Brald looks at the pair of weapons with no pleasure.  "If we sell them, then I suppose we have to give a share of the sale to the ship."  He replies not very enthusiastically.

Re: Battle on the beach

The trip itself is uneventful, which is a nice relief.  Soon the hazy horizon begins to focus into the small city that you had left behind those days ago.  Coming closer the small ship is greeted by the sight of the Swyft Wynd riding at anchor, the ship back in shape and ready for deployment.

OOC: you can either dock on land, or head for the ship.  Your call.  Brald, got any ideas for what I had asked you earlier?[Private to Brald Wyndlass: I aplogize for the new weapons offered, I had forgotten about the background story and your rapiers (thinblades, whatever) Let me know what you want the +3 added to and we'll have a local wizard take the two items in trade for the enchantments.]

Re: Battle on the beach

Brald smiles at seeing the ship whole, and apparently ready to sail.  He looks to Varul for landing instructions.

[Private to DM Foxpaws: It's not a problem.  What I see as a bigger problem is Brald getting both weapons as his share IC.  If he does, then I'd make the Thinblade +1 keen, and the Lightblade +1.  <Blue>Don't see it as to big of an issue...its a big more than I would normally give at so low a level, but since there is only 3 of you against the pirates I wasn't to worried about it.  the others got some fairly nice items as well, though I will admit the two +2 weapons for you were a tad more.  the armor granted to Varul was nice, and the amulet/pearls have their own special kick since Cal isn't a front line fighter.]

Lets put her back where we found her, moored next to da ship. Then once everyone has chosen an item, we can report in the rest for a split with the ship. I am ready for a real sea going vessel I am. Vraul says.

Re: Battle on the beach

Standing at the rail Clarke smiles to see his first mate and marines returning to him...though he isn't happy to see that a member of his crew is now missing.  Once everyone has climbed aboard the Captain says "Welcome back men!  We are ready to set sail and were just waiting for you to come back.  Get yourselves settled back in and then give me a report Varul.<Green>"  After the small vessel is lashed in place and everyone has settled in the captain goes to his quarters to await for his first mates report.

OOC: don't worry about the report, we'll just move on from there.

Stepping back on deck the captain calls over a new face "<Green>Varul, we've had a new man sign on, Tagen this is Varul our first mate, you'll be reporting to him for most things....
" turning to the first mate and the other marines on deck he says "He's a bit green, but we're in need of battle ready men...we've had reports of fresh activity not far from here near Athkatla.  I want to be at sea as soon as possible to see what we can see out there."

OOC: to the sailors just returning, you've got a bit of time at dock before the ship actually sails if you need anything from port.

Re: Battle on the beach

Vraul follows the captain into his quarters and gives him his report. He makes sure that he and his crew get their share of the treasure.

When the captain comes out, he will walk over and meet him. He then looks at the new swab and says, "Well what you doing standing around. Stow yer gear and get to cleaning sumthing." Vraul will be glad when the are chasing the pirates and making the seas safe from unnaural perils.

[Private to DM Foxpaws: So what will be our/crew members share of the gold.....<Blue>There won't be, while under deck he lets you know that the ship won't be taking anything as a cut.  Since he or the ship didn't go out, and you returned the skiff in good shape don't worry about it.]

Re: Battle on the beach

Tagen looks up at the towering first mate. I think we need a bigger ship he thinks to himself, though we at least have a spare mast if we need one.

Hearing Varul's barked orders snaps Tagen out of his thoughts and to attention.

"Aye, sir."

With that, Tagen grabs up his gear and heads below wondering if going to sea has been all that great a decision. After a short time he is back on deck and, grabbing the closest rag he can find, he begins rubbing down and polishing the nearest metal object in sight, not having a clue if it's actually what he should be doing or not.

Re: Battle on the beach

Standing at the wheel the captain looks out over his small ship, glad to see her crew together again.  Watching the cargo being loaded he calls out a few orders to ensure that things are lashed down properly, leaving his firstmate to get the new marine ready for sailing.  "Varul, you and the men take the evening to yourselves, tomorrow we head out to see whats with these pirate reports." walking walking around he makes a last check of the ship before heading into town to the rail to check on his old friend.  The giant head appearing deep in the bay as the huge monster makes a jump into the sun....almost a common enough sight in this small town that it doesn't cause to much panic to see Fido.

Re: Battle on the beach

Tagen's jaw drops when he sees Fido's jump and he instinctively reaches toward his back for his bow only to find nothing there, momentarily forgetting he left it below so it would be out of the way while tending to his new shipboard duties.

"BLOODY 'ELL, but what was that!" he exclaims as he points to where Fido disappears back into the water. He then gives Varul and the Captain a startled look while he waits for an answer.

During a short moment of peace on the ship, Calgarvin seeks out the first mate. He whispers quietly to him, "Excuse me, sir, when you are ready to share out the monetary treasure we found, please take 3gp from my share for yourself. I owe you that from the loan you gave me a couple of weeks ago. And many thanks, Sir, for the loan." He then goes back to his chores prior to disembarking for a drink.

Re: Battle on the beach

Sometime later the Captain calls Varul, Brald, and Calgarvin to him and with a smile hands them each a hefty sized pouch.  "I've taken the liberty of apprasing the gems, and cashing them out from the gold I keep on the ship.  I don't know what all you boys had to do to get that, but its more than enough to set yourselves up for the rest of your lives." he says, as he drops the heavy bags into each of your hands.

[Private to Brald Wyndlass; Calgarvin Woodwill; Varul Reefcrusher: 470 PP for each of you, the captain took in a little under 100P for the ship.  he also gave you the best prices he could for the gems (from the first island)  you ended up with 3 500gp pearls, 3 500gp horn coral gems, 3 1000GP water opals, 2 1000gp star sapphires, and 1 5k emerald]
