Bridge, still holding a half-eaten piece of toast.  Alongside him, Ash drops into his position, and behind them Jago can hear the banter of the gunners as they run their turrets through power-up.  Saskia calls in to report no problems at her end, which is just as well, because any issue at this stage will result in their arrival as a cloud of fine dust and a brief, but intense, pulse of exotic particles.  Shui reports that the passengers have been informed of the imminent arrival, and that she stands ready in case of any medical emergency.

Another tone sounds at the thirty second mark.  And again at ten, and five seconds...

... 004
003
002
001
000

And Profit Margin drops out of Jump.

Unlike the last emergence, there are no proximity alerts.

The ship starts checking astronomical data - positions of known stars, stellar data from the system, gravitational field patterns... while Ash begins scanning comms channels.  Within a few seconds both the ship and the navigator confirm that they are in the Denotam system, exactly as planned.

Re: Denotam/Vilis (0603)  Date: 275-1107  07:40

Ash lets out the breath that he has been inadvertently holding.  He taps on his console and starts to align stellar positions and charts to the sensor feeds.  His reticule on his headband flashing various overlays and displays to facilitate quick and easy recognition - not that he doesn't trust the ship (hell, he programmed the jump coordinates), but it is busy work to satisfy some mental itch.  "Denotam." he states simply over the crew channel, confirming their destination and giving the rest of the bridge crew a 'thumbs-up'.  Then he opens a ship-wide channel, "Ladies and Gentleman," the navigator adds, "we have properly precipitated from jump.   Welcome to the Denotam system."

Ash then turns his attention to the chatter on comm channels, he nods quietly as it confirms his assertion about their precipitation location.  "Definitely Denotam." he confirms.  Ash turns to face Jago, "Plenty of system traffic, Boss.  Should I transmit our transponder codes and log a flight plan with their Central Flight Control?"

When the three minute warning sounds, Tylen puts his coffee mug down on the table and shrugs gently.  Standing, he makes his way through to his station, straps himself into the chair and allows the door to slide closed behind him.  The systems are already active and he tweaks the settings slightly for the initial scan he wants performed as they drop out of jump.

Straight after the jump, his eyes start scanning the data – although the fact that there are no tell-tales flashing or warning noises going off means that he is fairly relaxed as he does that.

Letting the door to his cubicle slide open, Tylen un-straps himself from his gunners seat.  ”And nothing threatening us either.” the gunner adds to Ash’s brief analysis, then he comments casually  ”Mind you, it looks busy out there.”

He pasuses for a moment as he leans against the door frame and gets himself comfortable.  ”Are we going to be stopping long enough to do a bit of shopping?” he asks generally

"Everything in the green here, Jago." Saskia reports in from her work station.  Normally that would be the case, of course, but with a wilderness refuel at their last stop, and refining it themselves, the Engineer has kept a close eye on things this trip.

She also has one more safety precaution she wants to take before Profit Margin jumps again, "When we land, I want to run a full diagnostic on the drives, just to make sure the dirty fuel hasn't given us any problems.  That means I'll have to power everything down for about six hours so that I can run the test sequences."

Re: Denotam/Vilis (0603)  Date: 275-1107  07:40

Jago acknowledges the various "we're safe" reports from the crew and calls up a system schematic on the HUD, "This looks like our best bet."  A winking red reticle marks a point in orbit above Denotam, "Denotam Highport.  Large capacity, so we've got a good chance of getting a berth.  Call Traffic, see if you can get us in there.  Then plot a course for me."

Jago starts checking the the comms chatter himself, and finally lets out a quiet, "Ah!"

He switches some of the traffic to the intercom system, "We've got news service again."

On various displays around the ship, TNS reports start to appear.

Frenzie/Vilis (0306-A200436-A) Date: 260-1107
A Naval spokesman has confirmed the arrival of several Sword Worlds prisoners at Frenzie, where they will be held pending transport to Regina to stand trial for war crimes.  The charges follow a recent battle at Arkadia (Vilis 0407) when sensor logs from an Imperial Midu Agasham destroyer, and from civilian traffic in the system, clearly showed the Sword Worlders firing on damaged ships in their squadron to prevent their surrender to Imperial forces.

Regina/Regina (0310-A788899-A) Date: 268-1107
    OFFICIAL RELEASE 46-268-1107:

Notwithstanding current military conditions, landing operations or other activity not specifically sanctioned by the Imperial Naval Department will not be tolerated at the following worlds: Pscias (Regina 0506), Shionthy (Regina 0706)), Algine (Regina 0708), Victoria (Lanth 0207), Ylaven (Lanth 0306), Sonthert(Lanth 0308), Djinni (Lanth 0501), and Grant (Jewell 0807).

Subordinate authority for such landings or operations is delegated to fleet commanders when there is incontrovertible evidence that enemy forces have landed on such worlds or intend to do so.

Violations of this directive will be severely dealt with.

    By order Santanocheev, Sector Admiral.

Re: Denotam/Vilis (0603)  Date: 275-1107  07:40

Ash nods to Jago's orders.  "Aye, aye, Captain." he quips rather chipperly.  Ash opens a commlink to hail the Port Authority, "Denotam Traffic Control, this is the Profit Margin inbound from System 728-907...." he proceeds to given them the Margin's transponder and identification information.  "Requesting clearance for Highport approach and berthing..."  He taps the 'mute' button on the link.

As he does so, Ash's fingers also start working on the course calculation.  A dotted line appears on the tactical display and it starts to work its way towards the winking red mark on the same display.  The curve takes on a graceful arc as it settles into place.  Ash glances up at the display with a fairly satisfied smile, noting "Tentative course plotted, Boss.  Just awaiting confirmation from the Port Authority boys."

He unmutes his end of the connection as waits for an answer from the Denotam Highport.  While he waits, Ash scans the TNS reports that Jago has pushed out to everyone.  He purses his lips at the reported hostilities and instinctively rubs his right knee, which suddenly aches a bit.

"Hmm.  I wonder how Keryn will take that?" he murmurs as he reads through the news feed.  "Glad we are out of that."

Tylen coughs softly then grimaces slightly, "I'll go get a coffee then, if that's all right?" he  suggests to Jago.
