Hunters/Pirates: Battles at sea!

OOC: Before posting to this thread you may all want to go in and change your bio lines, remove your HP, AC, Init, and Saves so that your enemies won't use that info against you.  If you would be so kind, please add this info into your first post as a private line to your DM, just to make life easier on us :).  Also, have fun guys, hopefully no one is to attached to their characters to worry overly much if they die....and odds are alot of us are going to die.

How could I forget my grappling hook Paul thinks to himself, rushing below to retrieve it before returning to deck.

OOC: Since we are all going to be rolling initiative soon enough...

Paul Roberts rolled 18 using 1d20+3. Initiative: Pirates vs Hunters.

Re: Hunters/Pirates: Battles at sea!

Varul Reefcrusher is a towering 8' tall, if an inch, with a large muscular
build. His face, chest and arms are covered with countless battle scars and
badly set bones. He looks like he has survived horrendous wounds. His armor is
formed of small shards of bone, tied together with fish leather. He carries a trident. You can see water dripping off of him, like he was just covered in water.

Re: Hunters/Pirates: Battles at sea!

The call of 'Sail ho!' rings out accross the water, drawing the attention of the crew of the Swyft Wynd and most likely the attention of the ship on the horizon as well.  The crew of the Brig go about their duties with a swift percision of a well trained crew.  The sail in question appears to be about a mile out, making any definite judgements on its type out of the question...the crew readies for the worst just in case.

OOC: Not sure of your ships range for spells/weapons, DM NinjaCow, how many rounds do you want to call til we close for ship to ship combat?  and how far are we closing per round?  (in other words, how many rounds can I pound on ya til you get to pound back?)

Re: Hunters/Pirates: Battles at sea!

The two ships sight eachover over the vastness of the ocean, just a sail on the horizon at present and nothing to worry about at present.  Though in waters such as these neither captain would be wise to not at least put their crew on alert.

OOC: Captain Blackmane, roll your ships Init. and lets see what we can see about our crews!

[Private to Calgarvin Woodwill; Cap'n Blackmane; Tagen Vrinn; Varul Reefcrusher: Swyft Wynd rolled an 8 on init...used Captain Clarke's modifier]

OOC: Just a few quick questions. Who has the windage? What are the ship's turning rates? How steady/what direction is the wind?

Re: Hunters/Pirates: Battles at sea!

OOC: I'd like tactics worked out by Thursday please. Not sure if FP has the time for this region any more.

The Desert Rose has windage it's blowing at a steady 10mph coming from the south.

Turning is worked out with the rules found in Stormwrack.[Private to Zorlax Marn: We're in a Caravel]

Re: Hunters/Pirates: Battles at sea!

OOC: My team has no need for tactics just yet, we've just spotted a ship on the horizon.  Normal procedures are in place for the other ship being friend or foe.  I've got a bit of time for the region but that is going to disappear shortly.  I have just been waiting for an update of what direction your going to be going with your ship and if you plan to close.

[Private to Calgarvin Woodwill; Tagen Vrinn; Varul Reefcrusher: OK guys, bear what DM Ninj4Cow said in regards to the wind and what not...cause I have no idea what it means :(]

Re: Hunters/Pirates: Battles at sea!

The two ships continue to pace each other, the slower of the two ships keeping its distance with the advantage of the wind.  Meanwhile high overhead a lone ablatrose circles the thermal air as it scans the waters and horizons on its long journey.

[Private to GM: Clarke has used one of his shape change uses to check out the far ship to scout it out.  I'm figureing were in or near Refugee Bay (a known pirate area since its easy to dock at Port Castigliar and not be noticed)]
